After having a little bit of a crisis post returning from travelling last month (listen to that episode here), I thought it was the right time to overhaul my business and treat myself like a client for a few days.
In this episode I speak about the steps I took before I began, including the practical things that helped me along the way and most importantly share an insight into the business strategy that I am taking moving forward.

A few weeks ago, I shared with you that I was going through a little bit of a crisis in my business. If you haven't listened to that episode yet, I'll link it in the show notes. I basically talked you through how my own business crisis ended up in me just realizing that I really needed to overhaul my business strategy. Now, I believe in business that strategy is not a one-time thing, and it's totally normal, whether it's every six months, every year, or just in a rhythm that ends up feeling right for you. You kind of need to come back to your strategy and give either everything an overhaul or come back to something specifically and kind of realign just that part of your business. Having shared that I kind of had that realization, what I then did was treat myself like a client, and I spent two days last week overhauling my whole business strategy. Now, I promise that I would bring you on this journey with me, because I think we hear the word "strategy" talked about a lot, I think we see people say like, "Oh, I've done all my strategy work." And I actually know what that looks like for people, I think, is a whole different ballgame. And also, because this is the work that I do with my one-to-one clients, I can let you in on some of my process as well. So, I've just overhauled my whole business strategy, but what does that actually look like and what has that then done for me? If you want the context on what has led me to feeling like I needed to overhaul my strategy, you're welcome to go back and listen to that past episode for all of the detailed context. But to give you a bit of a summary, I was just starting to feel like I had a newer vision, a clearer vision of where I wanted things to go, and it's safe to say I was just feeling a little bit frustrated by the lack of strategy that I had that was going to get me there. The reason that I shared that episode and talked about, you know, I'm having a business crisis and kind of explained what that means for me is because I think a lot of the time in business, when we have big feelings, right? When we're overwhelmed, having a crisis, panicking, you know that feeling where you kind of want to rip everything up or just start again. Usually, where that feeling is coming from is in some kind of need to update the strategy. Take it from someone who works with a whole load of different business owners on this stuff. Often, when you're having one of those big feelings, when you're perhaps having what might feel like in the moment a little bit of a business crisis, what that's really coming from is just a new vision that you have and a sense that you need to make a few changes in line with that. For me, it's probably been a good six to 12 months since I really looked at my whole business strategy. And in that time, you know, I'd relaunched on it for 2026. The success of that had kind of shown me more of what my business was capable of. I'd had that time away traveling Bali and Australia at the start of this year. And ultimately, I had just had a bit of time to not only get more clarity, but also as a business owner, as a human, to evolve my own vision and definition of success as well. I really knew that my business could be working harder for me. And that's why initially it felt like a crisis because it came from me feeling just so frustrated that, like, I think I could be doing more, doing better, making more from this business, you know, not just making more money, but more ease, more impact, more simplicity. And I was feeling the frustration that that wasn't happening, which ultimately, when I sat with it, just gave me a nudge to come back to my strategy. So that is now what I'm on the other side of doing. When I say that I've overhauled my whole business strategy, what that looks like is really going through every single part of my business plan, auditing it, and then realigning it with my vision in mind. This is not a small bit of work. And I have to say, it is particularly difficult, I think, doing this work for and by yourself. You know, the whole reason that my job exists, the reason that my one-to-one clients hire me, is because it can be really hard to do this strategic planning by yourself. There's that phrase in there of you can't read a label when you're inside the jar. When there's someone who's external to you, they might be able to see things in a clearer, quicker, more straightforward way. But also the biggest thing that I think is just challenging about doing this on your own is that it is tiring work. Take it from someone that has literally just done two days worth of business strategy. I have a whole new level of respect for my clients, for what I was going to say, for what I put them through. But, you know, they want it and it's for their business. But it's hard work. Like, when you're doing strategic work, you're asking yourself so many questions. You're sitting with a lot of uncertainty. You're having to kind of lean into the discomfort and the unknown because the answers don't always come immediately. And there's a lot of things to think about. So because I do this for other people, you know, yes, I kind of wish that I could just copy and paste myself and have me sat there helping me. The obvious benefit, though, is that I kind of know how to do this. So I followed my process, which I'm going to share more about here. And I also put in place, I think, in other few key things that are really important when you're doing this kind of strategic work. Whether you are overhauling your whole business strategy like I did, you know, that takes a good amount of time, or even just doing a bit of a refresh, checking in on just one specific area. I think a few things are particularly important. First of all, I think it's important that you wait for when the timing feels right. Now, I hesitate to give you this advice because you might interpret this as like, I need to wait until I feel perfectly ready. If you're waiting for that, you're probably going to be waiting a long time.
