- Yeah, we have a family service. Our kids, you're stuck here today, but it'll be all right. We're closing down our series. There will be giants today. If you've been with us, you know that we've been kind of following the life of David. And last week, David just started to collapse, and I am skipping all of the horrors that follow. But if you're curious, you can read 1st Samuel 22 up to our text today, 1st Kings 2, and you can see all of the madness and sadness that accompanies David's fall. But today, David's gonna face the biggest giant of his life, and that's the giant of letting go. This is something that's, I have this friend. I think he's 76, 77, something like that. And he started an accounting firm with his partner, gosh like, you know, 40, 50 years ago. And he's been an accountant, and he's been doing this thing, and he wakes up every morning at 5 a.m. And he goes to work, and he just won't quit. His accounting business is really what gives structure and meaning to his life. There's nothing else. And if you ever quit or ever stopped, I'm not sure that he would have, I don't know what he would know to do with himself. And over the last 15 to 20 years, it's made his partner really hate him, 'cause this partner wants to get out of there, cash out, and like retire. Like a normal person. But some of us, some of us, and it's not just obviously business, it could be a relationship, it can be friends, it can be just lots of dreams, goals. There comes a point in life where, you know, your projects, your, well in academia, we say this, we say there's two types of dissertations. There's perfect dissertations, and there's dissertations that are finished. And that's because if you wanna keep going, you can just keep typing, keep researching, and it'll never end. But at a certain point, it's time to let go. And so David's gonna teach us how to let go today. Let's look at our text. This is his parting words to his son Solomon.
