Hebrews chapter three. We've been journeying through this wonderful letter to the Hebrews towards the end of your Bible, Hebrews chapter three. And what we're gonna do is we're gonna look at the entire chapter this morning. I'm gonna walk through the passage, point out a few things on the way. And then at the end, I'll wrap it up with two points of application. Hebrews chapter, chapter three. Beginning in verse one. Hebrews three, verse one. Here God's word. Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus the apostle and high priest of our confession. If you remember last time as we looked at chapter two, the ending of chapter two speaks about how since Jesus himself suffered when he was tempted, he's actually able to help us in the midst of our temptation. And so coming off the heels of that, the author here is encouraging us to then consider Jesus, the one who's able to help us in our temptation. And what does he call him? The apostle and high priest of our confession. So if you think back to the 12 apostles, they were sent by Jesus. They were messengers for Jesus. And here that's attributed to Jesus himself. Jesus was sent by God, a messenger of God to atone or cover for our sin. And so you have that in the high priest. The priests were in the Old Testament. They offered sacrifices for the people of Israel. They were the ones who stood on behalf of the people, for God. The high priest was the one who would offer up a sacrifice on the day of atonement, which was once per year,
