All right, well, welcome. Everyone, I'm Tom, lead pastor here. It's so good to have you all with us. Man, last week, what an awesome fall festival we had. Just so really amazing. And just a big thanks to Lindsay Ballinger, primarily for putting it all together and making it happen. She's awesome. We are starting a new series today. We're laying to refs made for adventure, which was super fun. But this one's going to be really fun, too. It's called Love and Respect. And it's primarily, yeah, about marriage and relationships. What I want to say, though, is if you are not married, or if you are widowed, or if you are engaged, or if you are divorced, this is still for you, okay? God's word and God's vision for human life is not restricted to married couples. That's just not how God operates. However, we do want to see what his plan for human life is, and we do want to be engaged with that, and we want to let that guide us as we think about how we operate with each other and with him. And so that's kind of set the stage for what we're doing. So the first thing we need to find out is what is God's vision for humanity, and how does marriage fit into that? But before we do that, I want to kind of clear the deck. I want us to think, be realistic, honest, about the state of marriage and family in America today, okay? And so here are some interesting statistics. And here's the first one. In 1970, the marriage rate for US adults was 76.5%. Today, it's just over 31%, a nearly 60% drop. There's a lot of factors that go into this, but yeah, the baseline reality is that in 1970, 76.5, almost 77% of all US adults were married, okay? That is now just over 31%. Cohabitation is increasing across the board, and there's just, thanks in a lot of cases to birth control, that's a massive change in the way that humans relate to each other. And there used to be a very strong social stigma against being like unmarried. Now that's no longer the case, and it's just changed. And it's changing the very fabric of the country that we live in. And now, in some ways, in South Orange County, we're insulated from this a little bit.
