Welcome into the LSU Sports Insider podcast Monday, August the 31st, Zach Ewing with Scott Ravelay and Koki Riley. We made it to the end of August. We have made it to Game Week boys. We're here. LSU plays Clemson on Saturday. We're still talking a bunch of lawsuits and crap, but I mean, at least with balls here with it. Yeah. Yeah. Seems like you don't seem too excited. I'm just, I'm just kind of like this is still going to be more legal this week. You're still bogged down by that. That's right. But yes, it's exciting. I mean, that we're finally at the Game Week and it's a big game. It's probably the biggest game in the country for in week one, you know, college game days coming and obviously it's sort of laying key of an era and what are they going to be like and there's so many questions to answer. It's, I look, I've said with all the other stuff off the field. I've covered LSU football since 1992. This is the most, I think I've never seen such anticipation for a season even 2019 because people are just like, what's it going to be like? And what's this guy going to do? And at LSU, meaning Lane Kiffin, it's just, it's just fascinating. And we're going to be here to tell you about it all. And we're here to talk about it today, fortunately. I love, I love the opinion that college football survives despite all of this bull that goes on behind the scenes, for lack of a better word, because the product itself is so good. And once the games start, everybody remembers why they love it so much. And the band plays and they talk about the sun setting over, you know, in the Western sky and the fireworks go off and the cannon goes off and the game starts and the, I mean, and it's just intoxicating. And I think that we're going to get there this year too, despite all of this stuff, which we, we're going to start with, but we're mostly going to talk football today. But despite all that stuff, coke, once the games start, you sort of shove all that to the back of your mind and you have fun with it. Yeah, absolutely. And there's a reason why this, there's a reason why there's, I think like the courtroom stuff is very connected to the stuff on the field, because if we didn't care and weren't as invested in the stuff on the field and spend so much money on wanting to see this product weekend and week out, then we wouldn't be seeing, you know, court battles in the courtroom. So like they're cut, it's like an ecosystem that's all sort of feeding off of each other, right? And I, I'm, I guess, interested in the courtroom stuff mostly because it's history, right? Like, we've never seen NFL player come back to college football. But the same time also itching for the games and getting like a slight appetizer of that this weekend was nice. I don't know if we're going to talk about week zero at all. It would look football itself wasn't great, but it was great to have it on. So I, yeah, I'm obviously very much looking forward to the games and very much looking forward to being able to concentrate on the games and talk about the teams and talk about who's good and who's not. But you know, there's also part of me that's also interested in the courtroom stuff from just a pure historical standpoint. Like we're living in history, sort of, sort of like big picture thinking, even though like the monotony of what's a preliminary injunction is a little bit dull. Yeah, it is. And we do need to get through that part of this. So let's talk about it. We've looked, we did two full episodes last week on the legalities and the courtroom drama and what's coming. And there's more coming because Thursday is, of course, the date of the petition will be heard in a Baton Rouge courtroom and that that will, I guess, determine at least for the beginning of the season, whether these players coming back from NFL training camps, Jack Pibern was cut by the Buccaneers yesterday, yesterday was cut down day for NFL teams. He is itching to get back into an LSU uniform and play, I guess possibly as soon as Saturday, if not very quickly down the road. But this, the SEC has said, hey, we're going to comply with court orders, but they've also sort of said, we're sure as hell going to fight those court orders on Thursday. So it's going to, it's going to be interesting to see what happens. It is. And as Koki said, it's an unprecedented time. It sounds very strange to, just as we
