The SEC's threat of expelling LSU from the conference appears to have dissipated, with both sides backing off. Having said that, our LSU Insiders are not sure this situation is over and will discuss the possible ways it could go in the future.
Meanwhile, on the field, LSU will try to follow up an amazing Week 1 performance when it faces Louisiana Tech. Will lack of focus be an issue? Is LSU going to run up the score whenever possible this year? We'll give our picks for Week 2, as well as preview a huge weekend elsewhere in the SEC.

You're welcome in to the LSU Sports Insider podcast today is Thursday, September the 10th Zach Ewing here with Reid Darcy and Koki Riley. Little Louisiana Tech Preview for you coming on this episode and what would an LSU podcast be without a little courtroom talk? We'll talk I guess here here order in the court in today's case it's not really courtroom talk as much as it is SEC Zoom call talk because that is happening later today. I think the news over the past three days since we last or two days I guess we had a podcast Tuesday about the SEC threatening to expel LSU and kick them out of the conference and we all kind of said that's not really going to happen and cooler heads have prevailed apparently. Reid it looks like this meeting today is going to be more of a formality or a just sort of deciding whether to give LSU a little slap on the wrist than it is actually going to expel LSU from the contest. LSU is not getting kicked out of the SEC today. We know that for sure. LSU backed off the ledge. Was it Tuesday Koki? I'm getting all my days mixed up. It was Tuesday night where they decided not to put Daquan Wright and Zavian Harris on their roster. I think so yes. Notably the day that the SEC threatened because like people were talking behind the scenes and they were talking to reporters like around the conference as this all was building the last three or four weeks saying something to the effect of oh we could kick LSU at the conference. Oh there will be 10 different schools lining up to take their place and we would get to pick whichever one we wanted to go. It became real on Tuesday when the SEC actually scheduled a vote to kick LSU at the conference. Lane Kiffin really took this thing to the brink and then backed out at the last second kind of similar to what he did last fall when he was you know leaving an old miss to take the LSU job. He fought and fought and fought to coach in the playoff and then at the last second he backed off and went to LSU. So that's his MO and that's where we're at. Maybe LSU gets a slap on the wrist but the nuclear button will not be getting pressed today. Yeah I think that's most likely is that LSU will get some sort of you know cue dean warmer double secret probation or maybe like a small fine or something or just a public reprimand that kind of thing coke where it'll be like hey just don't do this again and LSU back down and we you know we had all of the oh this is ridiculous let's just play football comments which is kind of like well that's what everyone else was saying last week when these when LSU was and again we can't you can't officially say LSU is spearheading these lawsuits because technically they weren't but it was pretty obvious what was going on that these student athletes were doing this at the behest of LSU. Well I'm glad you brought that up because that's what makes getting a punishment here so tough to deterrent because the SC technically doesn't have anything official that says that LSU very actively colluded with these NFL players and trying to get them back like there's no they don't have any hardcore evidence on them or because if they did it would be in the lawsuits that we had we've been looking over for the past week or two and it just wasn't in there and I so I mean they would have to if they were gonna want to do anything more than just like a fine or have to even put together a fine in probation then I think they have to find like real evidence as to whether they actually colluded here because they're not in the original lawsuit that made these players eligible to never sign these players the closer they ever got to adding them as one of them practiced which I guess maybe they could punish them on that but that's not clearly in the bylaws that you said you can't have an NFL player not practicing your team so and I don't know like there's like I understand why the SC went to the mat for this but I just don't really know what grounds can they really like say suspend link him for three games on for even if they say he spiritually want to do it because it's like spiritually I think spiritually they want to do it because they it's like a parent looking at their child and being like well you took my phone and started playing with it but you didn't actually like call 911 or or do anything actually nefarious right you they it was it's just it's like a spoiled brat kid just like kind of going rogue in the house but going and getting close to the edge of actually doing something bad but not actually doing it if that makes sense and we are kind of still in uncharted waters because for most of the history of college sports the conferences have outsourced these kinds of things rulemaking rule enforcing to the NCAA and now they're starting to experiment with the idea of
