137. Discussing Meg Lanning’s indefinite break from cricket

Welcome to Episode 137 of Never on the Backfoot Podcast. Australia women’s cricket team captain Meg Lanning has announced she will take a period of indefinite leave, effective immediately. Lanning cited personal reasons for the decision, with no return date set. The No.2 ICC Women's T20I batter and No.5 ODI batter was set to stay in England after Australia's Commonwealth Games victory, to feature in The Hundred for the Trent Rockets. Instead, it's understood Lanning will return home, with a decision on her participation in Australia's upcoming domestic season to come. Her break does raise pertinent questions and to join us in the discussion is Juili Ballal. To talk more about Juili, she is a former cricketer having represented Mumbai University at the All India University level. She was a part of MCA probables for the U-19 and U-23 age groups. She has been an avid cricket writer for the last five years and writes frequently for Female Cricket. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD from IIT Bombay.
