We may have a hard time understanding the wrath of God. It may even make us feel uncomfortable. But, why is that? And what makes it challenging to share that news with others? We will see another prophet to Nineveh as Nahum helps us to see a clearer picture of God and a greater appreciation for the cross of Christ. So we are continuing journeying through the two prophets to Nineveh. We have completed and wrapped up the book of Jonah. And today we begin the book of Nahum. In both of these books, we have two prophets and both books speak of the city of Nineveh. In Jonah, the people repent. They turn away from their sin. They believe in God. God shows them mercy. Nahum, it is much, much different. And so as we begin this and as we look at Nahum over the next couple of months in these three chapters, it's helpful for us, I think, to know this, that this is going to be heavy because all of Nahum is about God's wrath. The whole, all three chapters are about judgment. And so I want to start off actually reading something from the book of Acts. This is Acts, chapter 20. And this is verses 26 through 27. And it says, "Therefore," this is Paul speaking, "I testify to you this day that I am innocent "of the blood of all. "For I do not shrink from declaring to you "the whole counsel of God." Paul here is speaking to the elders of the church. And he's telling them, and he said this earlier in the passage, "Shoo, he didn't shrink "from declaring everything that's written in God's word." That is, he didn't pick and choose what he wanted to say. He spoke of and proclaimed what God, God has clearly laid out
in his word. And so there are things that are hard in God's word that are challenging and difficult, but we cannot shy away from it. We have to speak and proclaim the truth of God's word. And what is it that God has said in his word? And what's interesting too, is that in the context, Paul then goes on to say that they need to watch out because they're gonna be wolves. There are wolves who are gonna be coming
