(upbeat music) - Okay, send that chair. - All right, here's the deal. Marshmallow, for you. You can either wait and I'll give you another one if you wait or you can eat it now. When I come back, I'll give you another one. So then you'll have to. But stay in here and stay in the chair till I come back, okay? - All right. I'm gonna go do something and then I'll come back. - It smells yummy. - It smells really good. (upbeat music) All right, so I'm gonna leave and then I'll come back, okay? So you can either eat it right now or you can wait, either way, okay? Okay. How'd you do? Did you do good? You did? You wouldn't eat it, didn't you? Yeah, so that's how you had to give me another one. Okay, now you can have both. You need 'em. (upbeat music) - How many have you seen something like that before? The marshmallow test experiment, right? Well, I wanna let you know that that was a test that they did in 1960.
A psychologist decided like I'm gonna put four to six-year-olds in a room for anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes and give them a marshmallow and put it right there in front of them, open and available. And all they have to do is wait the 10 to 15 minutes depending on which test they used and they could have a second marshmallow. So I have two questions for you. Number one, number one. How many of you would've eaten marshmallow? It was just too tempting, right? By the way, a lot of these children had never eaten a marshmallow before. So just the curiosity of that alone, like smelling it, the sugar coming off of it, right? How many of you would've waited? Because two is better than one, right? How many of you identified with a little girl at the very end who just ate it right off the bat, right, right?
