Kalaroga Shock Media Hey there, fellow travelers! This is Journey Joe Mitchell, and you're listening to Travel Is Back, your guide to the best destinations and experiences for regular folks like you and me. Today, we're embarking on a journey that's truly out of this world, as we explore some of the most famous and infamous UFO hotspots and alien-themed attractions across the United States. Now, whether you're a die-hard believer in extraterrestrial life, or just someone looking for a unique travel experience, these destinations offer something for everyone. So buckle up, keep your eyes on the skies, and let's blast off into our alien adventure. Our first stop has to be Roswell, New Mexico, the granddaddy of all UFO destinations. This small town shot to fame in 1947 when a mysterious object crashed on a nearby ranch, sparking decades of conspiracy theories and alien lore. Here's what you can't miss in Roswell, the International UFO Museum and Research Center. This is Ground Zero for all things extraterrestrial in Roswell. The museum covers the famous 1947 incident in detail, and houses a vast collection of UFO-related exhibits. It's a great place to start your alien adventure and get some context for the town's obsession with otherworldly visitors. For a deeper dive into the local lore, book a guided tour. These tours will take you to key locations related to the 1947 incident, including the alleged crash site. If you can, plan your visit around the first week of July when Roswell goes all out with its UFO festival. Expect costume contests, alien parades, and guest lectures from UFO researchers. Remember, folks, Roswell fully embraces its alien identity, so don't be surprised to see little green men everywhere. On street corners, in shop windows, and even on the local McDonald's, which is shaped like a flying saucer. Next up, we're heading to Nevada to explore the area around the infamous Area 51. Now, I need to be clear, Area 51 itself is a highly classified United States Air Force facility, and you absolutely cannot visit it. But the surrounding area has become a mecca for UFO enthusiasts and conspiracy theorists. Here's what you can explore, the extraterrestrial highway. This 98-mile stretch of Nevada State Route 375 got its nickname due to numerous UFO sightings in the area. It's a scenic drive through the desert with several quirky alien-themed stops along the way. Little Ailey Inn in Rachel. This tiny town is the closest you can get to Area 51. The little Ailey Inn is part restaurant, part gift shop, and part unofficial UFO information center. It's a great place to grab a bite, pick up some alien souvenirs, and chat with fellow enthusiasts. The Area 51 Ailey Inn Center, located in Amargosa Valley, this combo gas station, alien-themed gift shop and diner, is a popular stop for tourists. Don't miss the giant alien statue out front. It's a great photo op, the National Atomic Testing Museum. While not strictly alien-related, this Las Vegas Museum has an Area 51 myth or reality exhibit that's worth checking out. It offers a more grounded historical perspective on the secretive base. Remember, the area around Area 51 is remote desert terrain. Make sure your vehicle is in good condition, you have plenty of water and snacks, and you respect all no trespassing signs. The truth may be out there, but it's not worth getting arrested over. Our next destination takes us to the red rocks of Sedona, Arizona. While Sedona is known for its stunning landscapes and new age spirituality, it's also a hotspot for UFO sightings and believers in extraterrestrial visitations. Here's what to check out in Sedona. Several companies offer nighttime UFO watching tours. These tours take you out to dark sky locations where guides use night vision goggles to help spot strange lights in the sky. Sedona is famous for its vortexes, areas of concentrated spiritual and metaphysical energy. While not directly related to aliens, many believers think these vortexes might be connected to extraterrestrial activity. Popular vortex sites include Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock, and Airport Mesa. Chapel of the Holy Cross. This stunning church built into the red rocks is an alien themed, but its unique architecture has led some to claim it was inspired by, or even built by, extraterrestrials. Try the Sedona Heritage Museum. For a more grounded perspective, visit this museum to learn about the area's history, including its long relationship with Hollywood and Western films. Whether or not you spot a UFO, Sedona's breathtaking scenery and unique atmosphere make it a worthy addition to any southwest road trip. What's Next? Listen to this message from Ted Delacath, former Army Infantryman and Ranger-qualified platoon leader active in the Army Reserves. When I enlisted in the Army, I sworn oath to this country, not any political party. That's why I'm interested in citizens' ballot measures around the country to reduce the power of political parties. Colorado votes on 1-2. Right now, election rules allow political insiders to hand-pick party nominees. It's the reason we're usually stuck voting for the lesser of two evils. Colorado's plan creates an open primary where all candidates appear on one primary ballot. Every voter has the freedom to vote for any candidate, no matter which party. The Colorado plan advances four candidates to the general election, not two. That means more choices for voters in the primary and general election. Get the facts. Elections belong to the voters, not political parties. Paid for by veterans for all voters, Anthony Haas registered agent. The use of military rank and job titles does not implant endorsement by the Department of the Army or the Department of Defense of this ballot measure. Let's head up to the Evergreen Forest of Washington State, where we find a lesser known but fascinating UFO hotspot called the M Triangle or MEL's Triangle. Named after researcher Mel Waters, this area near Mount Rainier has been the site of numerous UFO sightings and strange occurrences. Here's what you can explore. The Enlightened Contact with Extraterrestrial Intelligence Ranch offers CE-5, close encounters of the fifth-kind experiences. They host regular sky-watching events and claim to use meditation to make contact with extraterrestrial beings. Mount Rainier National Park This stunning national park is not only a natural wonder, but also the site of the famous Kenneth Arnold UFO sighting in 1947, which kicked off the modern UFO era. Trout Lake is a small town near the Ecedi Ranch embraces its connection to UFO lore. It's a great base for exploring the area and chatting with locals about their experiences. Mount Adams is another beautiful natural attraction. Mount Adams is often mentioned in local UFO sightings. You can hike or simply admire it from afar. Remember, this area is known for its natural beauty as much as its UFO activity, so even if you don't spot any alien craft, you're sure to have a great outdoor adventure. Before we wrap up, I want to mention one more destination for the dedicated UFO tourist, Kicksburg, Pennsylvania. Often called the other Roswell, Kicksburg was the site of a mysterious incident in 1965, when an acorn-shaped object reportedly crashed in the woods. If you're in the area, check out the Kicksburg UFO Monument, a full-size replica of the alleged craft sits in the middle of town, making for a great photo op. The Kicksburg Volunteer Fire Department houses a small museum dedicated to the incident and sells UFO-themed merchandise to raise funds. While Kicksburg might not warrant a special trip on its own, it's an interesting stop if you're traveling through Pennsylvania. Well, fellow travelers, we've covered a lot of ground and maybe even some space on this extraterrestrial tour of America. Whether you believe in aliens or not, these destinations offer unique experiences that combine natural beauty, local history, and the enduring human fascination with the unknown. Remember, the best part of these UFO-themed trips isn't necessarily spotting something in the sky. It's the fun of the hunt, the quirky attractions, and the interesting people you'll meet along the way. Who knows? Maybe you'll come back a believer.
