What do you get when you mix an abundance of financial knowledge with a zesty enthusiasm to change our industry for the better? A young female entrepreneur passionate about helping us all to protect our livelihoods, on a mission to shake up the insurance and protection industry alongside her mentor mum and change lives. 26-year-old financial services expert, Isabella Streames from Great Oakley Northants, is not your archetypal besuited number-cruncher but a young mixture of drive and passion, confidence with sprinkles of shyness all rolled into one. She has grown up around her mum (Joanna Streames, previously also on the show) in the industry so it’s second nature and it’s become a joint mission together to change the way things are with different appeals to different demographics. Isabella is passionate about speaking to young girls to spark interest to join our industry and reaching a younger audience to hammer home the importance of protecting yourself when you are young. Her mum tragically lost her own mother at the age of 19 and was nominated as guardian to her 12 year-old sister. Isabella knows the stories of how the girls struggled financially because there wasn’t enough provision in place, the Will was a mess and the various legal firms involved took a large cut of their inheritance leaving them penniless.
This episode is particularly special to me because Isabella and her mother Joanna, have been clients of mine and were an absolute joy to work with which in turn resulted in us becoming industry friends. I love them as a double trouble duo, mother and daughter.
It makes me think about the special moments my mum and I share too. I love them as individuals even more so. Isabella is young, ambitious, and talented. Most importantly ... she's brave! She is stepping outside her comfort zone massively to be here on the show because she wants to represent young women and empower them to be brave! I am so proud of her and I am delighted you get to share this delicious episode with me.
