Coffee & Geography

Coffee & Geography S01E21 Chantal Mayo-Holloway & Akhera Williams (UK)

Kit talks to Akhera Williams & Chantal Mayo-Holloway over some light beverages, chatting about amplifying marginalised voices in the classroom, futsal, unemployed squirrels, amongst other things!

Akhera is a student geographer, community organiser, poet, and artist from South London. She studies BA Geography at King's College London and is the co-founder of the youth-led educational campaign ReRoot.Ed as well as the oral histories project the VoicesProject. Akhera has an interest in ending structural inequalities, both socially and environmentally.

Chantal has for over 20 years been a geography geek, committed to improving the lives and life chances of the students she teaches by helping them see the world through geography goggles, lives by the mantra “practising what we preach”. Chantal sees geography everywhere, embedded in everything around us (whether that is hiking in the Himalayas, or cycling to school or sat in a classroom).
