Good morning, everyone, and welcome back to Caden Kubler Sports Radio on K-C-A-A-1050AM and 106.5 FM. I'm your host, Caden Kubler, and we've got the first two weeks of the NFL season in the books. Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, and Bill Belichick all sit at 0-2. I'll tell you which of these teams I believe will bounce back. And we've got another segment of Old Head vs. Newcomer, where we all disagree with who the front runner for this year's MVP is. I've got all that and more. Week 3 of the NFL season is here, and let's wait no longer. This is Caden Kubler Sports Radio every Sunday from 7-8 AM, talking all things sports and counting you down for NFL Sundays. We're two weeks into the NFL season, and there's been some very surprising slow starts from some of these teams in the NFL. Let's start with three teams that are all 0-2 who have playoff aspirations and expectations. The most shocking team on this list has to be the Cincinnati Bengals. Just like last year, they have again started slow and they're currently 0-2. A lot of people are concerned about the Bengals as their last place in the AFC North, but I think the biggest problem with this team is Joe Burrow's health. In the Ravens game, after he threw a touchdown, he hobbled over to the sideline, and it looks like he re-aggravated that calf. Shannon Sharp made a great point on this the other day on first take and said, "When have you seen a player get healthier as the season progresses?" If the Bengals in Burrow want to climb out of this 0-2 hole, they can't do it with Burrow on the sideline. I talked about last week how the Bengals are notorious for starting slow. Last year, they also went 0-2 and through eight weeks of the season they were 4-4. But they made it back to the AFC Championship and had a real shot at making the Super Bowl. So I don't think there's any reason to panic on this team as well. Their schedule gets a little easier over the next four weeks where they'll play the Rams at home, the Titans on the road, the Cardinals on the road, and then the Seahawks at home. If I had to guess, they'll go 3-1 through that stretch and sit at 3-3 before they face their challenging remaining schedule. Joe Burrow is currently questionable for Monday night, so let's put Zack Taylor in a very interesting position whether he wants to start him or not. On one hand, you can't lose on Monday night and go 0-3 and put yourself in that hole. But on the other hand, your franchise quarterback has a lingering injury, and on the other side of the ball, one of the best defensive linemen of all time, Aaron Donald, is ready to tee off on this offensive line. Not to mention, the Rams have been playing some good football through the first two weeks without their best offensive player, Cooper Cup. Realistically, there's no way Joe Burrow sits out this game. His competitive spirit and nature just simply won't allow that. But Monday night's going to be a big game for the Bengals as they'll be playing with a lot of desperation. I'm not panicking on them, and I do believe that they'll get back in the race for the division. I believe that this team will heat up as their season progresses, and you can count on some fun matchups in the second half of their season. So don't count out the Bengals quite yet. Another team that's had a very surprisingly slow start is the Los Angeles Chargers. They're also sitting at 0-2 and there's some definite uncomfort in that organization. I believe head coach Brandon Staley's seat is heating up very fast. This team has way too much talent to be underperforming this hard. Last year, you could make the case that injuries were the reason this team was underperforming. This year, they're finally healthy and they simply don't have any more excuses. But I'm also not ready to give up on the Chargers quite yet. In their first two weeks, they played the Dolphins at home and then the Titans on the road. I believe both of these teams are very solid, not to mention they lost these games combined by five points. And this defense is looking absolutely atrocious. Through the first two weeks of the season, they're giving up the third most points per game, and they'll play a very explosive Vikings offense next week. The Chargers' offense has obviously been carrying this team as they've scored the sixth most points per game through the first two weeks. But I'd like to see Herbert do more to win these close games. In the final drive of the Titans game, the Chargers had the ball down too, got it all the way down to the red zone, but failed to score a touchdown to take the late lead. Instead, they kicked a field goal and went into overtime. And then they won the coin toss and immediately went three and out. The Titans then drove down the field and won the game. If the Chargers want to win games, Herbert and this offense are going to have to simply bail out this defense. And with the Chargers struggling and the Dolphins heating up, the yearly debate comes back whether Tua is a better quarterback than Justin Herbert, and I'm not falling for it. Tua is having an incredible season and I do believe he's a top ten quarterback in the league. But if the entire NFL did a redraft and I had the opportunity to take Justin Herbert or Tua on my team, I'm taking Justin Herbert every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Herbert is still a top five quarterback in the league and he's not going anywhere. If the Chargers can get somewhat of a rhythm back, I believe this team will be sitting around three and four to four and four after the first seven to eight weeks. Their schedule gets a lot easier in the second half of the season and I expect the Chargers to make a late season push. I pick the Chargers to win the AFC West over the Chiefs and I'm not backing down. I believe this division is going to be very close and it'll come down to week 18 where the Chiefs go on the road at Los Angeles to play the Chargers. And then the final 0-2 team that's very surprising is the New England Patriots. This is another 0-2 team that I'm very optimistic about. In their first two games of the season, they played two of the top five hardest teams in the league. They lost in a close game against Philadelphia 25-20 and lost in a very close game to the Dolphins 24-17. In both of these games, they had opportunities to take the leader tie late in the fourth quarter. Obviously, they came up short, but I'm still very optimistic for this team. Let's start on the defensive side of the ball. The New England Patriots have a top five defense in the league and man can they draft cornerbacks. Christian Gonzales out of Oregon is looking like the defensive rookie of the year after two weeks and he's an assassin. His interception that he made last week going up and high pointing that football over Tyree Kill was incredible. It's obviously on the offensive side of the ball where this team slows down a lot. With Bill O'Brien calling plays, this offense looks significantly improved from last season. But you can tell they really lack big playability. And it's because this team has failed to go get a true number one wide receiver for Mac Jones. A guy that the Patriots signed this off-season in Juju Smith-Shuster hasn't seen the field much as he's recovering from a knee injury. But Mac Jones looks a lot more comfortable in this system and I believe that the Patriots offense is good enough to keep this team in games. I mean, you look at the back-to-back brutal losses that the Patriots had. The toe tap on the sideline for the game winning drive against the Eagles and then not converting the fourth down with Cole Strange, the offensive lineman making an incredible play. It seems like the Patriots are one piece away from being a Super Bowl contender and that's going out and getting Mac Jones a true X receiver. I'm also not panicking on the Patriots. I still believe they'll have a good season and they'll put themselves in playoff contention. You know what time it is, ladies and gentlemen. We're back with another segment of Oldhead versus Newcomer. What's going on, gentlemen? Good morning. How's it going? How's it going? Let's start in the NFL here. We're at the end of week two and there's been some surprising teams that have disappointed. The Chargers, Bengals, and Patriots all sit at 0-2. Newcomer, which winless team should we be the most concerned about? You know, it's a really interesting question. I'm going to go with the Patriots out of those three. I know a lot of people are concerned about the Bengals start to the season. But, you know, keep in mind that they started out 0-2 last year. I'm not too concerned about the Bengals. The Bengals offensive line has looked way better this year than last year. And this is definitely going to be a nagging entry for Burrow, you know, through possibly the whole season. But if he can push through, I could see this team realistically being a wildcard team just by their own two-starred. And, you know, the Chargers, you know, you can panic a little bit, but you don't have to panic a lot. I think if you're a Chargers fan, the biggest realization you have to make is friends, failures, and terrible coach. He's not the future coach of the team. And he's, you know, he's made coaching errors both in the game so far. He's not helping Justin, or he's not helping Justin elevate his play. And the team I'd be most concerned about is definitely the Patriots. You know, the Patriots offense, they have the 27th ranked run offense so far. And they're throwing the ball a crazy amount, the fourth amount, the fourth most in the league. And, you know, that type of offense can only work if explosive plays are happening all the time. This team cannot create explosive plays. And they're next, you know, a few games, Jets, Cowboys, Saints, Raiders, Bills, Dolphins. You know, if the Patriots start out 1-5, 2-4, it's really going to take the season. It's going to take Max confidence. And, you know, this is really a time to panic for all Patriots fans. If this season continues to go this way, this can really be the end of the bill. I'll check Max Jones there in my opinion. All that would be thoughts. Well, that was tremendous. I guess information there. I think we're probably going to differ a little bit. Is I definitely think when you look at all three teams, you know, totally. I guess I wouldn't say I thought New England was unexpected. I feel like they're still in that rebuild, especially Jones beyond a project. I think with that new coach, but I would say when I view expectations, I look at it as where was the, what was the original, like expectation to start the year. And you would say the bingles to the AFC Championship of the Super Bowl. Chargers, if they're not going to the AFC Championship this year, do this for sure. They're going to get fired, the head coach. And then New England, I think a big victory for them is just to make the wild card because Max Jones is still a project. They're trying to build around it. Belichick is still the Phil Jackson with a little bit more of them. Bad mood all the time that he had with the Lakers, but he's a Zen master out there. So I think, you know, if it were right, I would say expectations are lower for New England. So I think there's not as much concern there. I definitely think that if your Chargers wife, assuming he's married, she's already probably worried that they're going to be shopping for new houses because, maybe he chokes like that at home too at the end of the day. You know, she says, "Hey, honey, let's go to bed early tonight." And he falls asleep on the couch. I mean, the dude just can't close. And you saw that last year at the playoffs. And I think once that's a psychological thing, you never get rid of it. Which I think when you're looking at all three, you would go New England. So I do what we expected Cincinnati burrows going to come to life. They'll at least make the playoffs. If he doesn't get to, they have to championship. That's a boss of a year. And the same thing with the Chargers. I mean, let's do or die for that coach. He might not even make it to week 12. So that's kind of what my thought is. I'd be really concerned if I was a Charger fan. Yeah, I'm going to go with the old head on this one. I'm surprisingly optimistic for all three of these teams considering the bumpy start that they've had. But if I had to choose a team that I'm the most concerned about, it's got to be the Chargers. You look at this team. They're 0-2. They have the brutal loss in the playoffs last year. And it seems like the morale on this team is just slowly decreasing. And like you said, Staley's job, it seems like his seat is heating up by the second. I think that this team's defense is playing absolutely terrible right now. We all know how special their offense is. But for the weapons that they have on offense and the studs that they have on the defensive side of the ball, it's unacceptable to lose in these games. I understand that they've lost these first two games by a combined total score of five points. But they got to figure this out and get back in the win column ASAP. Because once you get in that 0-2 hole and now into 0-3, you're really, you know... We interrupt this program to bring you an important Wayfair message. Wayfares got style tips for every home. So I think that the Chargers should be the most concerned right there. Let's hop over to the next question. This dolphins offense led by to us looking very dangerous right now. And he's currently the favorite to win the MVP. Oldhead, who do you think should be the favorite to win this award? So once again, 7-11 sports media, you know, it's like Dion with Colorado. I'll give him that one last week, but you know, that became lucky. I digress. You know, I think to be a favorite for the MVP. I mean, that guy is one fender bender, not even in the football field, away from being out for the year with his concussion problems. And I have a lot of respect for him, a lot of respect for the way he's battled back. I'm not buying the hype. I think Miami's got really cool uniforms and they're fun to watch because it's, you know, that whole Miami vibe. The coach seems like a pretty cool dude. I think Tyree kill, you know, he phases out. And I just feel like to eventually is going to get banged around. It's week two. My opinion, Mighty Mouse is like, I was never a major fan of McCaffrey in San Fran. But I mentioned it last week. I think that dude is actually the superhero Mighty Mouse. And I feel like he's going to continue to put up stats that we've just started coming to expect. But that cat's already got 250 yards rushing, you know, putting up some great, you know, receiving yards. Nothing, nothing huge. But I think he's a difference maker. I'd say McCaffrey, a burrow comes on strong just because he's kind of that name. Could put around for I think to my week five. He's, he's faded to black on that stuff. So now we're about him. And then you got this crazy cat out of the ramp. I can't, can't remember his name. It's just really weird. But he's like a rookie receiver. And yeah, I mean, it's, I don't even want to say what I hear that name. I'm just like, what? But yeah, no, I think that cat, I think he's had some like 25 receptions. And, you know, if he keeps that pace up, that dude, they might just move past, go and pop him in the hall of fame. So that's what I thought is I think Mighty Mouse followed by burrow. And my boy, Jerry Goff still could be a dark horse over to newcomer. You know, I'm going to agree that to us shouldn't be the favorite. It's, you know, it's impressive what Mike McDonald's and two have been able to create with this offense. But, you know, his, his injuries, his inconsistent play. It's, you know, it's not expected that this, at this level of play will be continued at this high level all season long. I think right now my homes is the favorite and should be the favorite. And, you know, based off of his level, I think week one was kind of just a quick week, but, you know, I've got to agree with the old head on this one. I think McCaffrey, you know, is a great underrated pick for MVP. You know, running back hasn't won MVP since Adrian Peterson in 2012. But if he can stay healthy all season, even if he's only putting out 100 yards a game and he does that all season, he's getting one or two touchdowns a game is going to put. He's going to put out in a crazy stat line. And if the 49ers have the best record in the NFL, it's, you know, it's impossible that Brock pretty is going to win MVP this year. It's just not possible. You know, he's going to be good, but he's not going to play at that level to an MVP. And if that's the case, the 49ers are able to keep up this dominant streak. I do think my pick for MVP would also be McCaffrey. Wow, you guys are really overlooking this pick, man. It's wild to take a running back here. But I'm going to go ahead and take the guy who's already won this award. Finally got some weapons this off season. His team's sitting pretty at 2-0 top of the AFC North. Give me Lamar Jackson. I love what this guy's been doing in the first two weeks. He's been absolutely balling out. This offense looks so much better than it has in the past few seasons. Lamar Jackson finally has the weapons that he needs to be the best passer and best runner. And I think with the addition of safe flowers and Odell Beckham Jr. this offense is going to reach new heights. They're going to, I think they're going to be one of the best teams in the AFC this year if not the number one seed. They went on the road at Cincinnati. Got a huge win to bolster themselves in terms of winning that division. I think that Lamar Jackson is coming for his second ever MVP awards. Don't sleep on LJ. Now let's look at the NBA. The Damian Lillard trade rumors are heating back up. And it seems like if he gets moved, it'll be to the Heat. If Miami can acquire Lillard newcomer, should they be the favorite to win the East? You know, I'll have to say this. If Damian Lillard does, you know, Damian Lillard did say if he's traded to a different team he's going to request trades. So the most likely scenario going this season is James going to be on the Heat. But it would be absolutely crazy to see Damian Jimmy bring up together. And, you know, for both of them, it could possibly be the best team. Either of them would ever have had throughout their entire careers. And if the Heat were able to keep Kayla Martin, you know, he's going to continue to improve the season. It'd be a great sidekick to Dame. I really do think the Heat would be very good. But, you know, the Celtics are still a very, very good team. And I think slightly the Celtics are going to edge out the Heat for the favorite to come out of the East, even if the Heat get Dame. But they're going to be a very, very good team. And, you know, it's going to be very, very competitive between the Celtics and the Heat. If that does happen, the Celtics and the Heat really are in a tier above the rest of the teams in the East. And I think it would be another seven game series. And it's going to be close, but we'll see what happens. Wow, that's a great, great take, man. I'm a huge Celtics guy, huge and concerned if this trade were to happen. Normally, if it was a couple, you know, big time premieres superstars, I'd be like, okay, it's going to be head case sent for all the teams going to go down the drain. I think this is crazy because you've got two stone cold killers, closers, Jimmy Butler and Damian Lillard that not only are they super talented playing different positions, but these cats. They know how to will their way to victory, like we see in all these other sports out there. You know, as much as I love the Celtics, I'd say both those cats are to my favorite players in the league. Putting them together, I agree with newbie that they for sure. They for sure can get things done. I think the bigger piece here, is there a small stroke who under Pat Riley has just become this orchestrator of personalities, especially big ones and he did it way back when with LeBron Wade. So I see him taking those two if they join forces and, you know, putting together these other cats, you know, assuming they keep them, etc. And I love Boston, but I think getting rid of smart, unless Tatum can bring that identity and really become a closer, they could literally become that team that like the Buffalo Bills, you know, way back when when they could never get across the finish line. I'm hoping that doesn't happen, but that that's there was a kryptonite and that's a concern and then the biggest question with all this is what happens with Kevin Hart. Because now you got a couple point guards, Kevin Hart drafted three style Lowry, you know, I swear those guys are, you know, but yeah, hopefully he stays on the team too. That's all. Thank you. Thank you for there. You know, when you watch the heat over the past few seasons, obviously they've made some great playoff runs where Jimmy Butler's been the main guy to get them to the promise land. And I think adding another score that can give you 30 points a game is going to make the heat unstoppable. I mean, they're definitely going to be one of the best teams in the league, undoubtedly. I'm not going to put them ahead of the Celtics or the Bucks. I think the Bucks are going to have a big bounce back season this year. Everybody's kind of on the edge with them. Oh, the honest trade rumors he said this past week that he wants to be at it. He wants to be in a place that's committed to winning. And some people took that the wrong way, but I think the Milwaukee is going to be a lot better this season. He's going to be a big ball today. One of the most underrated point guards in the league. Two ways can do it can do it on both sides of the ball. And then you look at Chris Middleton. I've given him a lot of criticism this past off season and leading up to now. I think he's going to have a better year this year coming off the injury. So I think the Bucks are a team that you can look at to be better than the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics. I've talked about them way too much. But I think the duo of Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown are going to be way better than we've seen in years past and they're actually going to close and finish this year in the playoffs. So I'm looking at the Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Celtics to be slightly ahead of the Miami Heat. But newcomer, I agree with you. I think they're all going to be on a tier above everybody else in the East. Let's head to our final sports question here. Obviously, it's never too early to give NBA finals predictions. Old head, give us your NBA finals match up and who you think wins it all. I mean, in a run away, which just pains me to say this, I think our boy, the boys in Denver, I think might have themselves the most unassuming, unexpected, dominant force in the NBA for, I mean, I knew nothing about Joe Kitch at all per se until last year. And so no one in the West is going to sniff them. Like they're going to be able to manhandle that entire division and then come in to the. And that's going to be once again a toss up as to whether or not a potato and brown can step up against the heat. If they assume they would get what's his name, Lillard. If they don't, that would be Boston Denver. If they do, then it would be, you know, a toss up there, no walkie, scratch them off your list, they're done for good that I don't, I don't even want to get into what I think about that dude there that everyone loves so much the man MVP got. I think 100% and it just hands down. They're probably going to repeat. I hate saying it, but I just got to be a realist. They're, they've tasted it now. Another knocking down again. You know, I'm going to disagree with that one. Out of the West, I think it's, I have a pick that not a lot of people would expect. I think the Warriors are going to return to the finals this year. You know, the Warriors really this off season. Their goal was to kind of recapture the magic of that team of the championship team. And I think, you know, with Chris Paul being on his team, listen, people didn't expect people didn't expect Chris Paul to revamp his career when he went to the Oklahoma State. When Chris Paul went to the Oklahoma City Thunder, people expected him to lay down and basically die. But instead he led that team to the playoffs. He almost won a playoff series. Chris Paul is going to be a great player this season. And I think a lot of the problems with this Warriors team was one clay Thompson being put in crucial situations and not being able to execute because of his time off because of his injuries. Clay really, really, really has taken a step down. I think Clay this season with the addition of Chris Paul is going to be able to, you know, the Warriors are going to be able to take the stress off of clay. And Jordan Poole, you know, he's a great player, but he wasn't fitting their system. And this season, I think Curry's coming for MVP. Curry is my pick for MVP going into the season. He has a lot to prove this season. And, you know, listen, if Curry can continue this dominance into the next few years, he's going to continue and continue to get higher and higher in these rankings all time. I think it's the Celtics, you know, as I explained before, it's going to be close. I have the heat and the Celtics battling it out. I have the Celtics in seven. And I think it's going to be, it's going to be a great finals. It's going to be a great game rematch. And I have the Celtics taking it this time in five. Yeah, I don't know if I agree with a 36 year old MVP or the Warriors out of the West. I think it's good. We all have different teams here, but I'm going to take the Los Angeles Clippers. I'm super excited about them this year. I know I'm drinking the Kool-Aid again. Like, it seems like I do every offseason with this team. They're always so plagued with injuries. You never know what you can expect from Kawhi and Paul George in terms of load management and being healthy towards playoff time. But I think when you look at this team, the resilience that they showed with their surrounding cast just with Russell Westbrook, I mean, this team would have run away with the Phoenix series in the first round. And I truly believe they are one of the best teams in the Western Conference last season. Before these guys got injured, I'm excited to see what they can do fully healthy with all these off seasons off. Taran Liu has been talking a lot this offseason about what they're going to do with both of these guys healthy. I'm taking the Clippers to come out of the West. And then in the Eastern Conference, I'm going to take the Milwaukee Bucks versus the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals here. And I'm going to take the Celtics to get back to the finals against the Clippers where I believe that the Celtics will win their first title, Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown. But I think that overall this series will be fireworks in the finals here, boys. But let's go to our final question. That's the pop culture question. I'm going to be blending it in with sports here. So newcomer, if you could take two NFL players right now to help you fight in a zombie apocalypse. Who are you taking? I'm taking. I'm taking Aaron Rodgers. I think. You know, I think he really, he's really trapped right now, you know, with all his darkness retreats, all his kind of journeys. He's talking about dolphin music. All these areas are really taking him to a different plane. And I think he would kind of understand what is going on a little bit better than everybody else. And for number two, I'm going to go with Tyree kill, you know, just just so I could see that smiling face, you know, that that smile, you know, being out there, no other humans, you want to see some happiness, you want to see a smile. That that beaming white smile from Tyree kill man, you can't have anything else like it. And I love, you know, I would love to see that and be, you know, be out he's, you know, he would also be able to think about it. You can be able to outrun almost all the zombies with his speed. He was a track star. He could have been an Olympic athlete. And, you know, those two, you have Tyree, Aaron Rodgers kind of, you know, two, they're pretty different people, but combined, I think the three of us, the trio, maybe, you know, we could probably try to survive for a couple months, maybe a couple of years. So, you know, yeah, I'm going with Tyree and I'm going with my, my name era. Wow. I don't know if some pop some of your brownies are newcomer. That's some wild stuff right there, man. You, his big smile is going to fight off the zombies. I love it though. Love it. I'm smiling on the inside, not like Tyree. So here's the thing. If I'm trying to fight these cats, I'm bringing in a cowboy, not a Dallas. Well, I actually know an old cowboy, but I'm bringing in a homeboy from up in Buffalo, the quarterback. Big tall cat, Josh Allen, and that guy is going to have himself, you know, some footballs in his holster, you know, four or five footballs. And those zombie heads, you know, they, they're not, they're zombies, so like they implode. So, that dude, when you're trying to fight your way out, you got to be zinging and zanging, and he can be taking off heads in one hand, throwing some rifle shots at the footballs, and he's just a big dude. Secondly, when I'm yapping, yapping away at the zombies to try to get their attention, I'm going to have Randy Gregory, who seems to survive everything. There's whole career getting under brassica, getting through the Cowboys, going through so much stuff, and always coming back again and again and again. And then the cat hits a $70 million bag, so 100%, he's fast, he's tough, I'm doubling with what's his name in Buffalo, Allen, and Gregory. And, you know, I'm just kind of rolling behind him, cleaning up the mess. Yeah, I hate to say you guys aren't going to be alive for more than a week. I mean, it's a very obvious answer here. First guy I'm taking is Aaron Donald. I mean, we've all seen the training videos of guys with literal knives trying to stab him and him blocking him off. I mean, he's just, he can get past three offensive linemen. Yeah, I think he can go crazy on some zombies. And then the other guy I'm taking is Miles Garrett. We've all seen what he can do with stuff in his hands in terms of hitting people with helmets. So I think you could do some damage made with like a bat in his hand or maybe some other big projectiles in his hand. So I'm going to Aaron Donald and Miles Garrett. Yeah, you guys aren't surviving very long, but that's going to wrap it up for this week segment of old head versus newcomer. Thank you guys so much for joining me again. Our next segment is brought to you by tackleobesity.com. The mission of tackle obesity is to use football to improve people's overall health. Check out tackleobesity.com for more information. Now for the segment that we introduced for the first time last week over reaction or truth. We had a lot of very interesting games this past weekend, so let's hop right into this. The first one on the board are the Ravens the team to beat in the AFC. I'm honestly really torn with this one, but I'm going to say that's an over reaction, but it's darn close to being the truth. This offense looks almost unstoppable and Lamar Jackson is playing at an MVP level. The ball placement and accuracy Lamar has been playing with all season is insane. Through two weeks he has the second best completion percentage in the NFL and it's almost at 75%. I've ranted for the past few seasons how I always felt that Lamar Jackson needed weapons to show off his true potential and I'm happy to say I was right. First of all Zay Flowers the receiver they drafted in the first round out of Boston College is a bonafide stud. All you got to do is get this guy the ball in open space and he's going to make people miss. Lamar and this offense have been surgical and they're sitting pretty at the top of the AFC North. They had a huge road win over the Bengals this past weekend that gives them a commanding lead in the division. As of right now I do believe that this is their division to lose. The only reason I'm hesitant to say this team is the best in the AFC is because of a dude named Patrick Mahomes. I know people are counting out with his crummy receiving core but now that Kelsey was back they picked up a huge win over the Jaguars so I can't sit here and say that the Ravens are ready to topple them. But the Ravens have a very easy first half of their schedule so I wouldn't be surprised to see this team at the top of the AFC for the next few weeks. Now their second half of their schedule is when things get pretty interesting and that's when we'll find out how legit Lamar Jackson this team are. But until then the Ravens are not the team to beat in the AFC. The next one on the board somewhat of a controversial one. The Bears will move on from Justin Fields at the end of the season. I really do believe that this is the truth. The Bears offense and entire organization just looks like a dumpster fire right now. The Bears now sit at 0-2 and this offense has been abysmal and I do believe that Justin Fields should take most of the blame on this. His touchdown to interception ratio is 2-3 and he currently has the second worst QBR in the league. Not to mention when you see him playing out there, he's slow to get through his reads and he's struggling to get the ball out on time. He's playing very run first and this offense is significantly struggling because of it. Now it's only been two weeks into the season and I don't want to overreact. But I thought Justin Fields this offseason would take a major leap especially after the Bears committed to getting him a number one wide receiver and DJ Moore. I'm still waiting for him to make that jump and I'm not completely blaming everything on him. And this offensive line is absolutely terrible. Not to mention offensive coordinator in play call or Adam Getzi is also doing a terrible job. The reason I believe the Bears are heading in the direction to get rid of him is because of the abundant draft capital they have in this year's draft. This offseason they traded down from the number one overall pick with the Panthers, acquiring the Panthers 2024 first round draft pick. Now the Panthers currently sit at 0-2, combined with the Bears early struggles. It's looking like this team might have two top five picks. Not to mention the crazy good talent in this year's draft class. I think it'll be really interesting to see what the Bears do with Justin Fields moving forward and if this team can start to pick up wins and some consistency on offense. But for right now I do think the Bears will move on from Justin Fields at the end of the season. The next one here, the Chargers will miss the playoffs and Brandon Staley will be fired. I'm going to call this one an overreaction. The Chargers have struggled starting 0-2 and Brandon Staley's seat is heating up very fast. But I don't think that they'll miss the playoffs this year. They've played two tough opponents and their losses have only come by five points combined. So I would say that part of the question is an overreaction. But in terms of Brandon Staley being fired, if this team can get on a roll and make the playoffs, I still don't believe his job is safe. At the end of the day, the Chargers have the opportunity to fire Staley this off season and get Sean Payton. They didn't do that and it's looking like it's going to bite them in the butt. If the Chargers don't make the AFC Championship or win the whole thing, I don't think Brandon Staley's going to be with this team next season. So on that question, I'm going to go overreaction and truth. The next one on here, the Los Angeles Rams will make the playoffs. I think this is another truth here. Now I know they just lost this past weekend to the 49ers. But without Cooper Cup, this offense looked darn good. Puka Nakua and Tutu Atwell are stepping up in massive ways and I love the way that Sean McVey is scheming this offense for Matthew Stafford. Not to mention this defense is performing a lot better than most thought it would. I'm excited to watch this team on prime time against the Bengals on Monday night football. Not to mention how wide open the NFC is right now. And they battled the Niners tough and were in a position to tie this game late in the fourth quarter before a pick six happened. I think if the Rams can get Cooper Cup back around week five or six, I believe that this offense will absolutely take off and you can guarantee that this team will be in the wildcard. The Los Angeles Rams will make the playoffs. That's the truth. The final one on the board here, the Titans can win the AFC South. I'm also going truth on this one. At the beginning of the season on one of my first shows, I quickly came out and said how underrated I thought the Tennessee Titans were. They significantly upgraded this offense. Ryan Tanhill and Derek Henry were both finally healthy. They added DeAndre Hopkins. They added Peter Skoronski on the offensive line in the draft. And we all know how consistently good this defense is every single season. Not to mention the addition of Aziz Al Shire and Sean Murphy Bunting. With their big win over the Chargers this weekend, people should definitely be considering them to win the AFC South. And this team should be 2-0 right now. They lost week one to New Orleans 16-15 where Ryan Tanhill threw three interceptions. But he looked a lot more polished in week two. And I'm excited to see how this team keeps getting better in the future. The style of football that Mike Rebel coaches and the way this Titans team plays, they absolutely can win this division. Themselves and Jacksonville both sit at 1-1 and similar to the race between the Chargers and Chiefs. The Titans and Jacksonville will play in week 18 in a game that I believe will decide who wins this division. And lucky for Tennessee, they will be at home. So do not count out the Titans to win the AFC South. I believe that that's the truth. >> For our first call in of the day, we have Josh from Minnesota. What's going on, Josh? >> Not much. How you doing? >> Doing good, man. Appreciate you calling in. Hit me with your question. >> Yeah, I've got a couple questions kind of over the first few weeks and takeaways from it. So obviously last year, the Eagles separated themselves in the NFC. A lot of people saw Eagles and 49ers coming into the season. But it seems like the start of the season, a lot of people see the Niners pulling ahead. So I know the Cowboys have looked good. But obviously Trayvon Diggs will be without him. So I was just wanting to know your thoughts on if you had to pick at this point, would you take the Niners or the field like a combination of either Cowboys or Eagles or someone else to go to Super Bowl? >> I don't like to make big overreactions after the first two or three weeks of the season. But right now, the 49ers, I'm taking them over every single team in the NFC and maybe even the entire NFL. You look at what this team has done through the first two weeks. Obviously, they played on Thursday night football. But you look at what they've been able to do with their offensive production, Brock Purdy. People were wondering how he would respond and perform after the elbow injury in the NFC Championship. He's looking like an absolutely elite quarterback and he's clicking into this offense great. I think Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, Ayuk, Kittle, all these weapons that they have just blend together so perfectly. And everybody knows the talent they have on the defensive side of the ball. Obviously, Nick Bosa just got his bag. Fred Warner is looking like a defensive player of the year candidate. This entire defense is just looking elite. So right now through the first two weeks, if I had to choose a team, it'd be the San Francisco 49ers. Yeah, I mean, that's kind of what I was thinking as well. I feel like the narrative coming into the season is everyone is waiting for Brock Purdy to get like figured out or something like that. And it seems like week in, week out, he keeps, you know, proving that narrative wrong. And the addition of McCaffrey just looks better week by week. So, I mean, I'd have to agree with that. It's like Cowboys Eagles, good teams, but I feel like Niners are kind of separating themselves right now. And especially with their division and schedule not having to face each other twice a year like other to that home field advantage could be the difference. So, yeah, I agree with you there. And then last thing I got, I mean, huge Vikings fan 0 and 2 coming into this week. It's obviously desperation game. It feels like whoever falls to 0 and 3 is going to have a long road ahead. I mean, we have the NFC North, but which could help us a little bit, but just kind of want to know your thoughts on this game in particular for the Vikings. Chances because as a fan, I'm really torn. Don't know how much to expect from us. Yeah, I think for the Minnesota Vikings right now, they come into a very interesting game like you mentioned with the Chargers, both 0 and 2 teams hunting for their first win. Obviously, if you lose this game and you go into an 0 and 3 hole, you're looking at yourself in the mirror and saying, we really don't have much hope and it's hard to pull yourself out of it. Both of these teams are going to be playing with a lot of desperation. And I believe that both of these teams have very explosive offenses. Kurt Cousins, I've always felt has received way too much hate for being a good quarterback, being a borderline top 10 quarterback. And with the weapons that the Vikings have invested in making Hawkins in the highest paid tight end in NFL history, the eventual bag that Justin Jefferson's about to get the first round pick they spent in this year's draft on Jordan Addison. They've gone all in to make this receiving core one of the best in the league. So right now, the defense needs to pick it up. Their defense has been obviously the weak point of this team and it's killing them. It's absolutely killing them. And I think if the Vikings can get more production on defense, they had one of the worst defense in the league last year and Kurt Cousins in this offense were still able to win 13 games. I think if we can see an increased level of production on the defensive side of the ball, I do think that the Vikings can start to pick up some wins here. As you mentioned, and obviously they're in the NFC North, that division hasn't panned out yet. I know the Lions got that big week one win against the Chiefs, but they didn't have a great bounce back game against the Seattle Seahawks. And then the Packers and everybody's super excited about the Jordan love debut. They obviously had that loss in week two. So this division really hasn't panned out yet. So I think if Minnesota does lose this game, I still believe that they're going to be more of a long shot to win the division, but I don't think that they're totally out of it. And the NFC as a conference in terms of them making the wild card is very weak. We could still see them sneak in at either 10 and seven or nine and eight as a potential wild card. So don't give up on your Vikings yet. This offense is special and it's really been what's been pushing this team past the limits and picking up those big wins the last few seasons. So I do think that the Vikings can still get back to the playoffs and I fully believe in them, Josh. Hey, well, I appreciate you hopping on the show. Great questions and we'll catch you later, bro. For our next calling of the day, we have Reese from Los Angeles. Reese, what's going on, big dog? What up, Cooper? How are we doing? Doing good, man. Doing good. Hit me with your question, bro. All right. So my fantasy team has just tanked this past week with the loss of, like, Saquan and Chub. And I had Jamal Williams who was supposed to start. He's gone and. Well, what do we think? And, like, we're making some trades because I got Calvin Ridley and Pukka Nakua. And so do you think I should value Pukka Nakua as the wide receiver too? Or should I look for a trade in order to get some running backs back? Man, that's some brutal running back luck with some of those injuries that you had. Hopefully your last place punishment isn't too bad, but for right now, with your team, you said you had, who is your running back? Myles Sanders and who? Myles Sanders and Damian Pierce. So for right now, I think Myles Sanders and Damian Pierce can do until Saquan comes back. He's going to be out only three weeks. So I think if you can have Saquan as your running back one and Myles Sanders as your running back to come week four or five, I think that's salvageable. With your wide receiver core, you have a pretty good wide receiver room. I like Calvin Ridley a lot. I would definitely keep him. In terms of Pukka Nakua, you have him as a big wild card on your team. I think right now, I would sell him high. I know that Cooper cups on the IR right now. He's going to come back in the next two to three weeks. He's had the lingering hamstring injury, but with how good Pukka has been playing and the desperation that your team needs right now to pick up wins, I would try and package Pukka Nakua. And maybe somebody on your bench like a Jamal Williams or one of your quarterbacks. I would look for a trade with Pukka right now. I think that fits your team the best. But if you can survive with Calvin Ridley, Saquan Barkley, Myles Sanders and Jalen Waddell, that's a good core for. And then you said you had Joe Burrow also. That's a good core five right there. I would definitely try and trade Pukka though and bulk that flex position because if you can do that, I definitely don't think you're going to be last place and maybe you can sneak into the place. All right. And then I got one more for you. What do we think? And do I do I stick with the Kirk Cousins train until Burrow shows himself or do I give Burrow a chance? Yeah, Joe Burrow hasn't looked great so far this season and this entire offense really hasn't looked great. He re injured his calf in that Ravens game last week. So that definitely makes things interesting. Obviously, they play the Rams on Monday night football. And this offensive line hasn't looked great. So Aaron Donald might might wreak some havoc. I would definitely stick with Kirk Cousins this week. They play the Chargers. Terrible defense. They've given up the second most points per game. Kirk Cousins, he's had a big year so far. He just had a four touchdown game, 300 yard passing game, lit it up in fantasy. I would definitely keep him as your QB won. Maybe even use Joe Burrow as some trade bait like I mentioned with Puka. Yeah, I definitely keep Kirk right now. He's been killing it and there's no, there's no reason to insert Burrow back into your lineup. Maybe wait till later in the season. If he can get healthier and as this offense starts to become more cohesive and more explosive, but definitely right now stick with Kirk Cousins Reese. All right, Race. Thank you so much for joining us, man. For our next call in, we have Jeff from Costa Mesa. What's going on, Jeff? What's going on, Kaden? How's it going? Doing good, man. Appreciate you calling in? So, you know, I noticed on one of your last shows, you were talking about how you had the Bengals and the Niners and the Super Bojos wanted to know after the 0 and 2 start. You still believe in this Bengals team? Absolutely, Jeff. I do believe in the Bengals still. I'm not a fan of overreacting after the first two weeks of the season, let alone with a team that's been proven. It's been proven to make deep post-season runs. I think when you have a top two quarterback, like Joe Burrow, that also can comfort you a lot. I know that he recently re-aggravated his calf injury, so that raises a lot of questions. It's hard for players to get healthier as the season progresses. But you look at the weapons that he has, Jamar Chase, T Higgins, Joe Mixin. He still has the big three there, and on the defensive side of the ball, they did lose Jesse Bates this off season. But I think this defensive line in front seven will be able to carry this defense. They still got Trey Hendrickson. They still have DJ Reader, BJ Hill, and then obviously they still have Logan Wilson, Chidobia Wuzier. So I think this defense still has some key pieces to get them back where they need to be and get back in the winning column. Obviously, an 0 and 2 start is very concerning. They did play two tough divisional games, where in week one, the offense looked abysmal on the road at Cleveland. Couldn't get anything going. Joe Burrow didn't even have 100 passing yards. They didn't even score one touchdown. And then week two against Baltimore. Baltimore went in there on the road and did some damage to Cincinnati. This offense still didn't look like what we've seen it in prior seasons, but I'm still looking at the Cincinnati Bengals and saying they're one of the best teams in the AFC still. I'm not going to panic. I think Baltimore is one of the best teams in the AFC and Cleveland, another tough divisional game. So I think when you look at the Bengals, they had two rough games. They're known for slow starts. Their schedule gets a little easier as the season progresses. If they can pick some things up over the next few weeks, and Joe Burrow gets a little healthier, I'm still not panicking on the Bengals. So Jeff, you can count the Bengals to get back to the playoffs and do some damage there. See what you're saying. I just, the lack of speed on that Bengals offense and the struggles that this O line has faced. I think as they get deeper towards the end of the season, and injuries start to become more of an issue and stamina becomes more of an issue when they face these like top offense or defensive lines. Excuse me, like, you know, teams like maybe like, I don't know if they play the Cowboys, the Chargers, like any of these teams in the playoffs or end of the season. I think it's going to be a real struggle to get that pass game going and with only one running back who can really have a game in Joe Nixon. I don't think that there's much of a change up for this offense to be able to bring in. They're kind of one sided. And I think that they could make the playoffs, but I think that that's about their ceiling. I don't think there's much more than that. I see what you're saying here. When you look at the Bengals over the last two seasons, in terms of offensive weapons, they haven't lost any big weapons. And you're talking about the speed. And I know that the Bengals significantly rely on contested catches and Joe Burrell putting the ball in perfect spots for two great receivers and T Higgins and Jamar Chase. But when you look at this team, they've always had a bad offensive line. They had one of the worst offensive lines in football. They went to the Super Bowl. Now, obviously, they matched up against Aaron Donald, who they'll see on Monday night and he tore through that offensive line. They didn't have a great offensive line last year, and they still made it to the AFC Championship. If they didn't have that late hit late in the game, they could be back in the Super Bowl last year. So when you look at the Cincinnati Bengals, they still have the key pieces on offense. It's about getting Joe Burrell healthy and getting his connection with Jamar Chase and T Higgins back. It seems like every single season, he knows what type of timing he needs to have with this offensive line and how quickly he needs to get the ball out. I'm not panicking on the weapons that they have. They have one of the best receiving cores in football. They added Orlando Brown from the Chiefs. I still think this offensive line can get better. It's gotten better as the season progressed last year. So I think we're going to see the same this year. I'm not panicking at all on this team. The dolphins starting Q and O to look amazing MVP front runner. Do you have any concerns there? Do you think the dolphins are for real? They know this is Super Bowl caliber team. Yeah, I definitely think that the dolphins are a Super caliber team Super Bowl caliber team. Excuse me. When you look at what Mike McDaniel has done to turn around to his career and what he's done with getting the most out of Tyree Kill and Jalen Waddle, his offensive scheme is so brilliant between the play action to getting to a running start in motion and turning him up field to getting Jalen Waddle and to a perfectly crossing each other over the middle with layers. It seems like defenses have such a tough time guarding these guys and to a being the freak accuracy that he has. He can get them the ball in space and these guys can work and you have a speedy back in our team most in the back field. This offensive line is looking stout. It seems like the defensive side of the ball is where we're going to need to see if this team is legit and this team and this team's defense has been showing up. Xavier Howard has been locking down teams number one. They still have Bradley Chubb, Christian Wilkins. We know the damage that he can do. Jalen Phillips is having a good season. So when you look at the balance that this team has between its explosive offense and its stout defense, I absolutely think that the dolphins are Super Bowl contenders. Right now I don't necessarily agree for Toa to be the MVP front runner. I'm still looking at guys like Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, when Josh Allen starts to pick up wins. I'm looking at those guys over him as of right now. But if Toa and this offense can stay consistent with the freakishly nut, insanely numbers they've been putting upward over the past two weeks to is absolutely an MVP candidate and should be the front runner. Yeah. And in my opinion, the offense looks great. I think to relax the arm strength to get the ball downfield consistently. And I think that when they play a team that has a strong front four, not a front seven strong front four and can play deep and play back on these speedy receivers. It's going to change up a lot because this run game isn't elite. They have they had a good running get attack, but this run game is not elite by any means and a good front four can completely shut it down, I believe. And if that that run game shut down, it takes a lot of that speed away from Tyree kill and Jalen wattle when they're able to play so far back, you know, in the Chargers game. JC Jackson looked abysmal, absolutely terrible. The worst cornerback I've seen play football and that was shown with Tyree kills 200 plus yard day. So I don't know if they're going to be playing cornerbacks like that all year. And, you know, if they play the charges again, maybe JC Jackson recovers a little bit more from his injury. I just don't believe that there's play making ability from to on this side of the ball, which could get counter active, you know, obviously with the speed, but I think if this run game gets shut down, the dolphins get shut down, despite how much speed and talent they have on both sides. I'll disagree with you on that one as well. I think it's safe to say the Patriots have a pretty good front four and front seven and just an all around great defense. I think they have one of the top five to top three defense. And what you saw Mike McDaniel's do on that Sunday night game, instead of having your consistent run through the middle, we should be worried about what they're doing in terms of getting it through the middle where he most or it was doing a great job of getting it was a bouncing runs outside Mike McDaniel was constantly scheming outside runs for most or so I don't think necessarily they're worried about run trying to be the most physical team and beating you up front. We saw the huge run that most are ripped against the Patriots defense that sprang in for the huge touchdown that really pulled them away. And then in terms of good front four, the Chargers don't have the best front four, but they have one of the best edge rushers in football in Joey Bosa. So we didn't see much production in terms of what he did to this offensive line and getting after to us. So I don't know, I think it'll be fun to see what happens when they face great, great defenses and great offenses. I think they should have lost to the Patriots if the Patriots offense was more consistent and didn't turn the ball over. But when you match them up against elite teams offensively and defensively, it'll be fun to see what they can do. But I absolutely think that the Miami Dolphins can contend for a Super Bowl. They're offensive defense and coaching all around. They're a very well built team. Are you worried on the Chargers team at all, putting up the most points in the first two weeks of a season, but also allowing the most points for the first two weeks of the season? Yeah, right now they, they're definitely very lopsided in terms of where this team gets its production. Justin Herbert, I gave him a little bit of criticism earlier on the show. In that Titans loss, I would have liked to see that Chargers offense finish the game out in the fourth quarter, score touch down there. I believe they got the ball the way down to the red zone, had to kick a field goal. First drive in overtime, three and out. I know that Justin Herbert has heard all of the critics this offseason after the loss for the Jaguars, but he's going to have to bail out this bad defense. He's going to have to bail out this bad defense if they want to win games. I understand they put up 34 points against the Dolphins, but he's going to have to bail out that defense. I understand they put up 24 points against the Titans. He's going to have to bail out that defense time in and time again, especially when they play electric offenses. Like the Dolphins having a lead offense, but the Titans don't really have that grade of an offense. They have a stout defense, but they're going to, they're going to go up against Dallas, Kansas City twice, New England, Buffalo. They still have their work cut out for them, but they still have some easier games in their future. So I do think that this defense will get better in the future, but right now I'm looking at the Chargers to get a big win against the Vikings, a team that has a bad defense. That's going to be a shootout. And then I want to see them pick up a win against Las Vegas, have themselves at two and two with some momentum at home against Dallas. And then we'll see what they can do between that rough stretch with Dallas and Kansas City. So I'm not counting out the Chargers yet. I believe that Justin Herbert is a top five quarter back in the league. I believe he's better than two, 110%. And I'm excited to see what he can do to prove his haters wrong and get this Chargers offense back in the loot. But man, Brandon Staley, he makes me upset that he's still the coach of that team, Jeff. All right, Jeff, well, I really appreciate you calling in, man. That was a great talk. No more sneaking around and hooking up my horns to my neighbor's spigot in the middle of night and his dog won't bite me anymore. And you can do it too. Listen it is easier than ever. KCAA is now screaming online. It's streaming. What? It's streaming you dummy. Now, I don't know much about streaming but they're doing it apparently at KCAARadio.com.
