(upbeat music) - Welcome one and all to umami manga. I'm Petter and this is James. - Hello. - And today we're talking about volume five of a bride's story. The wedding feast for Lila and Laley begins in this volume but they barely get to participate in it. The wedding did conclude smoothly with only a few little hiccups along the way and ultimately the twins become part of Sarman and Prasami's family and Smith and Ali continue their journey toward Ankara. Then we follow along through a regular day in Amir's life and we also got to see the grandma prove herself as the queen of the mountain. And finally we were given a little story about an injured hawk that sadly doesn't make it in the end. So that is volume five in a nutshell. - I think what makes this volume interesting was all the, well, the deep dive into the cultural aspects particularly the wedding and how different it is from the reader's mindset or the typical reader's mindset, you know, whether it be a typical Japanese wedding or a typical Western wedding. Very different from how they do things in this part of the world. So that was really interesting to see. And even Morisensei at the end was saying how, oh, I've never been to any of these weddings. I never even tried the doughnuts. - Yeah, exactly. - Just I just read about them. - Yeah. And like that's fair because I mean, not only does this story portray a different time. So like in some ways it's impossible to experience it, like I guess. But even the things that probably remain the same and the culture is probably hard to visit. Like I guess this part of the world you don't just go to on a whim, I guess. - Yeah, that's fair. - And you definitely don't go to weddings if you're not like invited to them probably, you know? (laughing) - Well, I mean, there were strangers who were just like, you know, who's wedding is this? - Yeah. - I'm just passing by.
