We're continuing our series in Hebrews on mountain movers and today we're gonna look at Noah, the mountain mover Noah. So let's take a look at our text. Hebrews 11, "By faith Noah when warned about things not yet seen in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is keeping with faith." And if you'll remember a couple weeks ago we kind of defined what faith is and just a reminder a mountain moving faith, first thing in your note sheets, experiences future victory right now and proves shows that faith is testifying to a real God. Mountain moving faith shows others that God's real and we're gonna see how that played out in Noah's life. And so to do that let's go back to Genesis 6 and let's find out what the author of Hebrews is talking about. So this is Genesis 6, the Lord Yahweh saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth. There's bad news, we've just had we remember last week we talked about some able Cain and able the first murder. Well things have gotten a lot worse. Every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth and his heart was deeply troubled or grieved. So the Lord said, "I will wipe from the face of the earth, the human race I have created." And with them the animals, the birds, the creatures that move along the grounds for I regret that I have made them. But one guy Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. And this is the account of him and his family. No it was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time and he walked faithfully with God. He had three sons, Shem Ham and J. 5th. Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight full of violence. God saw how corrupt the earth had become for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. So God said to Noah, "I'm going to put an end to all people. The earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth." So make yourself an ark of cypress wood, make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. Noah did everything just as God commanded him. This is a very controversial text for a number of reasons. Not the least of which is it makes God look like a bad guy, right? I mean who here is excited about a God who is willing to wipe out all of humanity? And how is that a God who's we say God is love? How is that love? Well the text is really really careful to explain why and how this disaster is taking place. Every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. Well that seems bizarre, right? How could that be? How is it that that that that's true? Like how is it that people are actually just evil all the time? Well that's what the text says. I mean it goes on. Look at this. What are they doing? It's violence, full of violence. The earth itself that the ground had become corrupt. The animals had become corrupt because of violence. The word for violence there is kind of the generic term for any action that uses force to hurt others. So it includes not just like hitting and killing and stabbing but it also includes psychological, emotional, and sexual violence. And so the earth, every human being, the human beings, were doing to each other all of the awful things that human beings can do. And so God says this the earth is full of violence because of this. It's like the earth is like this big bull and acts of hurting, acts of physical, psychological, emotional, sexual violence are just are just filling up the bull of the earth. Well we actually know how this comes to pass. We do now. We know this. I have some statistics here that are that are sobering and worth thinking about especially in light of the violence yesterday. So take a look at this. This is how evil works. So if a child is physically abused, the likelihood of that
