Leadership is a frequent, frequently addressed topic you're writing, research, articles, much more. Shows up in daily conversation. It's an issue that takes up mental space in many of our minds and shelf space in many of our offices. Leadership is an aspect of our lives that many of us wanna grow at. Many of us have invested time into conferences, into workshops, into materials, into mentoring, maybe even into degrees and more to get better at. Leadership is important, a lot rides on leadership and good leadership is hard to come by. But what if I was to tell you that someone's decisions, someone's thinking, someone's attitude when it came to following was just as important. Just as important. Following and specifically our understanding, our skills and our choices around how we frequently go about following, our choices, skills and understandings that we oftentimes have simply assumed. We assume that we're pretty good at following. I mean, think about it. When was the last time you walked into a Barnes and Noble and found the section on following, right? Now, you can walk into any major bookstore. There's all kinds of shelves dedicated to leadership. The topic, how to lead, and how to do much more. Now, within there, you're gonna find a sprinkling of titles on teamwork, okay? But they're gonna be far in the minority. But you're gonna look at some aspects in there, shared leadership, but that's gonna be the extent of things. Good luck finding even a title dedicated to following or how to submit to other people's decisions. When it comes to the idea of following, we really aren't very interested in getting better at it. Frankly, most of us would probably like to do a little less of it, right? Why? Well, certainly as people, we can struggle with the tempting desire to control on one hand
