Hi. Melissa DeLee back with another edition of Health Hacks. This week I'm going to talk to you about poop. And I know that's not something we generally talk about in society and we think of it as gross, but the reality is, is it's important to understand for your health and that of your family members. And so I want to encourage you to start looking in the toilet before you flush. Now an ideal poop is something that is sausage shaped and smooth and easy to pass. That means you're doing well. But if you're somebody that has hard separate lumps like nuts, well that's an indication that not only you're dehydrated, but you're not getting enough fiber in your diet. So you might want to be adding more fruit and veggies. And then there's the other end of the spectrum where it's almost diarrhea and there's too much liquid happening. And that can be an indication of the body trying to expel something's virus and infection of some sort that's coming out. And you want to be replacing those lost fluids and ensuring that you're building back up your electrolytes. So a glass of warm water with the scoop, I mean, with the juice of half a lemon or half a lime and a small amount of sea salt or Himalayan rock salt can help you do that. The other poop that you want to be looking out for is one that's soft and sticks to the side of the toilet bowl. Because that's an indication that you've got too much oil in your diet or that your body isn't processing fats well. And of course, there's the whole gamut from constipation to diarrhea and everything in between. But I just wanted to give you that heads up to start looking at your poop, start thinking about it. And if you'd like to know more, please reach out. And I'd love to hear in the comment below, is this something that completely grosses you out? Or are you open to learning more about your poop as it is a clue to your digestive and gut health? Thank you for joining me.
