We're back into Hebrews 11 mountain movers mountain moving faith Do you want to thank Patrick Vier our youth director for filling in for me last week? He did an awesome message if you didn't hear it about pride And it's it's on our website. So a coast Bible that we're checking out if you if you missed it But just awesome awesome stuff But we're we're jumping into the next of the heroes of faith the mountain moving faith the mountain movers And it's a Moses. So let's take a look at what the author of Hebrews says He says by faith and remember we're talking about mountain moving faith. There's different types of faith in the Bible The word pistis is the Greek for belief But it can mean everything from simple trust like the trust the child has in Jesus for salvation It can mean that they can also mean what the author of Hebrews is talking about which is faith that is like life-changing It's radical it causes you to do things. You never thought you could and it changes you And so it's that kind of faith that Moses uses what when he'd grown up refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh's daughter He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin He regarded he regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt because he was looking ahead To his reward If you don't know about Moses Here's the first thing we're highlighting his is that he's grown up and he refuses to be known as the son of Pharaoh's daughter He refuses to be a prince of Egypt. It's very odd If you don't know the backstory the backstory is that the Hebrew people Were in Egypt and they had been multiplying it lots of them they're having tons of kids everyone had 12 children it was insane how they were growing and they were slaves in Egypt and They were mistreated badly and yet they they started to grow and so the Pharaoh got scared that there would be too many Hebrew slaves to control and so he declares that we're gonna start killing kids Moses's mom Decides she she has him and she's like what am I gonna do? She puts him in a little basket and and sends him down the Nile River in faith like God saved his child and I have a classic piece from the 17th century of When Pharaoh's daughter the daughter of the king sees this little baby and picks him up rescues him and He's and she's like oh my gosh. I don't want this baby to die. That's horrible and then Moses's sister is like watching you know you can't you can see there's some people in the background there They're watching what's happening and she runs up and she's like hey if you want I could I could take care of this baby until he's grown up a little bit and so Moses is then given to his family they they wean him but then at a very young age He's given back to Pharaoh's daughter. He grows up as a prince of Egypt. He lives in the royal house They made they made a movie about it in 1998 Prince of Egypt, which I've never seen But I heard it's decent and interestingly our partners and friends in mission at Stony Brook They're their principal Jim Burgampus. I believe his son Connor actually sings in that movie So that's kind of cool kind of cool connection But one of the plot of the movie what I understand is it kind of fills in the gaps where the Bible isn't tell us what happens Right and so like Moses is growing up his brother is Ramsey's who's gonna become the Pharaoh and they have this competition With who's who's better leader who's and it's it's very you know exciting whatever but then then at a certain point Moses decides Something interesting to take a look here. This is Exodus 2 One day after Moses had grown up This is the first thing we get at him. We don't know exactly what his life was as a prince of Egypt But we know that he was he went out to where his own people were and watched them at their hard labor He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew one of his own people Looking this way in that and seeing no one he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand
