[MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] What is going on everybody? Welcome to the inner city ex podcast. It's Steve here. This episode, 352, joining me today for this lovely New Year's edition of the episode. We got Alex. Hey, we got Brian. What's up? Oh, man. Yo, ho, ho. The year is almost over. By the time this episode goes up, it's going to be pretty much like New Year's Eve, essentially. The full day, this is going up. Since it is the end of the year, we go over some of our top things that we've truly enjoyed. I say each of us pick five different things. Of course, they may be the same. Some of us may have things that we're like, "Oh, yeah, look, I like that too. That's going to be a real fun thing that we can all talk about." There are other things that we may not have whole experience as well, so you pick five things, whether it's movies, TV shows, music, actual events, toys, wrestling, anime, a little bit of everything. Fun, fun, fun. How has this year treated you guys so far before we get into this stuff? Alex. Brian, okay, go. Let's go, Brian. What? I get to go first. Can I taste some? Yes, you get to go first. You get to go first, this time. Yes, because of the size. All because of the size. Okay, Brian. Side, Brian. Side, you Jay. Side to Jay. Yes. I like it. I like it. The year has a lot of... The year had had a lot of its ups and downs. Absolutely. As it has for everybody. Greatest experience was... The number one experience for 2024 had to have been my daughter's turn four. They're fucking four. They're going to be five. I know. In like four months, I'm like, "Yo, you're fucking nuts dude." The whole hand. Yes. You went from being a little tiny thing that couldn't do anything for themselves to you're on a stroller to your... Oh, like you can walk to... Oh, wait. What do you mean you have questions? Yeah. Why do you want some answer? Why do you want some answered? Why is this this? I don't know. Why do you want to learn? I mean, starlet literally. But why is red red? Because rainbows? Because it is. Because colors. Because Superman? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So yeah, greatest part of 2024, my kids turned four. Worst part of 2024? Well, we're not going to go into politics. Yeah, that's completely fair. Some people may say it's amazing. Other people, not so much. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. Very cool. Very cool. Alex, what's good dude? How has this year been treating you so far? Not the best year, not the worst year, but I kept this status quo. But I will say this though. This was an eye-opening year. So that's the one thing that I would say. This year kind of will give me to a bunch of stuff. So, you know, I just look forward to 2025 to see what that brings. Nice. Nice. You know, I hate, I always hated that term new year. No means like no. It's a listen. The only thing that changes is the calendar. Years just keep going. Like this happened in this year. Okay, fuckers. Yeah. Like whatever happens next happens next, but you know, I, you know, I look forward to the adventure, you know, the upcoming adventure. Of course. Very cool. Very cool adventure, excitement, a Jedi craves, not these things. Sure. Yeah. And I'm not a Star Wars guy. So, you know, it works better. You think that'll get the quilt, but it's okay. I get it. Yeah. Yeah. It's okay. So what about you, dude? Well, this year's been, it's been a, it's been a fun year. It's been a fun year. I've done a lot of things. I have experienced a lot of things. I have done a lot of things that I had never really thought I would do. Oh, that's Miami for a few events. I worked a couple of raves, I worked a lot of concerts. Yeah. Yeah. I've done a lot of stuff. I've done a lot of stuff. Drugs and raves. Well, no, I didn't do the drugs. I didn't do the drugs. No, you stop. I was going to say you want to get Steven fired. Okay. Thanks, Brian. No, no, no, like I've allegedly, I've gotten licensed to work in other places. I've got no, I've gotten, I've done a lot. I've done a lot. And I'm like, excited to see what 2025 is going to ring. And we got to say, man, I mean, I'm sure this comes from Alex as well, but we're fucking proud of you, man. Oh, look at all the shit in the security world that you've accomplished. Thank you. You, you, I mean, fucking, you're a certified Swiftie. I don't think you should be proud of that one, but honestly, honestly, I have brought of it because there are there are Swifties that didn't even get a chance to see it one day. And that was all three days. But you had boot camp. Yeah, I did. You literally had to learn how to be there when she did a swan dive. Yeah, yeah, I was there. Wait, so she pulled a Jeff Hardy? Not a swan time. That's one time. No, right? Wasn't that thing when she dove and it was like an air mattress? She she dives into the stage. Yeah. Yeah. Oh my gosh. She pulled the fucking syncata. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Exactly. Yeah. But not botch. Yeah, exactly. No, but I think that would have been a good headline just to see at random. Like, you know, like, well, she decided to do this or whatever. She wanted to become a stunt woman. Yeah, but she did it. She did it. I do literally got certified to fucking water. Yeah. Pretty much. Pretty much certified, Swiftie. Yeah, certified, Swiftie. I'll take it. But it does. It's a title for future. For the future, for the future. But this is, this is, like I said, like I've said before, I was and I tell people all the time, like this is one of my favorite jobs I've ever had. It's like, I love it. We're living vicariously through you, bro. Well, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I will say this. One of my favorite jobs that I had. Well, I have to. The third would be when we work together. Yeah, but it's always fun. The other one was when I used to work at a graphic design place, even though I was working off the books and just the people who were so chill and just you know, me learning the craft more. Right, of course. And then the second one was my first job when I, you know, like my first official job when I was working at the movie theater. Yeah. Missed the, you know, the free movies, the misadventures. I don't, I don't want to get into the misadventures, but I will say this though, working at the movie theater, you know, a lot of stuff happens. Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. I've always known that a lot of things happen at theaters, even though never I worked in one. It's always, it's always been. But you already knew because, you know, you, you hung out with me. So yeah, yeah. You know, you live vicariously through my, you know, my, my, my telling of the tales, your trials and tribulations. Yeah. And I know from working at a theater as my first job, when I was in my teens, that the theater is only X amount of as big as what the building is actually and all the hidden locations in a very old building. Yeah. Yeah. You know what that I will, I will have to second that because that tracks. It makes sense. It makes sense. There's only, there's only so much room that the public sees. Yeah. There's a lot more. So, you know, in a way, in a way, that's sort of another way that we're all connected. Yeah. The three of us, we all have that experience of the ins and outs of buildings in where we see, we see outside the box because we know what goes inside the box. If you know what I'm saying. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. Absolutely. Oh my God. When they say what goes inside the box, we would have to end it there and the geeks shall hear it. Get back to everybody. See you. But if you really think about it, if you really think about how we were in the box. So, yeah. There we go. Yeah. But it's fun. It's fun. It's fun being in the box. Oh, yeah. Yes, it is. Especially when not everybody experiences it. So, then it's great to be in places that people spend hundreds and thousands of dollars to be at. We have paid to be there. It's fucking fantastic, dude. I love it. I have worked baseball games. I work football games. I were wrestling this year. I've done hockey. I've done concerts for artists that my parents actually listened to when I was younger. That's right. That's right. It's like you got to experience music you grew up on, but now you get to see it as an adult and in the moment, but not just not from the not from the spectator. Yeah. Thank you. You get to visualize it and experience it from the employee aspect of things to see what they see. Yeah. And not even just that. More than lines of that since it also brings nostalgia in a different way of like, you know, like how he said that he was, you know, with family, you know, like, like something his parents liked, like it, you know, you can kind of appreciate it in that aspect, like, you know, like them, like, okay, I get why my parents like this or whatever. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's great. It's great. Again, one of my favorite things that I've ever gotten to do. I love it. But now this kind of sort of fives, of course, we're each picking five different things. I would just go down the line. Not necessarily. It's all not everything's going to be in order. So now now and it's going to be all over the place. Right. Yeah. Again, we, yeah, you first, you were going to say it. We're we're we have everything. We have a level of a plethora of things. There's movies, there's music, there's TV shows, there's enemies, there's toys, there's so much fucking shit that we were into that we will just cover just a little bit of everything here, which is what we usually do anyway. So who wants to begin with their top fives? How about Alex go this time? Oh, yeah. Yeah, let's go Alex. Let's go. Okay. So the first one for me, it's going to be a movie. Okay. Okay. And one of the movies that I really liked this year, even though a lot of people, you know, probably didn't like it as much as I did, Ghostbusters frozen empire. Okay. It was so good though. Yeah. No, no, dude, it was. And you know, for me, the whole thing was this, and I know you and I talked about it, like, you know, immensely, Brian. Yeah. What I loved about it is that it really felt like an episode of the real Ghostbusters. That's why I love it. That's why I really loved about it. Okay. I still haven't seen it yet. Now I will say this though, and I know Brian will agree with me. It's not as good as afterlife, but it's still good. It was not as good as see after life felt like a standalone film, but still connected to the universe. Hence the, you know, the start of the film and the end of the film. But what, I mean, and you and I've talked about this a lot too, is that the thing about afterlife, or sorry, think about frozen empire, they recreated the interior of the firehouse, the point where Jason Reitman was sitting on the steps of the interior and remembered sitting on those steps as the kid. When his dad was filming the first movie and those steps didn't exist, he's remembering the original steps. And one of the greatest features of frozen empire was that there's moments when if you look at the ceiling or you look at the floor or certain levels of the building, the floor and ceiling, certain parts like directly lined up do not match to the other parts of the floor and ceiling, because that's to accommodate the rebuilt floor and roof from when the containment unit released in the original movie, and all the ghosts blew up through the roof of the original movie. I blame what was it? Gregory Peck? No, Gregory Peck was fucking, uh, uh, Gregory Peck's the actor's Walter Peck. Yeah, Walter Peck, there you go. I was like, yes, Gregory Peck to kill a mockingbird. All right, no, no, yeah. Like, I remember it was Peck, because then like the joke that I always remember was also that, you know, yes, this man has no dick from number two. Yeah, it's a pecking letter. It's a pecking letter. Yeah. So that sounds like in the future episode, I don't. So basically, uh, I still love the fact that the, uh, that the interior of the move of the set was so well designed that it paid so much homage to the original film. Um, and so, uh, and so, yeah, I'm going to agree, I'm going to agree with Alex with that being on the top five of movie lists for 2024. Um, I mean, like, like I said, this is just for me, you know, I mean, like, no, I'm with you on this. And I was, I was mulling over this too, because I remember he's pecking back on it. He's pecking back off of your movie. Because it, uh, I don't know if you have anything else to add, but if you're, if you don't, this then stems to something that I will add as one of my top five things of 2024. And this past week, so actually let's go. Let's rewind the clock back to October of last year. Has labs. So Hasbro's had's lab two years before was the afterlife ghostbusters proton pack, which got fully funded. I've talked about it a thousand times and put all the work and do it. Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta. So what's a proton pack without a trap and a pke meter? Right. So, so Haslab in October of last year, put out the crowd fund for the two in the box set, which was the pke meter and the track, uh, with the actual pedal where you hit the, you hit the pedal and the trap opens, makes ghost sounds and hit the trap again and closes and it's dope as hell. But, um, I, I received mine last week. So it was pretty fucking cool. It was pretty fucking cool. The trap is one of the coolest features. I've always wanted to be able to open and close a ghost trap ever since the days of ghostbusters movie to real ghostbusters when the, all the old school ghostbusters, you know, nerf sets and shit came out from back in the day. Okay. It was jealous that one of my friends had it and I didn't. I only had the, I only had the pack. Um, I never even got the pack or anything like that. Um, all I really got was more of the toys, you know, I had a, yeah, I had a bunch of those too. I had all of them in the car and everything else. So when you got it, did you scream? It's a, it's a trap. I should have known that after he used it, he did that line from number two or whatever, after you catch the scullary brothers to in the box, ready to go. We be fast and they be slow. Hell yeah. Well, that's the reason why, that's the reason why they call the two in the box. Yeah. Because it's, the trap comes with these two little, so the little, little bars on the side of the trap are red and the first movie and, and like silver on the second one. Uh, and if you take the little red pieces off the trap, but the silver one's on, it does the sounds for GB one or GB two, depending on what color. Um, really cool feature with the trap. You could actually separate the trap from the base so it's like the lightest green trap is clean kind of moment. Oh, that's cool. Yeah. That's cool. That is real cool. And with the peak of e-meter, one of the coolest features is it comes with the EMF reader, which, oh, it's an EMF and a toy, but if you hold it to something that generates a lot of electricity, the fucking, the, uh, the arms will go up higher, depending on the, you know, it'll know how much that's really cool. So it's like, oh, it's like, you know, if you put up to you and me, it's like, okay, it's doing nothing, but put it up to like your microwave, like going for like 30 seconds, you'll see the arms go up. I'm like, oh, that's pretty red. That's so, it's kind of like, if you're actually hunting ghosts, exactly. That's cool. We kind of funny if someone actually thought this was a real device. And they did that head like, oh my God, my microwave is haunted. So that will be my number five on top of Alex's number five. Well, actually, it's not even number five. It's just one of your list. Well, it's on the list. It's one of the, it was one of the five. Yeah. It's fine. It's one of the, so for Alex and I, it's, each one of us have a one of the five things, ghostbuster ish, ghostbuster ish. Hey, free and afraid of all ghosts. Nice, nice. Boston makes me feel good. And it goes busting me, busting makes a lot of you feel good. Fun times, fun times, fun times. Very cool, very cool. All right. So I guess that brings it to me, right? It does. Yeah, it does. So I mentioned I worked a lot of shows this year. I worked a lot of concerts. One of the concerts that I worked this year was 98 Rockfest, which is the Radio Rock Show, that Emily Arena. And for this Radio Rock Show, they have two shows, two stages. So the one stage is outside before the main show begins. So it's like the pre-show before the main show or whatever. Yeah. And one of the bands that before who actually headlined the outside stage, they were really good. And since then, like, I've been a really huge fan of theirs. To the point that one of their songs was one of my top songs for this year that I played on Spotify. Okay. The band is sleep theory. And I guess I'll just play the song since, you know, that's what we fucking do. And it's been a minute since we actually played music on the show. So let's play some sleep theater, sleep theory. Well, sleep theater, it's totally different. But yeah, sleep theory is numb. It's a great fucking song. They're not drinking theater. They're not drinking theater. No, not drinking theater at all. It's totally different. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Because you went to music, you went to movies. Let's go into another medium that we don't really talk much about. That's all your books. Yes, we are all audible too. You can find the show on Audible. But one of the books that I read that I listened to get read to me is an incident around the house. It's a horror book and it follows this girl Bella. It basically follows her and her family and how they're basically targeted by an entity called the other mommy. The book is told in the perspective of Bella. It's an fictional small town in Michigan and her mom is actually cheating on her dad and her dad knows and it's just a lot of shit going on and the daughter's like because the other mommy wants to take over Bella's body and she's like let me into your heart and she's like no she doesn't want to but then as a story goes she's kind of like I should just do this and fuck you mom and fuck you dad. It's just a twisted fucking story when you see the evolution of a child. Not just the evolution of a child but like the brain of a child just slowly start to turn to the wrong. It's a really good read. Definitely worth checking out. So definitely check out incidents around the house. I don't know why when you said "let me into your heart" or like that thing it was "kalima" And then when you were kind of explaining it for a second I was like are you talking about Coraline? It's very similar to Coraline. It's very similar but this isn't like in an upside down world. It's within the house and it's basically like an entity within the house. Let's try to take over her specifically. It's a great read like I said. Definitely check it out. So Alex it is your turn now sir. Okay so for my next thing I'm going to go with this with a series that just recently came out and like my reasoning for this is like the two main reasons it has to be creature commandos. Yes. And even right now we're currently on what is it for episodes right now and you know in the next few hours we're going to get the fifth episode. Oh yeah that's right. It's Thursday. Technically it's Wednesday but it's going into Thursday. Every Thursday they drive a new episode. So yeah what I really like about it is you know the back stories that they've given so far. They've all been crazy and they add lore to this. The second reason why I like it is that now we're building this new DC with DC Studios and this is technically the first property that is introducing this new take on it. And it also makes us look forward to what's to come. Because I mean what is it that Peacemaker is going to elaborate on how the old parts of the old still count but it doesn't. So that's something else to look forward to for like 2025 but so far this series has been only four episodes has really got me. Every episode is pretty much like not another part. All I got to say is that weasel episode really got me. I didn't want that's the one I have not watched yet. When you get the chance bro I'm telling you that weasel episode. Like Alex told me about it before. Before we recorded the last episode that we did together. And I watched it right after I was like wow this is it. Did it hit you? It did. It did. So it's going to hit me harder than GI robot did. Yeah. Yeah. Dude the GI robot one you know was just crazy. And even though hilarious as hell because you kind of knew what was going to happen. Yeah. Like I had that feeling as I'm watching that episode and I'm just like okay. It's going to happen. It's going to happen and then it happens and I was like knew it. Yeah but this one this one definitely hit you because you're like. Sad. It's super sad the way all the way that should play is up. It's definitely. Yeah so I guess if anything the next time when we record we can you know get my reaction. Next year and actually we'll get Brian's reaction. I love that since we're at the end of it. It always sounds like when you always see next year sounds such a long time. It sounds like it's so far away but no it's literally a week away. It's a it's like a hurdle to a way. Yeah. Yeah. All right so Brian what's yours dude. That's a great pick and I'm grateful that I'm alive enough to watch creature commandos and I'll explain that in the next episode. But so we might even call that don't die by part three. It's a trilogy. So for me I'm going to go into TV as well. Okay. And I got to say I've really been feeling Dexter original sin. Nice. Because as a fan of the series especially the first couple of seasons before it went to shit. The series was great and with original sin. With original sin they brought in this cast of characters back from the original series with a few new additions of course. But they brought these actors that are portraying younger versions of their selves from the first season of Dexter. And not only are not only is the set or not only are the sets perfect. The music is there the original musical score. Certain actors are particularly especially the actor playing Dexter Morgan. Really play the part like you look like you're watching the series and you think you're watching Dexter. Like you see this kid be Michael C. Hall. You see this other guy. Oh that's Batista. Wait that's not David's day is and you're like going. Wait what. And that's fucking cool. It's it's so well done. And there's. There's this one dude who plays a young Vince Masuka. Who. He must have studied C. S. Lee like to the point where like. He has his mannerisms like creepiness that perviness and then like all of a sudden he'll just break out that last. And you're like yo. Like this dude is. And so they know in it. We're on three because they did the. So. There was a little tiny promo that aired. With Sarah Michelle Geller and Michael C. Hall's like Merry Christmas. You're not just getting one episode you're getting to. So like. So we're three episodes in because they gifted us an extra episode. Next past week. It's definitely worth it. The dive into the backstory of. Plots that we've seen in the original series. But with. More depth. And inside you're like oh they're going there. Oh I remember that. They were spending on the Lord like oh. Got it. Okay. Okay. So that's on my list of things. Nice. Nice. I need to check that out because of course I am a fan of the show not as much as a fan as you are but. I need to watch it again and then get into this one as well. Definitely worth it. Well like it makes you for it sort of makes you. Think that the writers. Said hey we fucked up too many times with the original series. Let's take it back to. Let's pretend none of that happened. Let's take it back to basics. Yeah let's take it back to remember when Dexter was a team. Yeah. And it works. Okay. I think you're going to see more of the lines of like. Do you remember when the show actually made it you know like when it was actually working right. And then we didn't love up the ending. Which is which is why I said take it back to the basics. And what's crazy is that the fact that like. This prequel sets up the next chapter in Dexter's adult life like it's. Because we're getting as we talked about it on on previous episodes we're getting. Resurrection. Which is the first blood. Next chapter. Right. So this sets that up. It's like it sets it up so quick. And then it's like well we're not here about that. We have like him. Doesn't this show also the that the. That original saying or whatever doesn't that also. Isn't the next season or this season supposed to be also doing with John. If God's character also. I heard something about that. What I sent you guys and we'll talk well I mean we'll deep dive more later on is that this. Is doing so well that the writers are. The writers are doing. The writers are basically doing a spinoff series of Trinity. Okay. Okay. And it's green. It's green lit so it's going to happen. So the writers are doing a Trinity killer spinoff when Trinity was a kid. Or team. So that too will be fucking insane. That's going to be dope. That's going to be dope. Because I think that was the last you know they watched. That's the. They didn't know what to do after that. Yeah of course because you can't top fucking John Lithgow. You cannot top John Lithgow. Okay. So more more than that in the next episode. Sure. Very cool. Very cool. So I guess that leads to me again right. Alright. Alright so. The next few of course are going to be movies. Of course because I have watched a lot of movies as well. I didn't know which order to go in with these movies because they're all great. And I think I'll go with the first one that I watched this year so far. This year not so far but this year. It was alien Romulus. Where this movie actually takes place a few years. Before alien. And it's fucking cool. Basically a space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe while scavenging scavenging in the deep ends of the derelict spaceship. I'm sorry. So they go into the spaceship and they see some shit that they're not supposed to be at. It's an absolutely fantastic fucking movie. A great addition to the alien franchise. I fucking love it. I was a huge fan of it. I've seen it multiple times since I watched it in theaters. And every time I watch it I'm like oh this movie's fucking great. It's fucking really good. It's done by Fede Alvarez who's done a bunch of shit. And he just knows how to handle horror really well. I need everything. Everything he needs to do everything. It's just so good. He did the 2013 Evil Dead that people were very skeptical about but it's still pretty fucking good. He did um don't breathe. Just fucking fantastic. He's done a lot. And this one is fucking great. So if you haven't checked it out yet go watch it. It's fucking good. Definitely worth checking out like I said. It's one of my favorites of the year. And it once were you wrong. So Alex what's your next one sir? Well my next one is going to be one that you know that it's like kind of obvious but it's been one one piece. I was just thinking that. So like so what is it the egg head islands of you know saga which even though they cut they kind of cut it short because like they put like the first part. And from there they had the egg head island part so that then it goes to this special episode that they had called one piece fan letter. Which was kind of an episode of you see it from the perspective of like secondary characters and all that stuff. It was in the one piece world during an event. When when you know when when the show hats got back together. And it was kind of like a like kind of a thank you letter to the fans if you know and it was very very emotional. And then currently right now they're they're redoing an old arc. But it's like kind of like a little updated. And they're taking a break you know from the egg head to do this one which is the fish man island saga. And that's the that's been fun too like you know it's it's fun revisiting and seeing it you know kind of in a newer way. Okay, even though you know it's like like oh I've seen this before but it looks a lot nicer you know. But yeah dude like like I say I will I will speak the you know the the love of one piece you know as if it was like a religion because dude this shit is just wonderful. Like I know like Brian doesn't it's not a fan of anime or whatever but if if ever he wanted to give something a chance or whatever. Yeah, okay okay yeah even though I know he's not going to do it but. But yeah it's it happens it happens. But yeah but that that's that's my pick for you know like this is love 2024 like this actually one piece and I I've told you before seemed like joking around this is that one piece has been kind of like my my unofficial therapist. So the thing is like I want to watch one piece but it's just too much to get into. Now let me be honest with you dude like and I think I told you this before there is a list of enemies like you know of like the you know with the most episodes. Yeah yeah but one piece it's just number 10 on on the list of the like you know of enemies that have like you know like a bunch of episodes so I'm just you know I'm just saying. And even with that it's just there's so many people that watch like you know well I mean like I don't like it but people watch stuff like Grey's Anatomy and I'm just like you know if you want to watch a better doctor you can watch house but whatever. Hey you know like listen I don't want to shoot at anybody's yum or whatever the fuck but yeah but but one piece. That's that's one of my top five. Very cool so very cool. Brian what about you dude. I'm just thinking it's been one piece and you looked at it. How many each have we had so far. This is our third one. Four. Hmm. No this is my third. I just gave you my third one. Well remember your last so you know. Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah. So we're on number four. Yes. All right. I guess my fourth one will have to again be music. Okay. And I'm going to go. And it's I'll go album sure but also go track primarily. Okay. This will be Miles Kennedy's The Art of Letting Go is the album. It's his. Third solo album and Charlie and I have spoken about this numerous amount of times. But the track Miss you when I'm Miss you when I'm gone. There's a video to it and the lyrics hit and it's sad as fuck and it. It's so fucking good. I mean it's quiet. So that's that's what I'm looking for right now. It's kind of funny how you mentioned Charlie. I was like I spoke to him earlier today too. We had it. We had a good talk from that. You know. It's been one. Let's do a live version of it. All right. Yeah. You don't do the video? Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, there's there's a live version of the live version video for it acoustic one. Yeah. I played that too. Yeah. Yeah. It's been one week. She spoke to Charlie. Hold on. Let me know. We you know we've we've we've text one another but it's been. While like you know that we've actually had him on the phone. Exactly. This song is tough. Yeah. Two or two others as they do to you. Cause in the end that's all that you can do. Keep these words before you break my heart. You did it all. You lived a thousand lives. You saved me and how much you sacrificed. Mom is lost and now we drift apart. Ooh. Ooh. This is gonna hurt like hell. Ooh. So save yourself. Ooh. This is the time move on. We just can't alas. We forget too soon. All things must pass but I miss you when you're gone. I'm gonna miss you when you're gone. No one can fault you for the things you've done. You risked it all on how could you become? Came the world only to lose yourself. Ooh. This is gonna hurt like hell. Ooh. So save yourself. Ooh. This is the time move on. This can't alas. We forget too soon. All things must pass. I miss you when you're gone. I'm gonna miss you when you're gone. It will be long to take the final bow. When the curtain calls I won't be found. But I miss you when you're gone. I'm gonna miss you when you're gone. The road you found alone. It never ends. A long tomorrow road. Yeah. Lift you spare. Ooh. Ooh. This is the time move on. This can't alas. We forget too soon. All things must pass. I miss you when you're gone. I'm gonna miss you when you're gone. It won't be long to take the final bow. When the curtain calls then I won't be found. But I miss you when you're gone. I'm gonna miss you when you're gone. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That was awesome. It just cuts feet. Yeah. Absolutely. It really does. I got you guys liked it. I'll be honest with you. Like, you know, listen. Everyone has their taste. Like, it was alright, you know. But, you know, whatever. You know, to me was just like, hey, look, it's younger Steven Tyler. Yeah. Better. But yeah. Better than Steven Tyler, I think. I'm just saying, all I kept looking at, like, when I saw the dude play, like, you know, not like guitar, you know, he was good. And the vocals were really good. But to me, all I kept seeing was like, damn, it's fucking like a young Steven Tyler there. And the thing about the music video, though, it's an animated, it's an animated video. Like, it just shows you the tale of this young kid growing up. And it's like Ghostbusters and my pet monster and all these little things. A lot of the sounds grew up. Yeah. Gotcha. And so that just hit. And that's probably one of my favorite Miles Kennedy tracks to date of his solo career. It's a good song. Yeah. He's got a lot of good songs. He's actually really good. He's phenomenal. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Very good. Thank you, Brian. Thank you. You're welcome. Steve. Steve. So this is a movie that the next one is the movie that actually, um, watched recently, recently within like the last two weeks or so, and like, I was completely blown away by this movie. I was like, yeah, it's fucking good, especially having Hugh Grant in it. Somebody that we've always known to be, you know, like, oh, yeah, he's a nice guy. He's a super nice guy. Not in this movie. Oh. So. And the movie I'm talking about is heretic, uh, where I was. I wasn't joking around saying we're huge. Like, you know, it's always the nice guys you have to worry about. Yeah. Yeah. And he is, um, this movie for parrotic follows two young missionaries, Morgan, uh, Mormon missionaries that are, uh, pretty much ensnared in a deadly game of cat and mouse when they are locked in the doors of, you know, behind the doors of the diabolical mystery. And, um, they're traveling his house and they have to pretty much turn to their faith. Okay. If they want to come out alive. It is absolutely fucking fantastic. Hugh Grant plays a huge devil's advocate in trying to get these girls to do things, not necessarily do things because they don't, he doesn't really do, he doesn't really tempt them in ways you say per se, but he talks to them and he's like questioning their faith and questioning what they believe in and trying to see like, Oh, is, are they really down for this is the way they should be? And then there, there's like, it's, the house is pretty much turned into a mane. So they could go one way and they want to be in the same way again. It's fucking nuts, definitely worth checking out. It's absolutely fucking fantastic. Again, Hugh Grant needs an award for this movie. It's fucking fantastic, definitely worth checking out is it's, I think it's on VOD right now. So it has a really hit streaming, right? But there are ways to procure it. So definitely, you know, I would say give it a few, like, you know, a few weeks or whatever it'll probably be on maybe by the, you know, like early or mid-January. Right. Exactly. As I'm this goes up, it'll probably be out somewhere, but yeah, definitely worth watching. Check it out. It's fucking good, heretic, it's fucking fantastic. One of my top of the year, obviously, Alex, what is your next one, sir? Well, my fifth one, it's the last work that Akira Toriyama, you know, put out there before he's, you know, passed, which is Dragon Ball Daima. Oh, okay. And so far, this, you know, they're like on 11, 12 episodes right now, but so far it's been, it's been fun. It has like the, the comedy of like old school, original Dragon Ball and, you know, and some hints of Dragon Ball Super where that does have comical moments, but the action too has been amazing too. So, you know, that like some of the fights have been fucking crazy and it's just been a fun watch, man. Very cool. I, you know, honestly, like I haven't watched Dragon Ball since the original and probably some of Super, but I haven't watched it in ages. When you mean the original, you're talking about Z or you're talking about Dragon Ball from the 80s? Z. Okay. Dragon Ball from the 80s, yeah, I saw some of it, not a lot of it, mostly Dragon Ball Z. Yeah. Well, you know, growing up when I, you know, when I was in junior high school and everything, that's when I got introduced Dragon Ball Z and I loved it so much and, you know, when, you know, when that initial run did finish, that I backtracked to the original Dragon Ball and that was, that was a fun watch. Yeah. That was a fun watch. And then, you know, the only thing, even though it wasn't direct, like, Toriyama had nothing to do with it was GT and GT was like, the premise was a cool premise, just a presentation and what they put out there wasn't that good? Got you. So because of what they did with GT, that's when Toriyama came, you know, came back out with Super to kind of like, you know, make up, like, you know, and kind of like say like, well, GT kind of happened, we really didn't happen, you know, kind of like a revisionist history type thing. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Okay. Okay. So yeah, that goes, that goes my thing. So Brian, what about you, dude? How can we go through this entire episode without mentioning X-Men 97? That's such a great fucking show. That's my number. That's my number one pick for, and I know we can do a true top five, we just did five stuffs. Yeah. But like, that's the top, that's the number one right there. X-Men 97. That's fair. That's fair. Yeah. It's a great fucking show. It's a great throwback bro today. It's a throw. The animation was modern, but taken down a notch because it's the 90s. Yeah. This is a switch to the other way. It's the original animation just slightly bumped up to today. Fine. Either way, you slice it. It was so fucking good. Yeah. Yeah. Speaking of slicing, they took away rogues cake. So I'm just saying there was this like downgrade. This is fair. That's fair. Yeah. That tracks. I mean, so many pivotal moments of that series that left you as such are break. Yeah. Like the lack of rogues cake. This is, we're not naming episode titles, Alex. Yeah. No, that's a day. That's a day. It's a title roasting. Better future episode title gluten free rogue. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, no, I'm glad because now we're track as a title gluten free rogue. Yep. Yep. Oh, yes. So, yes, it's a 90. Oh. X man. 97. Are we done? Can we speak? Yeah. You keep going. Hey, is it real or is it cake? It's not real. Oh. We got so many years hearing about what they're going to potentially do with X man. And then we got X man 97 and it was pretty much a direct continuation from the. Yeah. It's from 97. Yeah. And whoever was still around voiced their characters. Mm hmm. And so many iconic. It's stupid fucking one liners. Yeah. They did so well with it. It was so, it's just so good. And then like. Even though they didn't give me the case. Still like. Oh, God. So many iconic one liners and like. What I, what I love to was when. Jubilee and, and I forget the kid's name. The rich kid who is parents and I was a mutant. Yeah, Spanish kid. Yeah. Yeah. And because it was the 90s. Dude is like, Oh, here's my pager number. Mm hmm. And you're like, wait, no cell phone. No, because it's the 90s. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, uh, X, the 97 is the fifth and final thing on my list. Good. It's a good thing. It's a great thing. It was just really fucking good. Yeah. Yeah. The fact that. Two prominent characters. Had an amazing season. Yes. That you weren't expecting, I was unexpected to go that way with, for either one of them. No. Granted, I'm not spoiling anything. It's not Disney watching. Exactly. Go check it out. It's a fucking great show. Go back and go back and watch the original series before you. Yeah. Yeah. Well, at least the, at least the last season of the original. That's it. Cause this one, this one leads directly into it or from it. By the way, by the way, Cal Dodd as Wolverine. Yeah. He came back to play Wolverine and it's like, dude, you, you never left. No. It's fucking good. I would just say, you know, just for those that like, you know, why, if you're going to watch it, do watch the original so you can understand what the Wolverine meme is. The Wolverine meme is more. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Just, you really just gotta go on YouTube and watch that one scene. Yeah. Yeah. It's not really necessary to see it for the meme, but it's a good fucking show. It's definitely worth watching. Even the original is definitely worth watching. Also, the original series is fucking fantastic. Yeah. Granted, yes, there are, there are a lot of nostalgia barriers just worrying, just talking about it, but it is a really good show. So, I guess this goes to you now, Steven. Yes, it is my last, my last pick for today. So sad. So sad. It's almost over. That's like for the year. Yes. My last pick for the year. My last pick for the main thing afterwards, if, if, if onto, we can do an honorable mention afterwards. We could, we could do an honorable mention. I do have, I think, one honorable mention. I can think about. I do too. So, my, my, my top pick, because this movie is absolutely fucking fantastic. And Demi Moore deserves a nod for this too. And I'm talking about the substance. Oh, yeah. That movie. Oh, it is so good. It is probably one of the best movies. Well, no, not probably. It is the best movie of the year. One of Demi Moore's greatest roles that we've ever seen her in. Yeah, she was in J.I. Jane. Yes, she did a bunch of other shit. But this one specifically kind of shows you where she's going and where she's been and how she's evolved as an actress. So, the substance basically follows Elizabeth Sparkle, a renowned, renowned for a, for an aerobic show. And she faces a devastating blow on her fifth, the fifth birthday. As her boss is fire her, a miss the, a miss her the rest, a laboratory offers her a substance, which promises to transform her into an enhanced version of herself. So, what the substance does is it basically, she injects herself and it pretty much spawns another version of her, my younger version of her. And it is absolutely fucking nuts. All right, the substance becomes the better stars of shit, right? Yeah, yeah, it basically she takes over her spot as a regular person. Okay. And she starts to, she starts to get roles, she starts to become famous to the point that she's like, you know, like, I can't just go back and forth because what she's supposed to do, she's supposed to, on one week off another and go back and forth. And they're supposed to help each other because they both live off of each other. Right. So it's like clay face sort of. Kind of, yeah. And then as the story goes, the new one starts to get, say, Oh, I want to do more. I want to do more. I want to do more. Basically, leaving to Demi Moore, starting to get old and older and older and older. Right. To the point that she has no hair. Right. Exactly. And then they just start to morph and she starts to morph into other things and it just becomes a huge body horror. It's fucking nuts. Definitely, definitely, definitely worth watching. And it's already streaming now, right? I believe it might be. I think I'm prime. Let me check. Let me check. I know it was on this site called MUBI. It is for rent on Amazon Apple TV, but yeah, it is on MUBI as well. So if you get just like a free trial of MUBI, you can watch it and then just cancel it. Um, MUBI movie. Um, again, it's an absolutely fantastic movie. Definitely worth watching. Definitely. Once you see it, you're going to say, Oh, shit, dude. It's so good. The other girl that plays her, her doppelganger, I guess you can say. Or her clone. Just say that. The clone of her. It's fucking fantastic also. Because you start to learn and she starts to do all these things. It's just like, it's just so good. It's so good. Yes. And Demi Moore still got it, man. If you, if you are the wrestling show and she was wrestling, she'd be like, you still got it. Yeah, exactly. There you go. You get it. Um, but yeah, so fucking good. I was going to say, joking around, you forgot one role that I loved her in. Um, dude, you forgot that she was in Beavis in Butthad to America. That's right. I think you're going to say a piece. That's what I thought you were going to say. That's what I really thought you were going to say. Yeah. No, I was like a few weeks back, you know, um, catching up on the new episodes of Beavis in Butthad and then, you know, how like after you're done with something, they're like, you know, you can watch this. Yeah, yeah. And they show Beavis in Butthad to America and I was like, that's right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And she was going against her then husband Bruce Willis. Mm hmm. Mm hmm. Oh yeah. And Dennis Quaid. Yes. Thank you, Mario. Mario's in the chat right now. Dennis Quaid. Holy shit. Dennis Quaid is going to miss as well. Um, he plays her, her agent or whatever. And he's just a weirdo and the way that it's shot, especially all the shots with Dennis Quaid, they're like super sewn then on his face, like very super close up to his mouth. There's some point that he's eating and he's just like chewing and his mouth is working. And it's just like fucking gross, dude. So he's morphing into his son, Jack. Yeah. Cause Jack Queen looks so much like his dad, as Jack Queen's gotten older. Yeah. Yeah. No, but Dennis Quaid. So fucking good. He's always. Yeah. But we haven't really seen him do a lot of things as of late. No, no, he's taking time. But this one specifically, he does so well as. Sparkles agent. You're just like, what the fuck, dude? And he's like, oh, yeah, you're so good. You're so good. It's like how you expect agents to be just like super like to 100. And they're just like, what the fuck? And he's just like a gross. He's just a gross fucking dude. They just like, get the fuck away from me. He's just, he just does it so well. And he's so good. Everybody within this world is fucking awesome. Definitely worth checking out again. Watch it. The substance. My absolute favorite movie of the year. Um, I guess you want to do honorable mentions, Alex? Yes. So, and I'm surprised that nobody brought it up, but I will say this. So the penguin. It's such an amazing thing. The penguin. The penguin. Yeah, yeah. Ma. And ma. That's kind. Like, man. Like, I was telling Steve before we started recording that this series actually made me somewhat care about the Matt Reeves, the Batman. Even though I, like I said, like the Batman is a good movie. I just didn't like it as a Batman movie, but like I said, my opinion. But the penguin, the penguin character, like when I, when initially when I first saw it, you know, and the data is like meh. And then when I saw this series, it was like. I actually, we like this character. And that whole thing, that whole arc between the, you know, the, the relationship between him and Vic. Oh, man. Oh, yeah. And actually shout out to all my family that's worked on that. You guys know who you are. Proud of you all, because that you literally made. New York into Gotham versus where Matt Reeves Batman was New York, Chicago and London. So they had to recreate shots. And turn one spot into something else. Yeah. So, yeah. Shout out to y'all. The great fucking show. Definitely, definitely. Definitely check it out. You know, the scene, the scene, the scene where they had him as a kid. The episode with him as a kid. Yeah. I mean, at this point, at this point, the fucking show has been on. Yeah. We can talk about it. Yeah. Yeah. Yes, that whole episode was just darker than dark. Yeah. And shout out to my kid for really playing the part, man. Yeah. I hope he sticks with the craft because I'm curious to see what he's going to do next. Yeah. Very curious. I still say one of my favorite episodes has to be the episode when they're in the club, when, you know, when they introduce the drug. The bliss. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that one was a really good episode. The last episode was really good, too. Yeah, like the final, you know, the final third of it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Such a good show. Yeah. So it really makes me look forward to what's going to happen next. Yes, they did say they were going to be season two, but I do want to see what they're going to do with the Batman II. I mean, we'll see. Yeah, we'll see what Batman to set in the winter setting for frick's sake. Yeah. Is it going to be a Mr. Freeze winter or is it just going to be winter? Let us have, I mean, the only other time we've had Mr. Freeze in theater was just chill. I still need you. The Iceman promise. Oh, God. I love that he pays one of her. There's a dollar a year to keep that suit. Of course. I wonder if you. Yeah, I would too. I don't know why, but I would just love to see if like, you know, he does like one Halloween just gets back into the suit. I'm almost positive. He still does. I wouldn't be surprised. He walks around gun. Nice to meet you. Chill out. Well, when we had snow and so you, you know, I mean, Alex knows because he lives in New York, but you know, Steve, we had snow in New York, like Christmas Eve. Mm hmm. And so like, immediately like, the Iceman comment. So it's snow, I don't miss it. Brian, what's your next honorable mention? Sticking in the world of Batman, something that else that I'm shocked you guys specifically did not talk about. The, uh, the one animated. Yeah. I forgot about it. The Batman cake crusader, good call. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I can believe we're out about it. That's a great series. That series was so good. And so the chef's kiss to the old school animated series. Uh huh. And how much link later really doing his best to do his best. Conroy. Yep. And nailing it. I really hope they keep him as Batman for the next few years. Oh yeah. For the next few projects. I would love to. I would love being that I'm on, uh, my, I'm still on my replay of Batman Arkham City. I only have like 57 trophies left. Riddler coming for you. Uh, Tom Tom Tom Tom Tom and only like, you know, really only with those trophies, like. 37 of them are Catwoman. Nice. Nice. Yeah. Uh, so. I would love a Batman game and it's him. Mm hmm. I'll tell for it. Or I'll take an animated movie. Or both. Yeah. Another one. We'll go to foot. Yeah. Very. That's, uh, that's my honorable mention. The answer. Yeah. That's good. That was a great fucking, uh. Great. Great. I mean, a series. Nice. Very cool. Very cool. I could joke around saying, Hey Steve, what's your Batman centric? I'm, you know, honorable. Um, I don't have a Batman centric. Uh, uh, you know, honorable mention. Yeah. What you want. Yeah. Whatever. Um, it's actually a concert that actually worked. Um, of course, like I've mentioned, I've done a lot of shows. I actually started with a show and I'm ending with a show. Um, I worked Domomar over the summer. And not only this, for this show, I actually wasn't outside. I was inside for the entirety of the show. And, um, I'm an admin. I'm an admin. It's weird. Sometimes it won't be outside. So that will be inside. Sometimes we'll do both for this one specifically. I was in the VIP area first, helping up everybody. All the fans that were in the VIP are going for, you know, a meeting, great experience with him. And then I was moved from there to be. By the stage for the show. And this was one of those shows that. I knew every single song that was being played from beginning to end. And there were fans in front of me because I was right by the stage. Handing the barricade. And the fans were like, yo, you're the best security guard I've ever seen. Because I did my job on top of enjoying myself when I was there. People that were like in VIP in front of. Other people that I was pretty much like, yo, you guys can't be over here. You got to go. You got to go. I had to make sure that they were cool in that section. And it was just an amazing time. This dude, he had a huge health care, health care a few years ago. He got over that, came back with dancers. He had pyro. He did it all by himself. He had no features. He went on for two hours straight. Absolutely fucking fantastic show. Definitely worth watching. Or definitely going to. Though I'm not alive. So good. So fucking good. And then Mario actually in the chat, he actually has another honorable mention. Something that I watched and I fucking love too is Asriel on Shutter right now. But it starts tomorrow weaving and she's pretty much, this movie's pretty much a silent movie for her. Or it's a silent movie in general. And she's just running. She's just on the run. The entire time. And it's fucking nuts. It's a really good fucking movie. Have you guys seen the trailer for this one? No. Okay, let's watch the trailer for this. Because it's such a good fucking movie. This one came out earlier this year for, of course, people don't really know much about it. But it's really damn good. It makes you know ads. Yeah, no, no ads on this one. Went straight to it. Let's watch the trailer for, Asriel. [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying] [Crying]
