So, I have a friend named Dan, and Dan actually played guitar here from, like, 2005 to 2008, something like that. While he was playing guitar here, he was unemployed. He, after college, he went and he started working, and he decided he didn't like working, and so he quit. And his parents lived in Huntington Harbor, so he just boomeranged right back into his old room, and he spent the next three years playing World of Warcraft, which is a video game. He played for six to eight hours a day, and he did that because Dan will tell you, he himself will let you know he's an obsessive person. When he goes into something, he goes in hard. Now, I'm glad to inform you that he eventually broke out of the chains of World of Warcraft. He's an executive now, but he's still an obsessive guy, and so most recently what he's gotten into is he purchases little, like, miniature World War II soldiers and tanks, and he recreates moments from battles in World War II. He paints these little things. It takes him, you know, 40 to 60 hours to get—he's a real, real big dork. I mean, I love him. He's an awesome dude. He's a real big nerd, and in obsession, passionate pursuit of something, that's something that all human beings do, we tend to focus on stuff that's not, like, little miniature soldiers. We do other things. He says it relaxes him. I mean, I guess, okay, I would just go nuts, but we all obsess about different things. It tends that nerds really show us how crazy we can go, how off the deep end we can go with obsession. Jesus is going to address the actual—the obsessions that most of us deal with today. You'll remember last week, we started by the series "God's Generosity" by talking about how God has created the world to have just an abundance, so even when we're, you know, even when Adam and Eve are ejected from the garden, even when they're being punished, they're still God lavishes gifts on them, such that they are able to go and flourish in the world, even after they've been ejected from paradise. Well, today Jesus is going to—he's going to deal with the things that we obsess over their kind of unhealthy, and so this is a pretty famous piece of Scripture. This is mostly the new King James, so if you fall in your pubibels, you'll see that it's mostly King James. I've made some edits for clarity, but this is Jesus saying, and this is Luke 12. He says, "Jesus said to His disciples, 'Therefore, I say to you, 'Don't worry about your life, what you'll eat, nor about the body, what you'll put on. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them of how much more value are you than the birds, and which of you by worrying can add one qubit to his stature? Can you make yourself taller, live longer? If you can't even do such a small thing, why are you anxious about the rest? Consider the lilies, how they grow, that neither toil nor spin, and yet I say to even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so closed the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith? And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, stop worrying, for all these
