(upbeat music) - Welcome to the what the (beep) golf podcast. I'm Eddie and over there is my good buddy and co-host and best golfer I know, Kevin Krap. How you doing today, Kevin? - You know, Eddie, it's been raining for like nine straight days. - You know, I would say more than anything, I am just sleepy. - Sleepy, yeah. - This is great sleeping weather. It's not great anything else weather. - I've heard that the sun will come out tomorrow. (laughing) - Are you going to vet your bottom dollar? (laughing) - Oh yeah. - This time I meet it. I actually think Thursday, yeah. But I gotta say, I'm right there with ya. I'm tired of the rain. My lawn is, there's no way you're hitting more than a 60 degree wedge out of the grass in my lawn right now. That's how thick and wet it is. - Okay. - It's brutal. - Yeah. - So I actually got out of the sun. I mean, I got out of the rain and went to Punta Cana into Dominican Republic. - Nice, how did you were like? - Yeah. - Yeah, 20 celebrating our 20 year wedding anniversary. - That's impressive, very nice. - Yeah, it was awesome. And it was, I can, let me just, for those in the mid Atlantic, I can assure you, the sun is up there. I saw it when the flight took off. I saw the sun when we broke through the clouds. And it was shining in Punta Cana the whole weekend. So. - Nice, good. - Yeah, it was great. These days. - I didn't know if you were just like, initially when the, when your post went up, I was like, did he, did he say he was going there? Or did he just like, finally go, okay, this weather sucks and I'm just going to. (laughing) Get out of this. - Right, yeah, no, it was great. I, it's funny, like, so Aaron and me were comparing our phones at the end of the trip and like over the course of, like three were there for three days. Like we had no more than 200 steps on any given day. Like we literally just like rolled out of art. (laughing) Like the furthest we would walk was like the beach bar. That was, that's about it. So. - Oh, that sounds fantastic. It was a tremendously awesome weekend. - So 20 years, did you get her a medal? I mean, think about it, think, you know, you've been, you've been a golfer this whole time, right? - That's right. - So, I mean, let's face it. If you're a golfer and your wife, you know, puts up with all that, she deserves a medal. (laughing) - Well, that's fair and, you know, I gotta say, yeah, it's clear that she still loves me. And she's still attracted to me after 20 years because every time I walk by her, she always says, what an ass. (laughing) - There you go. - All right, beautiful. - Yeah. (laughing) - The dog's got a hold of the squeaky toy. - Nice. - That's, that's dog in his natural state right there. - Yeah, let's see if they can, this won't be the best radio, but can you see him there? - Oh, yeah. - Oh, that's nice. - Get that sneaky. Get that sneaky. (laughing) - Oh, man. So, let's see, we, we haven't even gotten to the agenda yet. - There's an agenda? - There, I don't know. - There's rules? - No, I don't know, I don't know. What are we doing again? - All right, so let's, let's how about this? - We'll start with beers and cheers. - Okay. - And then, if we must. And then, I wanna hear some of, about your golf, 'cause it's been a couple weeks since we recorded. - Yeah, there's not a huge amount to report on. I did not play today. - Okay. - Yeah, I played last day. - I played with Mr. Damology in a two man last, last Thursday. - Nice. - At one man or however, so we can definitely talk about that. And, I don't know. Maybe talk to President's Cup a little bit and talk about. - Yeah, we can definitely do that. Have you played at all? - I have. - You know, while you were jet setting around the world to sunny locales. - Well, I did not play the golf course that was at the resort we were saying at, which is, I think it's called Punta Estrada. And it's in the, in the world, I think it's ranked something like 42 out of like, number 42. - Oh, goodness gracious. - I think it's the, I think it's the highest rated golf course in the Caribbean. I will send you, I will send you some pictures of that golf course. But I did not golf this weekend. - You know, on this whole I would have made. (both laughing) - Right. - And on this whole I would have made, yeah. - Yeah. So it was a small sacrifice, not golfing over the weekend. But I did play the weekend before. - You didn't sacrifice. (both laughing) - Let's just say, if I ever make it back there, I will definitely be golfing. We'll put it that way. - Yeah, when you've got that good a golf course, literally right out your door. - Yeah. - Yeah, that's a tough one to get away from if you ask me. - Yeah, I tried, you know, I tried the whole thing like, hey, honey, I'm gonna go run an errand. I'll be back in four and a half hours trick, but that didn't, you know, she didn't fall, she didn't fall for that one. - Yeah, you know, that's, that one's kind of, kind of old and old and tried and not so true. (both laughing) - Right, well, before we get to, I guess we developed an agenda on the fly. So before we get to any of that, I want to thank our friends at Chasing Ace's Golf. And I want to send you over to their website so you can check out what they've got in time for some fall golf. And I think Autumn Golf is the best golf, in my humble opinion, in the Mid-Atlantic. - I like fall ball, fall ball is good. - It is, it is. So check them out at www.chasing aces.com, check out what they've got, check them out on Instagram too, really cool Instagram page that Jeff runs, that they're at Chasing Ace's Golf. And I think now it's time for our favorite sound of the week. - Oh, yes, here we go. - You want to count us down? - Yeah, so let's, yeah, let's pop this thing before we start talking about it. You ready? - Yeah. - Three, two, one. - Oh, yeah, that was nice. - I love that sound. - Yup. - Whoa, what a coincidence. I didn't even notice the full name of this beer. - Yes, the sixth orbit. - Hazy anniversary trip time, yeah. - Hey, how 'bout that? Has your anniversary been hazy? - It was a little bit one night, you know. (laughing) - In 20 years, I'm sure there was some hazy in there somewhere. (laughing) - How do you think Aaron puts up with me? - So. - Hey, this is good. - Well, I'll tell you. - This is quite good. - It looks, it looks great. Smells great. - Yeah. - I got new trails always good. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Holy cow. - This tastes like orange soda. - This kinda does, yeah. This is my third beer of the day. - Mm. Nice, nice. - Mom and I, I took, well, once golf got canceled because the course hadn't been mowed in three days, was walking only. - Yeah, it just didn't sound great. So we, we decided to push back. I was, I was up seeing mom early this morning and then I was like, hey, you just wanna go out to lunch. So, came back, ran a couple of errands, then went and grabbed her and we went to Evergreen for lunch. - Oh, nice. - Yes. - And you said their food's pretty solid too. So it's not just a beer. - I'll tell you what, I had Smash Burger and Tater tots today and. - Yeah. - So good. - Nice. - So, so good. - Well, I do love me some Tater tots. - So I had two, I had two double IPAs at lunch today. - Oh. - And now you're on the triple. - Yeah, yeah, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm in extra bases this week. (laughing) - Doubles and troubles. - Nice. - Yeah, I had the Moray Eel, which was very good. And then I had the, what was it called? And I can't remember what the other one was called. Something of disorder. Anyway, both were very good. - Thank God. - Not as good as this one though. This one's actually, of the beers I've had today, this one's actually the best tasting. - Yeah, this, well, sometimes they get better tasting the more, yeah, of them. (laughing) Just like my jokes gets funnier. (laughing) - It's been a while since I've had one though. I know we, I think the last one finished up at about 12, 30. So. - Okay. - It's been, it's been a while. My normal taste buds are, are back in the, in their rightful place. - Nice, nice. Oh, right. Boy, what do we, I mean, I'm, I, again, I told you orange, orange soda is, is a big flavor I'm getting here. - I love it. It's, it's hard to believe that we're looking at, what, 10.6%? - Yeah, yeah. It's reasonably strong. It's not the strongest we've had, but it is strong. - What was the full enchilada? What was, was that, that had to have been up there too? That was. - Yeah, that one was up there. - Yeah. - Definitely over 10. - The exact number was, I was complaining to our waitress today, who had only been there for a short period of time but they don't keep their beers in line long enough. - Ah, and what did she say? - She said, yeah, you're right. - Yeah. - Which is, which is the only acceptable response to that because they don't change, they just, no, they don't, they just change them out too often. - Yeah. - So anyway. - This is good. - Where are we going on score wise? - Quite delicious. It's very mellow, it's soft, very little bitterness anywhere front, middle or back. Good juicy flavors, kind of got that. Orange juice, orange cream sickle kind of. - Oh yeah. - Kind of mouth about it. - Yeah, definitely. - So I will go, I'm gonna go 93. I could drink this one a lot. This is good. - You know, I was bouncing back and forth between 93 and 92. I think I'm gonna go 93 as well. I mean, this is up there. - It's a winner, it's definitely a winner. - New trailer kind of an orbit from new trail brewing. - Yeah, they carry, I think just the regular hazy IPA at my local liquor store. And yeah, I've been going, I've been having that a lot lately. And it's, yeah, it's pretty good. You know, if you look on the side of the can here, it mentions the hops. It's pretty complex. Of course you've got citra. I mean, that's all I tasted initially. But you've got moteuaka, talis. You got one that's H3C586, which I imagine something like a hop that they invented in a lab somewhere. - Yeah, yeah. - And then amorillo and crystal. So yeah, some of my favorite hops for sure. But H, what is this, H3C586? I'm gonna have to look that up. And just do some research on what we're ingesting here. - It's not math, is it? (both laughing) - Or THC somehow? - Right. Oh man, that would be bad. I would, yeah, I could not do that. That would get me in trouble. - Yeah. Not that they do any testing in the events that I play, but I think technically those are typically frowned upon in my line of work as well. - Yeah, yeah. My day job definitely frowns upon it, more than frowns upon it. So. (both laughing) - But it's distinctly poo-poo-d. It is, it's big poo-poo. (both laughing) - Oh boy, where were we? I guess we're every fucking beer, you wanna talk all for? - Yeah, we can talk all, that's probably a good thing. - We're talking. - We talk food. How about this for, like, let me throw this one at ya. Are you into lobster? I mean, I think the answer is most people, come on. Yes, of course, right? - I mean, I don't eat lobster very often, but on occasion, sure. - So have you had, or do you have a favorite? Like, is Maine lobster your go-to or spiny, this Caribbean spiny lobster? Or are you not quite the conist? - I am a lobster, yeah. - I am a lobster roll kind of guy. - Yes, okay. Yeah, so I definitely, I'm a huge lobster roll kind of guy, especially when, like, I'm visiting my brother up in Boston, they've got those lobster rolls there. And I don't know why they can't make a good lobster roll outside of Boston, or outside of New England, but they can't, I have not had a good one. - No, it's true, that's absolutely true. And yeah, they put, like, there's this one place, I can't, I don't remember the name, near where my brother lives in Boston, that like, I mean, there's a good pound of lobster meat in this roll. I mean, it's just so packed. - Do you like it on the hot dog bun? - Yep, exactly, the split bun. Yeah, I mean, you know, something about, like the ones that I've had here, like, and there's actually a good restaurant in Baltimore called the Tain Street Oyster House. I don't know if you've ever been there. - I have not. - They've got the best one around, but it's still not as good as what you get up in New England. In any event, down there, in the Caribbean, they've got like a spiny, they can think they call it just a spiny lobster. And I had, I had not done much with like lobster in pasta sauce, but they have like a grill, it's like a grilled spiny tail lobster in a marinara sauce. So sort of like shrimp marinara, I guess, but with lobster. Oh my God, that thing was so good. That was probably my favorite thing I ate down there. - So there's this place we've gone to and we've gone up to Maine. I think it's Linda beans or Linda deans. I can't remember which one if it's a B or a D on the way up there. And I'll tell you what, the key is the sprinkling of dill on top. Oh my God, it just, it just sets it all off. It's so good. Oh, okay, now I want one. - I hear you. No, I know exactly what you're talking about. Now, have you ever had the lobster roll? Like, I know normally, like, when we think of lobster rolls here, we think of like the mayonnaise and, you know, but in Boston, it's pretty popular to actually have like a warm one where it's, the lobster means warm and then they pour like butter on it instead of the mayonnaise mixture. Have you ever had that? - Yep. - Very good. That was a pretty solid too, which I prefer. - Pretty good, yep. Totally with you. I just, I don't, I'm not gonna be picky on that one. - Yeah. I love, I love lobster. Lobster, lobster and tater tots. That's what I want lobster and tater tots for dinner now. - I had the tots today, but yeah. But not the lobster. All right. Well, you know, actually, you know who has good lobster tails is Wegmans, right? Across the street from second swing. They've got a four pack of pretty good size. I want to say they're at least six ounces each. So you get a four pack of six ounce lobster tails for 40 bucks. - Which, you know, that's, yeah, two of those and you're stuck, two of those and you're good to go. So yeah, you pick those up for Lorraine on the way home one evening. You'll be king of the castle. (laughing) - Yeah, I don't know about that. (laughing) - Yeah. All right. Are we, are we still, are we talking more food or are we going to golf? - Yeah, let's go to golf. - Okay. So tell me about this two man event at one of my favorite courses, Worthington Manor. - So the only reprieve that we've had in the last, I think nine days was on Thursday last week and it rained almost all the way down from where I am here in Harrisburg, all the way almost, you know, probably down to Frederick and then it stopped raining. Just enough for us to play this two man end of summer best ball. - Okay. So, cart path only. - Yeah. - We played it up everywhere because it was a sopping wet mess. - I'm sure. - Not a whole lot of roll on very many tee shots. (laughing) - Yep. - This was the first time I had played in three weeks and yeah, it was, yeah, I think it'd been, it'd been almost 20 days. So, a little two and a half weeks. And I had a great rest day. Like, the wrist was fantastic. From first practice swing to the last swing, I had no-- - It was nice. - So that's nice. It's not been like that since, but I just never know what I'm gonna wake up to with this thing. - Sure. - Yeah. So Ryan and I, we actually ended up playing by ourselves. It was just him and I. They had an odd number of participants and they figured that he and I were probably two of the more trustworthy and so they said-- (laughing) - Okay. - So, you know, it really moved pretty good for being cart path only and in a tournament setting. I thought the pace of play was actually pretty good. Neither of us played particularly well. - What was the format? - Best ball. - Best ball, okay. - Yup. So, I ended up shooting 71 and they were, they had some good pins, a lot of good pins. And they had some of the T boxes way back. They had a couple of the T boxes up. And so it still played long, you know. I hit it pretty decent for the most part. I hit a couple massive bomb drives. Like, even ones where I was like, wow, okay. So, picture number seven. - Yeah, sure, got it. - Okay, goes out and then goes down to the green. So we're all the way on the back T. - Okay. - At 43 yards left. - That's a big drive. That's a really big drive. - That was a big drive. - That's like 30. - Yeah, that was, I crushed that one. I ended up dumping it into the front bunker and made bogey. (laughing) - Yeah, 43 yards is not a very comfortable yardage for me at this point, especially in soft wet conditions. So, there was that. Picture number 14. - Yeah, yeah, the dog leg left. - Yeah, when you're looking back at the clubhouse. - Yeah. - So they had us up one T box. - Okay. - So I was dumping what? And I was pitching from a yard short of the green. - Wow, absolutely roasted. Like I hit that one and turned to Ryan and I was like, I probably shouldn't have swung that hard. (laughing) It was usually not such great things happen, but everything worked out on that one. He was right in front of the green, it was awesome. That one I did not dump anywhere. I didn't hit the best chip shot, but I did make birdie. So, that was a good one. So, I shot 71, made two crazy up and downs, the last two holes. Okay, 17, 235 yards, pins in its traditional. - Oh, they had you all the way back. - Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. - Okay. - So down in the lower left kind of hollow, you know, where they usually put it. I was surprised they didn't put it all the way on the back left corner, but I hit a kind of a pop flare hybrid and it was on the hillside. - Yeah. - And then opened it up and flopped it to two feet and made (laughing) - Oh, that's awesome. That's a great part. - Well, my partner three putted from the front of the green, so I needed to get up and down there. - Nope. (laughing) - Okay. - Yeah, so that one was good. And then I got up and down from like 20 yards short of the green in the right rough on 18. Pin was kind of front left corner. So, that was a really good, really good. You know, a couple shots really were just like, okay, this is good stuff. I'm happy with it. You know, dumping it in the bunker from 43 yards wasn't exactly, you know, the highlight of the day. Missed a couple of plots that I felt like I probably should have made. Yeah, yeah, some good, some bad. But overall, I felt like I hit it pretty good. Ryan really hit it, he hit it pretty good for the most part too. Just didn't quite score the way I'm expecting to see him score eventually. Like sure. I know he's better than he plays with me. And it's just kind of this running thing now. He's like, I never play good with you. (laughing) We gotta change that narrative 'cause I wanna see some of those 72's, three's and four's. - Well, Worthington's a tough course too. - It is. - It is. - Maybe you're playing with him at really challenging courses. - Yeah, I always end up taking in places that he didn't know. Like, I took him to PB Die, you know what that's like. I took him to Little Bennett, you know what that's like. - Yeah. - Yeah, I mean, all these places that he's never seen and their hard golf courses to begin with. And yeah, so it's mostly my fault. - Yeah. (laughing) - Yeah. - Wow, okay. - I'll take ownership of that. So we finished-- - It's a hot second in the growth division. - What was your score? - What was the growth score? - 70. - Okay. - So he helped you out. - He cut me a shot, he cut me a shot, yep. - All right. - So we, there were two teams tied at two under and we birdied, we both birdied number three. - Oh, wow. - Yeah, exactly. - That's incredible. - Hard as a whole, of course. - Yeah. - I still haven't found that fairway. I crushed one right up the middle and it just lands and this one kicked and it kicked dead left and into the left rough. Ryan actually hit one that hit the cart path right twice and bounded past that tree up on the corner. - Oh, yeah. - He had 128 left and he stuck it to three feet. - That was just perfect. - Then I hit mine to nine iron to about 18 feet and ran it in. So yeah, it was pretty hilarious. So that was the first playoff, scorecard playoff hole. So we ended up with second place. So we each got a $130 pro shop credit and I bought something that I really, really needed. I really needed a new jacket. - Oh, perfect. - I did not need a new jacket. I've got six million. But it's a really nice jacket. So, you know. - Ah, that's good, that's great. So could you have kept the credit for like green's fees? - Sure. - But you just wanted another jacket. - Oh yeah, yeah. Given the opportunity, I'm getting a jacket. - Yeah. Well, that sounds like a good time. - Yeah, it was fun. And I definitely enjoyed it. I'd still like, I love that place. It's such a good golf course. I really like it firm and fast. - Yeah, me too. - That's the way I like. I like most golf courses firm and fast. I want to see bully rock, firm and fast. - Yeah, that would be great. - It's never firm and fast. It is always soft, always. - That's all I feel about blue mash. I love like, if blue mash, if you get that firm and fast, I feel like some of those holes at the beginning that kind of kicked my butt 'cause they're so long would be so much more manageable. But it's always soft. They water that place like crazy, so. - The commissions are really good. I give everybody at Worthington Manor their all their ground screw, everybody mad props because considering how much rain we had going into that, the golf course was in excellent condition. - Right. - Yeah, so good. - Yeah, that's great. Well, any other golf, any other golf that you played? - That was it. - They ordered new signs though. - Okay, well, I played not this past weekend 'cause that I mentioned I was in Punta Cana in the sun. - There was a mention of the fact that you were somewhere that there was actual sunshine, yeah. - Yeah, so, but the weekend before, I played Latenceville and Little Bennett, your favorite place. - Mm. - And, so, yeah, yeah, I kind of sucked at Latenceville. I think I shot like an 85, but it was my first round in like over two weeks, hadn't picked up a club or anything 'cause I was just coming back from a bit of a back injury around my birthday weekend. - Mm. - Yeah, so the next, next to you Little Bennett, it started good. I like, I, it was smooth pars on the first couple of holes and then just disaster ensued. And I sucked for like, I don't know, holes, what, three through seven, I think I was like eight over par on that stretch, which is not good. And nor would you argue it is good. - Sounds like Little Bennett to me. - Yes, and that, of course, I knew like, there's one thing I have been playing Little, ever since you gave it up, I've actually picked it up as a habit as maybe a bit of a bad habit. I am convinced that if I can shoot a good score in the front nine and I did not this week, it was a 44, I am convinced though that if I can shoot a good score in that front nine, the back nine is there for the taken. And so I head to the backside and I think I parred the first like five holes, smooth pars, they all had birdie looks on all of them. Then I, then I, then I, it's just a three putt parade. Like I just couldn't, like, it was like I, I either leave it way short or it would run forever. I just couldn't figure out the speed on the greens and I just had a bunch of three putts coming in. I still shot a 39 on the way in, so, you know, 80, maybe 83 told? Yeah, so I mean, which is not bad at Little Bennett, but I'm telling you, it's almost like, like that's my little Bennett's my new Moby Dick. Like I need to take that course down. I, I need to, if I can get off to a strong start there, like I know, I know I can even par that backside. There's no doubt in my mind. I just think Little Bennett's just a dick. I don't think there's no Moby in there. I just don't want to have anything to do with it. Sorry. Yeah, I understand. I mean, it, like, and is it, what is it for you about? I know we talked about this before. Last time you mentioned that you said you're never playing there again. Is it, it's not just the greens, right? Like there's other aspects of the course that piss you off. Yeah, it's the fact that I like all the holes and they don't even attempt to like me back. It's like they, they find me somehow offensive and yeah. And they just, I mean, consistently I show up and most of the holes just come at me with their middle fingers raised in the air. So I'm just, I'm just not going to take that abuse. Sorry. Yeah. Yeah, I totally got it. It is like the people are so nice there. They're like genuinely super, super nice. And there's nothing that, nothing about the golf course that truly offends to me other than the way I get treated out there by the golf course. It is a unique, it is a very unique golf course. I can't think of one around that plays the mind games that that course can play with you. I, I like that's the type of course where when the greens are running fast and I've got like a downhill putt, it could be anywhere from, you know, eight feet, 10 feet. I'm legit concerned about three putting. Yeah, I mean, yep. So gotta stay below the hole on that course. That's for sure. So, indeed you do. Well, I am, I am not giving it up. And I want to, I want to take it down this fall. And, and now, you know, you got to, you got to agree. It is really pretty out there. Like if you catch it on a good fall day with the leaves turning. Just for all, and I've been out there on those beautiful days and yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So that's it for me as well, as, as well. I'm supposed to play Friday and at Needwood, which I'm a little concerned. It's going to be underwater still. Yeah, yeah. You probably want to go someplace that's going to like dry really rapidly. Like rattlewood, rattlewood's the best for that. Is it? Okay. It is rattlewood. I was thinking of worthy to manner, but rattlewood would be good too. Yeah. Does worthy to manner dry well, you think? I, I, I really think it does. Because considering all the rain we had, there was just not that much puddling out there at all. All right. Well, maybe I'll look into that. I'll look into one of those too. So well, that's. John will Sage is a great guy. Do you know John out there? He's the, he's the, the head over at Worthington. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That guy's awesome. He's super friendly. He's fantastic. Yeah. Such a good. Yeah. The people at work at Worthington are, they're the best. I think they're actually, they're, they're just as good as the people at Little Bennett. Yes. Yes. But I don't hate their golf course. And their golf course doesn't hate me. It took us a little while to get on the same page, but you know, we're, we're friends now. Yeah, I get it. And I'll tell you the thing, the thing about Worthington manner for me is you got to get past his first three holes. Yeah. If you get past his first three T shots, really. I think, I mean, and now that I fade, now that I'm a strictly a fader of the ball, like those T shots aren't as intimidating to me as they used to be. Yeah. I mean, one's a perfect fade hole. Two's a good fade hole. Though I'll tell you this on two. I hammered one off two T and I took it right over the, kind of right up the, the left side. Oh, yeah. It was the first time I've ever hit that fairway because it was, it was wet enough that the ball stopped. Ah, okay. But where they had the pin, I had to be very careful because the pin was back kind of left-ish. And if you missed, even a little bit left or short, it was going to run back down that hill on the left side. So I played it out about 35 feet. That's right. That's right. All right. So what do you want to talk about next? So we're going to go to the world and go off. You missed one thing that I, that I mentioned there right at the, right at the last before you started talking about, about your goal. I just ordered new irons. What, I did miss that. Did like, did, did, did your mic like stop working for a second? Nope. Nope. You ordered new irons. Yep. And I just skipped by that. Yep. Just a little bit. Well, in my defense, this, um, this new trail six orbit, hazy anniversary triple IPA is 10.6% alpha. Fair. That's right. Yeah. So, okay. New irons with the hack. Like, so I am making, I've, I've, I've been in the process of making a swing change. To accommodate my wrist. Okay. I feel like my golf swing's gotten long over the last couple of years as I've kind of been chasing distance a little bit. And I am, I'm working now to shorten it up. Okay. There's not as much wrist set at the top. And that seems to be helping. Interesting. I've only played one round now with it. So, and that one went pretty well. And it certainly hasn't hurt my, my, my ability to drive the ball either, which is great. Right. But, um, I, I'm a couple miles an hour slower than normal now. So I am switching from the CBMB combo cobra irons that I've been playing. Cobra is releasing a new set of, well, they're, they're releasing the CBMBs and their tour iron in black finish. So, I'm going to the tour iron in black. So, I'm hoping for a little tiny bit faster ball speed. See if I can't get my like four yards back. Okay. And same shafts going to stick with the steel fiber and 95 X's because I love the way they feel. But I'm going to go to bigger grips and softer grips to try to see if I can take a little more of that impact feel out of the wrist. Wow. Okay. So a little more, a little more cushion for the pushing and a little, a little more forgiveness in the head. And, all right, 14 year old Eddie just came out. Sorry. Golf is so dirty. So have you, have you actually like swung these clubs before? Or are you kind of like, is you putting some paint in it? I had a set of, of the tour irons at one point. And, um, I ended up switching out for the CBMBs just because, I don't know why, um, I guess I felt at one point like I needed to push myself a little bit more. And it was a good call at the time because the first event I played after, I made that switch. I won the PA open. So it was a good change. But the time, the time has come to make that switch again. Okay. Yeah. Awesome. So when did, when did they come in? They'll be here next week. Right in the bag immediately. 100% right in the bag. That's awesome. Wow. I'm excited. That'll be fun to see. Yeah. Yeah. I'm, I'm really psyched. I got some, uh, some new BB and F co-ferrals and I've got to take these things apart. Oh, that's right. Referal them. Oh, they're going to be sexy as hell. Nice. Yeah. Can't wait to see them. Yeah. Well, did, did you slip any other things into the show that I missed? Nope. That would be it. That would be it. Okay. So now, is there anything in the world of golf you like to talk about? Yeah. I don't know. Maybe the president's cup. Is that, is that some pretty entertaining? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I thought it was quite entertaining. Um, I didn't watch, I watched some of the first day where US team dominated. And then I didn't see any on, uh, the Friday when the European team dominated. And then I watched only a little tiny bit on Saturday and then I watched a bunch on Sunday. So it was, it was, it was going to be a blowout. Oh, then it was going to be tight. Then it was going to be, oh, this could be interesting. And then it got a little more blowy outy and then, you know, that watching the, the singles matches, there was a lot of red on the board. And then all of a sudden there was a lot of yellow on the board. And it, it really ended up being pretty compelling, pretty interesting though, that Keegan Bradley, our new Ryder cup captain, secured the winning point at the president's cup. Yeah, that is rich. By the way, Tom Kim's collapse. Got Keegan Bradley to 50th on the, uh, in the FedEx cup. And then he went out and won the next week. If Tom Kim hadn't imploded, he finished like bogey double double. All he needed to finish was bogey, bogey, bogey. And he, and he was right. If he hadn't done that, then Keegan wouldn't have gotten into the playoffs. Wouldn't have won and wouldn't have even been in the, the, uh, the president's cup. How about that for a bunch of coinky dinks? That, that is wild. Yeah, big, big winky being there. No doubt about it. Yeah, man. That's just trippy. How that all, how that all went down. So I, do you struggle at all with the concept of the president's cup? I, I kind of do. Like I, I understand like the Ryder cup with the US versus Europe. I, I kind of get that, but like the president's cup is the US versus the rest of the world, not excluding Europe. Yeah. It's kind of a weird, I don't, I don't quite get it. It is, it is. I mean, I like it. I think it would be more compelling if it was just, hey, we think we're the bees knees. We'll just take on everybody bringing it right. So you've got, you've got United States as best players against the best players across the planet. Right. Keep the Ryder cup. Keep the Ryder cup because that's just a nice little, you know, we used to be them kind of thing. And yeah, so yeah, we'll just, we'll do that. But, but then play everybody, right? Yeah, I guess I would be less opposed to that. That would make more sense. So just, it's just, I don't know. It's just, like I'm, I'm honestly, I used to really not even watch the Ryder cup. I'll watch it now. I'm somewhat intrigued. I think the rivalries and the, like I, I loved when, what was it? Rory almost got in a fight with Bones. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, that type of stuff, like that's fun. That's good. Like reality television. But yeah, the president's cup, I, I was, you know, I don't know if I mentioned this, but I was in Punta Con on this last weekend. So in the Dominican Republic, they don't watch golf evidently on TV because I looked for it and never found it. So it wasn't, it just wasn't on. So I didn't get to watch much, but I wasn't sad that I didn't get to watch it. And it was like, yeah, I probably, if I was at home, I probably wouldn't have watched much of it either. Yeah, team golf just doesn't do it for me. Okay. Well, I mean, I'm way more into Ryder cup and president's cup than I am. Anything that live golf is serving up. I'll give you that. I, have I mentioned that I could really care less or couldn't care less? Why is the expression I could care less? It's really should be I couldn't care less because I don't give a flying rats behind about anything that live golf does. I'm right there with you. Did you hear what's going on this week at the Alfred Dunhill in Scotland? All right. So first, this is my favorite European tour event of the year. And I'm obviously setting aside the open championship. I mean, that's the best. All right. But for the regular European tour, they, the Alfred Dunhill, they do around that car noose tea around at King's barns and around at the old course, the final round at the old course. So three of the best courses in the world. And so I, I, a lot of Americans go over there too. So it's a pretty, it's a, it's a stacked field normally. So they, but it's a pro am the first three days. Right. So, you know, people pay on godly amounts of money. So Jay Moynihan, the president of, or what is he? The CEO of the PGA tour, whatever his title is. Yeah. He's playing with the head of the live organization. And I'm forgetting his name off top of my head. Wiz Khalifa or something. I don't know what that was. Yeah. I don't think that's it, but I'm forgetting it. I'm forgetting his name off top of my head. Anyways, they're playing together and in the, in the program portion of this tournament. And there's rumors, and apparently Rory is starting to confirm some of these rumors, at least his understanding, is that we may finally have that deal. The one that we thought we were supposed to have before this year started. We may have the live PGA tour deal done by the end of the calendar year. We think about that. I'd be interested to see what the, and I think this is the big thing, period, is what is the way back for the guys that want to come back? Right. I think the most fair way to do it, honestly, is to throw them into second stage of Q school. They can play for it. Okay. They want to come back. They got to earn their way back. They've been playing a crappy ass tour with lots of cash, but no world ranking points. And, you know, right. Yeah. They want to come back to the tour. You got to earn your way back. Put Bryson and Q school. Put DJ at Q school. But genre on the Q school. Let them play for it. Yeah. Yeah. That's not a bad, that's not a bad suggestion. And then, well, so, you know, in addition to finding, you know, how do folks come back, and I like your idea there. It makes a lot of sense. What about what do you do to compensate those who didn't leave? Or are they not where, or are they not entitled to any compensation? Maybe they're clean conscience for not, you know, taking the money is reward enough. I think what they're seeing on tour now ought to be enough. Yeah. And the clean conscience. Yeah. All right. Well, I mean, the money that the PGA tour is throwing around right now is definitely highly influenced by what Liv did. And, you know, if there's been anything supposedly good to come out of what Liv was doing, it's that, you know, the PGA tour is reacted to it. Though, again, I'm going to tell you, these guys are way overpaid for what they're, for what they actually deliver. Oh, yeah. The viewership is not there. It's not the kind of money that they're paying for. It's just not. Well, yeah, and this is not English Premier League people. They are not getting that kind of viewership. Right. But I think, you see, I don't think it was ever about viewership, right? I think it's about. Well, that's the problem. Because that's the thing that's going to get them into trouble is that their product is not viable really the way they're going now. I don't think. Yeah. Well, but like it is viable so long as we are driving, you know, three ton SUVs that get 10 miles to the gallon because as long as as long as they've got money coming in, they've they can they can throw money at this type of thing to, you know, make their image look better on the world stage, which clearly is what I think live is about. I don't think live as a flying anything to do with. I think I think living the game, I think live can probably go on as long as it wants. Yeah, because because their whole thing was not about viewership. Right. Clearly because they haven't even been able to buy viewership. I agree. All of that money, they haven't been able to buy it because they're right. That's right. Yeah. PGA tour guys. Yeah. For what they are, are overpaid. And it's the PGA tour that's going to get itself into trouble. There's money in the Middle East. Holy crap. They're never going to run out, right? They're just not going to run out. Right. So I'm not worried about the viability of live golf. Unfortunately, it's, it can be around as long as it wants. However, the tour, the PGA tour, the real tour, real golf. Yeah. Played by real golfers. Yeah. That one worried. Well, and I, you know, I would imagine that whatever the deal is, is going to be lucrative enough for the PGA tour. That maybe they will never have to worry about my hands. Yeah, and that might, that might be the case. And if that is the case, then it's probably actually good for golf. Because, you know, assuring that we've, we've got it at least through my and your lifetime. Right. Yeah. That's, that's all I need, man. I need, I need to, I need to have something to watch. So. I hear you. I, I hear you. Still, I'm, I, I have moral objections to where the money is coming from. And for that reason, like, and I'll tell you, I, I, and again, I don't, you know, people can read these articles if they want to on their own, you know, Billy Horshel's, you know, a little bit like frustrated with Roy McElroy doing a bit of an about face on, on where the money's coming from. And, and nobody's more hypocritical here than Jay Moynihan. Right. I mean, he's the most, he's the biggest hypocrite of them all. He's the one who said, you know, nobody ever has to apologize for being on the PGA tour. And, and now here he is, you know, basically, you know, having a romance with something he said was despicable previously. So obviously, you know, he, he gets the hypocrite of the year award or decade or century award. It could, it could be any of those. The more I hear and listen to Billy Horshel, the more I like him. Yeah. His comments after, after beating Rory in the playoff two weeks ago. Yep. Primo. I mean, that's, that's just an, that's an individual who understands who he is, understands where he is, and has a depth of feeling and understanding that a lot of people don't. And I just really appreciate who he is and everything that I've been, been hearing about him and, and seeing from him. And that's, and that's cool. I want guys, I want guys that I want to root for, you know. Yeah, 100% agree. Because Rory is turning into Greg Norman. Greg Norman is the most screwed over golfer in history. Because if these guys in all these, in all the, the play times that, that Norman finished second, if they would just hit the green in regulation, Norman would have won, right? That's like, you know, Larry Mise chips in. Bob Tway holds out. Robert Gamm has holes out. It's like seriously? Are you that snake bit that this is going to happen to you? And Rory McElroy now, I mean, he's kind of done it to himself. He has not finished as well as he would like the last hole or the last two holes or the last three or four holes, but still Roy's, Roy is turning into, you know, captain number two. Yeah. Well, you know, I was taking one or finishing one. Yeah, he's captain number two. Yeah, I like what you did there. Thank you very much. But no, I will say like, I, I still, like, I, I, I think it's a, it is a very complex situation. And so like, I, I still give Rory a lot of respect for what he did initially. And if he's having in a bit of an about face, there, look, there is the argument that, yeah, the money comes from, you know, suspect sources, but would you rather have that money going to something like evil or going to golf, right? And, which I know some people will probably say is evil, but you and me certainly wouldn't be in that camp. So I understand, I understand it's very complicated. It's a very complicated moral issue. But I still can't get over the initial, like these people killed an American journalist and have done responsible for lots of atrocities for anybody who just lives the life that they want to live, be it gay or whatever that may be in their home country. And, and we're taking money and, and, and, and, but not, not we, not you and me. But, you know, the golf industry is, and, and it's unsavory to say the least. And I, and I can't get over that. And I never will get over that. And it really, like, depending on how this deal shakes out and where the money's coming from, it does put me in a funny situation of like, am I, like, how do I continue supporting the PGA tour if they're partnering with a country that I think does morally objectionable things. So that's, that's tough. That's a tough one. My response to that one is that we as a society are so deeply ingrained and. And run through with. All these other places that there's no. There's no getting around it. Like our, our, our daily lives are influenced by. Things that we don't want to be influenced by. I just don't think, I just don't think we can get away from it. So I find it, I find it hard to. I get where you're at. And I, I think the, the stand is, is, is righteous. But the problem is that no matter how you take a stand on it, it's. There's something else that, you know, that you interact with on a daily or weekly basis that's influenced by the same thing. Yeah. And that's, you know, my, my feeling about these guys that left for live, you know, I don't, I don't fault them for taking money. I definitely think that where the money comes from is not good. But at the same time, the backlash that they received for taking that money. Is unjust based on the fact that how are we as a, as a society going to have a bunch of golfers be the very sole moral compass of the entirety of our, of our culture, right? I mean, we're immersed in it all the time. We can't get around it. It doesn't mean that we shouldn't say we don't like it. It shouldn't say that we shouldn't stand up and, and, and shout from the rooftops that we don't appreciate it. We don't like it. We think it's wrong. But at the same time, the chances of us being able to put ourselves in a little cocoon and live through, you know, our entirety of, of lives without, you know, being influenced by those things is it's just, it's impossible. Yeah. Well, Kevin, I think it's very well said. And, and I get that perspective and maybe, maybe I'll, maybe I'll get there. What I'll get, I'll get there one day. Because you look, you know me, I am, I am a, I am a, I am a, a full-blown friend to the LGBTQ company company, sure. Oh, no, that, that, that's, that's sure it's a company somewhere. Yeah, right. People of color. Women, all the things that are, that are the most oppressed in, in this whole thing, you know. Yeah. So I'm, I'm completely with you. I'm totally with you. I just think that it's not worthless. I'm not telling you it's worthless. I'm just saying it's, it's hard to separate it all. So now you're, you're right. You're right. And, and, and look, there's, there's, like, I'm on my iPhone, which was made in China. Probably in a sweatshop for slave wages. And we know that China's regime is, um, is not pure. So, so I, like, I, I, I, you're right. I mean, I think there is, I think there is something, um, to be said for, like, the inevitability of participating in a world that is unjust at times. And we can't, like you said, build a cocoon and live within that. That being said, I do think it's incumbent. On people like you and me who see injustice to where we can. And, and I get where, you know, you and me in this country are somewhat privileged. Um, but, you know, where we can't to speak out against it. And what disappoints me about the professional golfers, the ones who are already gazillionaires, like to chase another 10 gazillion by leaving for the blood money, um, that to me is not morally ambiguous. That's just like, that, that it's disgusting. And, but, but, but I, but again, I totally, I totally get your point. Um, and I, and I think there's some truth to what we're both saying here. I think we're kind of, we're, we're both, you know, we're both in search of, of finding a better, you know, way to do things and, and should be, yeah. So, but, um, but maybe this is, is this the deep? Is this the 10.6% alcohol coming out in us? So this is like the deepest. We're like so far removed now from like beer and golf, like traditional golf conversation that I think we've ever gotten to. Yeah, quite possibly. So, um, yeah, I mean, it was a, it was a golf tangent. It was a golf tangent and a good one to have a good, a good conversation. And it was, I mean, it's, it's a, it's easier when you have two people that are of basically the same mind talking things out. Right. Rather than two people on opposite ends who more than likely just end up throwing their phones at each other. Um, well, and I think, I mean, I think you're exactly right there. And I think, like, let's be clear. Like, even though maybe you, like you certainly understand why people took the money and look, neither one of us are in that situation where we confront her, but that situation. So I can't, I can't say that I wouldn't have. Um, but you know, the fact is, I think there's a lot of them. They don't, like none of this entered their mind. I, I think a lot of people are like, Hey, I like the only thing to enter your mind was, Oh, if I take this money, I can't play it. Like the Arnold, Arnold, the Bay Hill invitational. It had nothing to do with the morality of it. I think a lot of people who like just took the money. They're just like, Hey, this is great. I'm set for life now. And I got entered like, you know, so, you know, I do, I, I think it's probably, that's probably the case for most of them, right? I don't think there were that many people that struggled with the decision. And then ultimately decided to go. I think it's people didn't struggle. I actually think there was, I think there were some, some moral dilemmas amongst those who, who did go later, right? And I would certainly like to, like to think that the one that I feel was Harold Varner, the third, because he came out and he was, he was the only guy of the entire group that came out and said, you know what, you know, they came to me. We talked this thing out. They put a number in front of me and I got to thinking about it. And honestly, you know, I don't know what my life is going to be like on the PGA tour. I've been playing good. You know, what's going to happen? This was money that set my entire family up for generations. Right. And like, I, I, I consider myself a reasonably moral thinking kind of individual. I probably would have done same thing. Mm-hmm, sure. Given that opportunity. I mean, I don't, I don't come from a whole lot, right? I've, I've had it better than a lot of people. But I certainly don't never had the silver spoon, right? So, you know, being able to be in a position where nothing was ever going to be a worry again would be, would be amazing. It would be incredible. Yeah. You know, so, but I'm just a club fitter. So, you know, nobody's, nobody's knocking down my door to try to give me blood money. So it's all good. Yeah. Understood. And I agree. I mean, I, you know, there are people like Harrovarna that I think are very thoughtful. And, and he was honest. He was, he was one of the few that said I did it for the money. And I appreciate that a lot. And versus those that are like, oh, I'm going to grow the game by taking 400 million dollars. Like, give me a break. Yeah. Yeah. Good luck with that. Yeah. Good luck with that product growing the game. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Well, hey, we're, we've been spinning our wheels on this for some time. So, what do you, what do you, anything else you want to talk about in the world of golf? Um, no, that beer was really good though. That was really, it was really darn good. It really was good. All right. Well, I guess, is that a show? Is that it's a show? Okay. Like it or not. It's a show. We'll leave it to the listeners to tell us whether they liked it or not. I have a, I have a feeling, I have a feeling that the last 20 minutes is like, there's going to be people that are going to be saying, Eddie, like, get off your soapbox. Yes, folks, you, you know, don't want to get into the, the more ass of it. You know, turn this off 20 minutes before you get to this point. All right, should we put a, should we put a, uh, parental advisory explicit, explicit lyrics on this one? I mean, there wasn't any swearing other than you mentioning your ass and me calling, me calling, uh, a little Bennett a dick. No, I'm perfectly so too, by the way. Of course, is a dick. No, I think we're still good. I don't think we need to do the parental advisory unless you want me to. If you want me to, I'll do it. Warning, um, semi political views, yeah, starting at, you know, 48 minutes or something like that. I love it. All right. I'll do something with that. Well, Kevin, enjoy it as always. Hey, if you are still, yeah, if you are still listening, um, I would like you to, you know, please check us out at, uh, what the golf podcast on Instagram. And you can also email us like questions, your swing videos. Uh, you can send that to whatthegolfpodcast@gmail.com. Please visit our friends chasing ACEs golf at chasingaceasgolf.com and check them out on Instagram, also at chasing ACEs golf. And, um, yeah, I, I, I think with that, Kevin, I think you ready to read us out? Sure thing. Hey, look, you know, golf is wet right now. At least in this board portion of the country, it's wet right now, um, which in a lot of respects is going to make it a little bit more difficult. But, uh, you know, golf is hard anyway. And, uh, it's also a game when we are supposed to be having fun at this thing. I know sometimes it's really difficult, but we should be having fun. So, look, if we're not, if we're not having fun, we're either just not doing this thing, right? Or we are just simply not drinking enough food trail, sixth orbit triple IPA. This was a good one, folks. So get yourself out and see if you can't find some new trail. Good stuff. All right. And, uh, we'll be back soon. I can't say necessarily next week. Eddie and I have been, uh, you know, the, the schedules, you know, they've just been not lining up. So, uh, once we have something interesting to report, we will get back to you all. All right. Thanks for listening. We will see you soon. Cheers. Cheers. [Music]
