This episode of The Accuratings eventing podcast is supported by our friends at Fairfax and Favour. We wanted to tell you a little bit more about their extraordinary story. It was a story that began back in 2012 when two friends made a rather ambitious pact, combine their middle names and launch their very own footwear brand. They were actually funded by shifts at the local pub and they then took a once in a lifetime trip to Spain to find a factory that would produce luxury goods that would help kickstart the dream. From storing their precious new wares in a loft launching on the show circuit and pursuing that dream, the Fairfax and Favour vision has since exploded and there's a range now that includes bags, clothing, boots and sandals. The luxury shoe giants have an array of awards including last year a Lloyd's Bank business excellence award and they're passionate about raising money for charity and have already donated over half a million pounds to really worthy causes. Their story continues but for more information, go and visit their website Fairfax and Favour.com. Welcome to the grassroots show on The Accuratings eventing podcast and listeners. We have a review of the year. I've been really excited to do this one. I think it's such an exciting show being able to wrap up the whole year. I'm going to pre-apologise from my voice if I sound a little bit stuffy. I've got a bit of a cold so I'm going to pre-apologise for that. But with me to review the year is a lady who's been battling a cold all week, bless her and it's getting better but it's still feeling a little bit stuffy. Nicole Brown, thank you for coming on the show. I was going to say Rosie you found sound fabulous. I am my voice is much improved. Listeners, you would feel very sorry for me. I went on decorating school on Monday when I was sort of like church, mouse territory. I was squeaking away and most of the team were really sympathetic and our lovely downward bum was literally like oh my god this is great. Can we do an Instagram live? This is brilliant. This is going to be an audio bed in the future. I mean I sounded horrendous. Anyway, I'm good and I would say listeners. I mean Spike, there's obviously lots of bugs going around at the minute but Spike was on the Greetings Horse of the Year contenders list and there was a comment on Facebook from a lovely listener saying that they were loving Spike's Husky voice. So we've got a lot to live up to Rosie to be honest. No, I haven't hit like that sexy Husky voice. I'm just bummed up. I think I just bypassed that. Anyway, I'm looking forward to this because there are some very, very, very impressive performances from grassroots level this year. There certainly is and we're going to split the show up into three sections and we'll be kicking things off with Rider of the Year. I wanted to pick a rider from GB from Ireland and from the US who I think stands out as Rider of the Year at Grassroots level which I must say is incredibly hard. When I'm going through some of the stats center people have had phenomenal seasons but we're kicking things off over in GB. My Rider of the Year over in GB is a lady I spoke to a few weeks ago. A few of you may have listened to the show. It was Natalie Weston K. She has had a fabulous season and I just picked her for Rider of the Year because not only has she had an amazing season, she's rode four horses. She's had nine top fives at 20 runs and she won the 90 centimetre OBP League on Twilight Thunder. But I just liked her story. She came out of retirement to compete her daughter's rides because her daughter had injured her leg so she came out of retirement to go ride her daughter's horses and it turned out to be a very good season on a lot of them especially Twilight Thunder who isn't her horse. She runs a livery yard. That's her main job in a riding school and I just loved her story that she's come out of retirement. She's still got her livery yard and her riding school. They've made it through Covid just about as a big family affair and then she's come out and had the most amazing season on horses that aren't even her own and she said she was a bit nervous to come out because she was older but she's come out and smashed it and I think she's going to be back next year. I tell you one thing, her daughter is going to have a lot to live up to. An awful lot to live up to. I mean no pressure at all but that is a seriously good season actually. Yeah she won every single 90 event on Twilight Thunder. She did three events won them all and that's how she won the OBP League so no she's had very good season of good luck to
