- Well, I wasn't here last week because we were doing one of the worst things you can possibly do, and that is flying back home from Kauai. I've never been to Hawaii, and apparently Kauai is different than most parts of Hawaii, so I don't really know. All I know is that last week I swam with the sea turtle, I touched its back, I named it Ali,
and I love him. If you weren't here last week, you missed out because while I was gone, Kaden Haramio, our youth intern, did the sermon, and he did a stewardship, and he did an outstanding job, like really, really good. Kaden, that was really great, man. (audience applauding) The thing is, like Jacob on drums, he's 13, Kaden's 20. We've got an rad generation of people coming up and carrying forth the faith, and that is so exciting. If you missed it, go to coastfowl.org, watch it. It was just a really outstanding message and right from the heart, and you just put so much time and effort into doing so well, man, I really, really appreciate it and appreciate you, so good job. But today, we're gonna talk about fasting, of all things, and that's because a number of you, over the last two to three years, have come up to me and asked me what the deal is with fasting, and so I've been kind of sitting in it, it's been in the back pocket for a while, and I thought today, we would kind of figure out what fasting is and whether or not it has a place in our lives right now as we go forward. So we're gonna start out in Esther 4, and check this out. When Esther's words were reported to Mordecai, he sent back his answer, don't think you're, just 'cause you're in the King's house, you alone, of all the Jews will escape what's gone on as there's this bad guy who wants to kill all the Jews, he's like proto-Hitler, his name's Haman, and the Jews find out about this, and some Mordecai's begging Esther, who's the King's wife, or one of his wives, to do something about it. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will rise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish, and who knows? Maybe you've come to your royal position
