Some of you might be wondering why go through the book of Revelation five years after having done so here at Alliance Bible Church. I could respond to that numerous ways. I could say, well, first of all, 50% of those who attend our church weren't here five years ago. So they weren't here the first time around. But I would press deeper into that to say, I think the book of Revelation is the most misunderstood New Testament book, Bar none, without question, no argument there. So much of our understanding of this book has been shaped by an approach to it that developed in the 1800s, which I believe is off target. Folks, we don't get our understanding of the book of Revelation from Hal Lindsey and Tim Lahey. You got that? That's not how we do this. It's not how we do this. But I would also say that there's not a better book to help equip Christians to handle the news headlines better than Revelation. And that has always been a perennial struggle for believers. Handling the news headlines well has always been a perennial struggle for Christians. And I think that's a growth area for us as a church. Handling news headlines well is a growth area for us. And there's no better book to dive into to help equip us to do that than the book of Revelation. Now, last week we entered a new section, six to 16. It's got the famous seal strumpts and balls with some interludes and I'll get to all that. But we opened the first four seals. What do we see? The four horsemen of the apocalypse. We've got geopolitical war involved there. We've got civil strife. We've got economic breakdown. We've got scarcity, famine and death. These horsemen are not talking about
