On this episode of your 15min. break, Chris J R and Koi talk about the drive home from work and how necessary it is !

And we are back with your 15 minute break. I am the host man I'm any friend your host and creator Chris Boone here my co-host JR my guy how we living what am I not much man? And we are talking about that drive home and how much it helps. I guess because of the fact that Let's just keep it real during COVID and during lockdown time everybody worked from home and shit was peachy You didn't have to drive anywhere. I mean you could probably drink on the job, but nobody would notice but now Because you don't work from home. Let me ask you this JR and you know, I don't know for me It's therapeutic, but I also want to know for other people like do you enjoy the drive home? Sometimes okay Sometimes I do sometimes I don't okay I feel like if there's heavy heavy traffic. I don't enjoy it traffic is modern. I do enjoy it go go. I listen to podcasts Okay Audio books, I'm not gonna lie to you when COVID hit and I we dropped the podcast I had a choke hold that shit Was like I was running numbers. I'm not gonna lie to you and like I was running number was without even doing promotion or marked and I know it you know, subsequently everybody went back outside. I did the merch to subsidize everything, but go ahead with that so like Wait, so so like basically so you were like you had more. Oh, no. Oh, we were on lockdown Bro, you would think people were listening like if they're in their cars and stuff Well, well, I think people were at home and they needed somewhere to get away get away and so they were listening and then when Me and coy when everything opened up me and coy was just doing the merch runs And we was you know popping up everywhere handing out merch and it got even more the buzz But it jumped started everything now because you know Everybody's back on the roads and everybody's listening when they're sitting in traffic and everybody's like, you know, it's crazy. It's sound coy We missed an episode on a Monday and we came and we dropped one on Tuesday even though the five years and everybody was like Hey, like You got us in the streets feeling like a crack it like, you know, you never really understand how many people listen to this until They start team part of the young hundred percent hundred percent like people say like you're the norm Like you're the norm in my day. Yeah, and is that is that true? I guess in I guess asking you for retrospect Like is that true now that you are on the road to and from work? Is that yeah? Yeah, it takes me about in hours Like a little over an hour and 20 minutes to get to and from work. Uh-huh. So Like half of that time. I'm actually on a on a on a train. Okay, okay, and then the other half of my car. Okay, so You know, I have my routine. I have my headphones I already have like the night before what I'm gonna listen to. Oh, man. I'd like queue up my YouTube videos. Really? Yeah You have to But yeah, like you have your routine and think about that a lot of times like especially I enjoy the actually enjoy the commute to work than I do from work Because like I don't know what it is about in the morning Like it's just a little more a little bit more peaceful. Mm-hmm Then you know, you just had a hectic day and I you're in the car headed home to Does it help stimulate your mind in the morning to before you get to work? You know, some people just drive to work and they're still tired. Yep Yeah, yeah, no cuz I have I have my coffee and I had that super strong. So I'm good like so Got all my songs. Yeah That's crazy. I didn't know it was like that and then I guess and to the point of it like now driving home from work to now I Guess now that people aren't working from home and I'm asking you is it When you're off a work is that the decompression to before you get home because you gotta remember you got you got a family at home You got a kid that is Eager to see you when you get home. Yeah, so like does that cuz you know, I tell people like It's not the people don't understand it's the drive home helps you Decongress from the bullshit at work and if you don't go to the gym or you don't have an outlet before you go home to I Guess quote-unquote see your yeah, he's not trying to imply that it's no I know what you're saying. Yeah, I feel like for me. It's a little bit more hectic to The ride home from okay, okay, okay because I just had a shitty day, right? Yeah, so I'm trying to get home To where you know, I can get out away from this dressful day and away from that stressful place got you your real life Yeah, so I'm actually driving faster to get home than I am when I go to work. Yeah, yeah So that's why I say my like my morning commute is more peaceful for me Yeah, I'm not I'm taking my time to get there. I leave where I leave early enough to where I don't have to rush to get to work Yeah, that's that's my thing I'd like to leave early enough to I like to get to work at least 20 minutes early Okay, cuz I don't like to stress about getting in the building so like so yeah, like And then after work on the opposite I'm trying to get home as fast as I can away from that traffic and so on like For me like the just the ride home is more stressful because I'm trying to like take side streets I'm trying to whatever I can To avoid all this stuff. Yeah, let me let me ask you this do people And I'm pretty sure you know people with long commutes and whatnot and people that do the commute What do you like in in your opinion? What is the best decompression I like to help you decompress from a stressful day's work from a stressful day's work? Yeah For me, it's audiobooks and podcasts, okay, okay, um Like I could listen to music, but sometimes you find a song that's gonna take you to that stressful place She's like trying to do the opposite That song is like fuck this job Guys But yeah, like for me as audiobooks podcasts for me audiobooks take me take me away Like it makes me helps me use my imagination Okay, you know what that is very good to know. Yeah, that is very good. No, I didn't I didn't realize it Oh boy, let me fly in this car Take it up to a magic. No, I actually have a question for you Take you away for a la la la Okay, so how does the you mentioned the decompression mode 30 minutes to an hour? How does that differ from when you're working at home because there is no you just lock out and you're just right at right at You know, I mean, that's true same at the mornings. I worked from home for maybe about a year It was it was a little different who when you clock out, you know, you just it's just a button Mute no change of clothes. No change of clothes. No, just you know, you're done and then you're at the kitchen You're done you're at the fridge like 30 seconds later. So what now? Yeah, so that could be a little bit stressful because not having that separation from home and work You know what and let me tell you like that was my biggest Wonder because I've never you know, I've never had the luxury to work from home. My my jobs have always been um Contracted my jobs have always been You know different places different routines. I mean me and coy would drive to different locations whether to shoot or do footage or photos, you know, we would always be bouncing around everywhere even during you know during the pandemic We're still bouncing around everywhere. So I Didn't really have never had you know, I really never had that drive home Until you know after it stopped and I was still doing that. I'm still doing the same thing where I was like Oh, I see why people don't mind the the drive home because when you get, you know That drive home could be could be the therapy you need To not lose it in front of everybody. Yeah, you know, I and that's right and the therapy you need before you meet up with the people that matter to your love You don't want to like take shit out on them. I know I don't like I Always joke around about it, but I hear a guy say like Man work. I work from home now. So, you know, I after I get off of work I you know I take a I take a ride on Grand Theft Auto down down yeah PCH Just the decompress and I'm like damn is it really that serious and I'm like damn I wonder like do people are people happy about the drive home now because of the fact that I Know it's the hour hour and a half that you drive home, but it gives you that chance to like Let all the bullshit that you dealt with that work go. Yeah Versus hold on to it, but I know during the pandemic. I actually enjoyed the drive to work Because it was less people oh yeah, that's my biggest thing is the traffic. I hate sitting and driving This is you know after a while you run out of things to do Hey, depending on how far the traffic is traffic is bad And we yeah, we we've all had friends who during the pandemic that worked at home and they needed Now get I needed to get out like you know what I mean? Like maybe they're not saying I missed the office Monday through Friday 9 to 5, but at least a couple times Yeah, do you think hybrid works better? I think hybrids the perfect thing I you know, okay. I would love to do a hybrid job where you work maybe like twice a week in the office Let me see if I can get my sister real quick. That is actually a good question to ask her Because she would know way more than I would about that and I actually would like to know I don't know what she's doing But hopefully she's not gonna crazy when I say Maybe she won't pick up Interesting How do you think hybrid helps our productivity to help just mental stress and productive? Well, yeah, I think I think it helps a lot because of the fact that Hybrid now let me turn her down and I will wait for her to call me back per the usual I read you. Oh I don't know I feel like to be honest with you hybrid helps I feel like hybrids like they do that 3 2 2 3 or you know where it's two days at work three days home or yeah Every other day at work and every other day home. Honestly, like I think it's a good mixture, you know, you know You know, you get sick of being in one place for too long. So if you mix it up a little bit, it's Maybe optimize the productivity of employees and employers too. They can see who really needs to be the office And it's less time off to people. Oh, yeah They know they got a day not a day off They got hours before now, you know, you're adding essentially half a day a year to your life Now let me ask you this. Do you think people are more productive at home than at work in hybrid situations? Or the vice versa. I mean it depends on person. Of course it depends on the first Not everybody's bill for well work well like where what yeah when the the work from home happened I guess a lot of employers saw who is really bullshit in the office You know because now you're not showing me you could work. Yeah, not at the office. Oh, you're doing Yeah, it's like kind of like when you cut the grass you see it, you know, yeah, but like hybrid You could probably still get away with with it, but it's probably better mental stress for the employee. Yeah Yeah, I mean you show up a couple times. Okay, cool. It gives them the to leave the house At home that you save a lot of time I knew a bunch of people that love to leave the house like because of the fact that they were going in Weeks weeks weeks weeks weeks weeks weeks weeks that they love to leave the house because of the fact that they were going Left and right and they actually like that. I just need to leave the house Like I don't like I get it. I love my family, but I need I need I need our milk. What do we need? You know to be honest with you, I think the separation helps the fam you got a real life. Yeah, we went from And that's why I was talking about the drive home helping decompress. You got to realize you guys, you know, you went from seeing your family Let's call it 20 hours a week Okay, like during the week it was 20 hours. It was You got, you know, you had to go to work for eight hours. You drove to work one hour. Yeah drove home one hour That's 10 hours, you know in eight hours, you know, minus the sleeping so you're at what? 18 hours, so you're only really home with your family for six Maybe and think about I'm pretty sure what when you worked at home in between you could still get chores done and stuff Right, there's no way you can get it done if you're physically not there. You can at least make maybe start dinner You could do laundry For the parents that have kids. It's probably a big issue, you know, you know, maybe sit or need it really different Yeah, you know, you were you know, everything cut back everybody was making a ton of money, you know Everybody was making money because you didn't pay gas gas prices. We're all saving our gas saving our gas Saving on wearing tear in your car. You were chilling Oh, man, we could do anything and you got those people that were working from home from home Yep, but then they're also starting to side business. They're at home and even work on it. Yeah, you weren't you weren't stuck in two hours of the traffic a day Hey, it's a lot, bro Two hours is a lot I get home and I have maybe an hour and a half two hours of spending with my son and then So get ready for it again. Yeah, the reason why this topic came up is because Me and koi I say Koi's is meme and this guy He got off work and was going into the bed And he was going into the bed and he said that when he jumped off to the bed and put him right back into work Oh, there's that Simpsons episode where Homer Man, but I mean, it's good to know that you know, like sometimes, you know It's always needed for a decompression and it helps so you don't put the strain on everything else at home But like I said my guy that is our 15 minute break JR. I appreciate you my god. We are out, right? [BLANK_AUDIO]
