So, on this Father's Day, we are continuing our... I'm Tom, I'm lead pastor here at Coast, good to have you with us. We are continuing our series, Dangerous Prayers, and what we've kind of been basing off, or one of our launch points has been this little text from the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, where as land, the Lion in C.S. Lewis is telling is a representative of God, and this is who God is, this is what God is like, he's represented as a lion, and we get this quote, "As land is a lion, the lion, the great lion, ooh," said Susan, "I thought he was a man. Is he quite safe? I shall feel rather nervous about meeting a lion." "Safe," said Mr. Beaver, "who said anything about safe? Or she isn't safe, but he's good, he's the king, I tell you." And I... In my flesh, I would like to tell all you dads out there, don't be too safe with your kids. I know that we live in a very, like, security-minded culture. I'm not going to say that because that's just me, in my opinion, but I will say this. God asks us to do things that are dangerous. He asks us to pray dangerous prayers. He asks us to be ready to do things that we don't want to do. I have here a picture about Harriet and Mirrors, or Henrietta Mirrors, sorry, Henrietta was born, I think, in 1890. She passed away in the 1960s, I believe, 1963. She was born in the Midwest. She was a smart, intelligent, kind of saucy, spicy girl when she was in kindergarten. Her kindergarten teacher was being very nice to the children. And she raised her hand and said, "Teacher, I'm not here to be amused. I'm here to be educated." And then when it was time for college, she was diagnosed with a really failing eyesight. And her professor said, "Number one, you're a girl, so you really shouldn't be in school anyway." But if you were to come to school, you could need to watch out because by the time you graduate, you'll likely be blind. And then she said, "Then blind I'll be, but at least I'll have something to think about." She became a chemistry teacher in the 1920, I believe, 1920s. She was a high school chemistry teacher at a time when being a single woman in the world was very rare and to be a professional was even rarer. She was asked, "How come you never wish to marry?" And she said, "Because St. Paul is not available." She had an amazing career at the height of her career in 1927. She wasn't sure if this is what God wanted for her. She was living in Minnesota at the time, and she said, "God, I don't know if you want something different from me, but here I am, Lord, send me." That week she was in church and there was a guest preacher from Hollywood. And this preacher came and he gave a sermon at the first Presbyterian church in Minneapolis and Henrietta was there and she heard it and she liked what she had to say. So she met him after the service and he said, "Hey, if you're ever out in California, it would be great if you came to our church." First Pres Hollywood and she said, "Okay." And then a few weeks later she and her sister got in a car together and drove across the country and they went to first Pres Hollywood and they met the pastor and he gave a sermon and at the end of the sermon he walked up to her and she asked her, "What are you doing
