We've been in a series of what I'm not doing for Christmas. What I won't be doing for Christmas, we actually started four weeks ago, and we looked at the idea of Christmas, and one of the things Doug was emphasizing in our lyrics, emphasized in our worship songs, is that we're celebrating the coming of God, the coming of God to be with us. When God comes, salvation comes with Him, and the idea of behind advent, from like a theological perspective, is we're supposed to be resetting and re-engaging with what it looks like to be waiting for God to come save. And that just gets lost in the Christmas craziness. And so the second week we kind of talked about, instead of running around like chickens with our heads cut off, we're going to rest this season. Last week, I don't remember, what did we do last week? There was something we weren't supposed to, oh, I remember. Instead of having just work and all, instead like wonder, you know, wonder at the coming of God and the salvation that God brings. This week, I mean it's almost cliched at this point, but first off, did anyone see the Rams game yesterday? What a disaster that was. I mean, if you don't follow football, now is a good time not to be following football because all they had to do was like stop a three and 16, twice, twice they had to do it, and twice they failed. It was unreal how bad it was. But one of the things I like about watching football is it clues me into what the commercials are that are going on. My favorite commercial right now that's out is the one where it's Christmas, right? And then like the husband's like, yeah, dude, I've figured it out and I know what I'm going to do for my wife. And so Christmas morning, he takes her outside and there's two brand new cars. I think the one's like the, I think it Alexis is or something like that, something really obscene. And he's like, here you go, honey. And she runs to the truck and we're supposed to be like, oh, she's a tough, and he's like, well, I guess I like this SUV or whatever. The bottom line being that also their house is really amazing and it's better than yours. And like you watch, and they're young too, and good looking. Of course. So it's like, so you're looking at it and what you're supposed to take away is I'm not good enough. Like, if I really loved my significant other, I would purchase to $65, $70,000 cars, put a big bow on it, and let her choose which one she wants. And if you can't do that, you're failing at Christmas. And yeah, I get it. It's supposed to be like, you know, they're supposed to be, we're like, oh well, Christmas is about like giving gifts to show that we love our family. But there is an obvious and unrelenting, other kind of theme that goes on the way we do Christmas and that it's about stuff. And material success is the, it's what shows what a good person is. And I mean, yeah, of course we can say, oh well, no, we know. And we saw at the beginning of this series that riches aren't what matters, ultimately it's relationships.
