Well, good morning. John Varela, you stole my opening illustration. I was gonna talk about the fall. Now, hey guys, what do you think of this weather lately? Boy, it's been raining lately and changing weather, you know? My roof been leaking. I was so glad it did, you know. The weather is crazy though, hasn't it happened? I mean, if you, if I don't know if you've noticed, but we've had like more rain at the start of September than I can ever recall living down here. I haven't been down here that long. I've been in Southern California for maybe 10 years or so, but can anyone recall this much rain in September? No? There are some significant changes going on and I personally like it. I personally like this change. I like the cold weather. My wife and I, she, you know, she gets kind of giddy when it gets cold like this. She starts whipping out the hot chocolate and she pulls out her fall decorations and is decorating all over the house. We've already got our, our, our pumpkins out and our fall leaves out all over the house. It's a new season. A new change. In the book of Mark, the gospel of Mark, chapter 1 verse 16, we are going to begin to see a whole new world, a whole new world. Times are absolutely changing in the land of Galilee. A man by the name of Jesus Christ has shown up on the scene and with him comes a whole new season, a whole new period of change for that regular little town of Capernaum, a simple little town on the northern coast of the Sea of Galilee, a village, one of the more prominent villages on the Sea of Galilee, but nevertheless a small village and these people are about to watch someone who's going to bring in a great deal of change. Jesus Christ is walking into their village today and he's bringing with him a whole new season, a whole new outlook on life and everyone around him is going to be attracted to this new change. The title of my message today is One Day With Jesus. One Day With Jesus, five lessons from Capernaum. I couldn't put it any other way because this is a day with Jesus. With the exception of perhaps the first story we see our text today is going to cover a 24-hour period, a 24-hour period in Jesus' earthly ministry, perhaps the first 24 hours of ministry in Galilee. Turn in your Bibles to Mark chapter 1 verses 16 and we're going to go all the way to 38 but we're going to read differently today. We're not going to read through the whole text as one. I want to read these in vignettes in small stories, small bite-sized stories. There are five of them and with each story I'd like to draw out a lesson that you and I can learn from in each of these stories and so we're going to read them piece by piece by piece and in the end we're going to try and pull them all together and find out what exactly is taking place in this One Day with Jesus. Turn in your Bibles to Mark chapter 1 we're going to begin in verse 16. Now again with the exception of this first story everything that you read here is taking place in a 24-hour period. This story at the start perhaps happened just days earlier. Take a look at Mark 1 16 to 20 it says this and as he that is Jesus walked by the Sea of Galilee he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea for they were fishermen then Jesus said to them follow me and I will make you become fishers of men then immediately they immediately left their nets and followed him when he had gone a little farther from there. He saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother who were who also were in the boat mending their nets and immediately he Jesus called them and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants and went after him. Follow me and I will make you become fishers of men. Jesus' summons to these four fishermen is very apropos in light of their profession. They were fishermen they were men who would go out into the Sea of Galilee who would catch fish and bring it
