Hey, welcome welcome. It's awesome to have you all here. I'm Tom Lee pastor here at Kiss Couple just to add on so like a month ago a month a half ago Ray Varela was mauled by a dog And he wasn't able to walk, but here he is. He's here. He's back. It's good to see you, right? So that's it. I was talking to him on the phone this guy. He should definitely be laid up still but he's he's here And we super appreciate that We are missing a couple people today Bonnie Livingston who's been she's been battling she's getting ready for a surgery if you've noticed for like last year her like her head's kind of dipped and dipped down and Hopefully at the end of this month she can have a surgery But she's been struggling like she was in the hospital this week with edema and so she's she's battling keep her in her prayers Your prayers and then also Well, um as you know our good friend and dear sister Pat Mitchell passed a couple weeks ago And so we're just trying to you know be solid with John a couple of you've asked if we're gonna have a service here Probably not he's talking about doing maybe like a reception in the home at some point So I'll keep you updated about that. But today we are finishing our series made for adventure Today we're talking about an a really cool story from the Old Testament name in and it's a long story And so if you're not familiar with it This will just take it in chunks But I want you to see what what's gonna happen here is name and like everyone that we've been Dealing within this series is gonna be called out on the road called out to an adventure But it's not an adventure that he's going to like and for a number of different reasons But he but what happens to him is instructive for us when we get out on the road for our adventure of faith And so let's not take a look This is a second king's five and the first thing to notice is that name in was commander of the army of the king of a ram A ram is a neighboring country to to Israel. This is he is not Jewish. He's not Hebrew. He is a pagan He doesn't know the god of Israel now. He's a great man in the sight of his master the king of a ram He's highly regarded by all because through him the Lord had given victory to his country He's a valiant soldier, but but He had leprosy In the in the ancient world leprosy really means it's it's a type of skin disease and we're gonna find out later on that what what Name and suffers from is as some kind of blotch on his skin somewhere. Maybe one spot maybe multiple spots But in the ancient world that was something that was very very offensive and degrading because the ancient world people thought that that they had a unique notion of wholeness of wholeness and purity and So when ancient people saw things that were like that didn't have that they got very offended very very nervous In fact if you had what we think of now is like vidalago or something like that if you had that in the ancient world You wouldn't weren't allowed to worship that you would be excluded from worship services because they thought that that was offensive to God You're very you got vidalago you hit that I do actually for those of you who don't know this white patch I'm not going gray. Okay, that's this is this is a skin disease. Okay, it's true I got it from my dad and so the this white patch actually it's grown and shrunk over the years I for a while was like covering my face and then it kind of shrunk I would not have been I would have been considered a leper in the ancient world I would not have been allowed to worship God During regular worship service very odd and so here's this guy who's gone at all He's an amazing warrior highly regarded. We're gonna find out that he's rich, but He had leprosy bands of raiders from a ramp a ramp had gone out and taken captive a young girl from Israel This guy's Israel's enemy. He sent like like raiders to go and they captured like this poor Hebrew girl and and he made her a slave But and and he says she serves his wife She's a good slave
