If you have a Bible turned to 1 Chronicles 28, 1 Chronicles 28. If you don't have a Bible, grab one, and I think it'll be page 231, 231 in your Pew Bible there, 1 Chronicles 28. It was quite an encouragement to witness those baptisms, huh? To see children and to see adults making that step in their journey of faith. It's honoring to the Lord and it's encouraging to us. And again, I'll say to you, if you've never been baptized, it's never too late. We've baptized young and old, anyone who is trusted in Jesus as their Savior. And as you read the New Testament, the pattern is, when you get saved, you get baptized. Usually it was right away back in that day, but nevertheless, if it's been years and years since you came to faith in Christ, there's still time for you to make that step in your spiritual journey. We'd encourage you to do that. Let me open this up in a word of prayer. Heavenly Father, Lord, would you take now this time in your word and would you use it for your glory? Let your spirit fill us now and give us eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart that is wide open and ready to appropriate this truth into our life. We pray in Jesus' name, amen. In the midst of a series called The Rest of Life Resurrected, The Rest of Life Resurrected. And in essence, what we're looking at is everyday common things of life that we want to look at through the eyes of Jesus and say, "How can we do this, this common thing, and yet resurrected in such a way that God would be honored?" And so we've looked at things like, "What does it mean to go to work, to have a vocation, and carry out that vocation as God would have us do it? What does it mean to be a parent, as God would have us parent? What does it mean to interact with technology and social media as God would have us do it?" We do that every day. What does it mean most recently to rest, to actually sleep and rest, which encompasses anywhere from 25 percent, which is not good, all the way to about a third, which is much better, of your human life? When you think about it, you sleep and rest for up to a third of your human life. And so it's important to say, "Hey, that's a normal, everyday part of life. What do we do with it? What does God's words say about it?" And if you missed last week on rest, on sleep and rest, or if you were resting a little more during the service, you can go back and listen online. I'd encourage you to do that. Today's message, we're going to be looking kind of a continuation, a little bit of what we did on sleep and rest, and that is today, we're going to be looking at our human body. How we live in this thing 24/7, how does God want us to look upon and take care of our human body? Part 9 in the series, "Living in our Body/Temple," temple. First Chronicles, chapter 28, beginning in verse 10, I want to go through a succession of passages here. We're going to go through them rather quickly, and I want you to catch, for just a moment, the background and the story of what was happening in ancient Israel. The year was about 970 B.C., and King David of Israel was about to pass on his throne to his son Solomon, and as he was about to pass on his throne to his son Solomon to lead all of the kingdom, he said to Solomon, "I want you to take the plans that I have made
