The Kent Non-League Football Podcast
Kent Non-League Podcast - Episode 308

Another packed show as we reflect on a successful SCEFL Groundhop and a busy weekend elsewhere in the pyramid - and preview two huge FA Cup ties. The Groundhop kicked off with a 3-0 win for Rusthall at Snodland, and Rustics boss Jimmy Anderson reflects on his side's win and clean sheet, and reveals the home truths that helped spark that win. We chose Snodland defender Tyler Hatton as their man of the match in the loss and the Maidstone youngster tells us all about his experience in the SCEFL so far, the benefits of playing men's football and his hope for an upturn in form. Cray Valley PM beat Ramsgate to progress in the FA Trophy and Millers boss Steve McKimm discusses that victory and their fine start to life at Step 3. Rams manager Ben Smith admits his side came up short in that clash, but is ready to focus on the league and looks ahead to a big game against Sheppey United this weekend. There's all the rest of the news from across the pyramid and the usual chat and nonsense, including nightclubs, school dinners, Slow Horses and the end of the banana saga.

(upbeat music) - On this week's show, the end of a winless run to kick off the ground up in style, we're here from Rustle Lost, Jimmy Anderson. - There's a long, long season ahead of this. We know the quality was within the squad. A couple of other managers have pointed out and they've crashed them over where we're up for a fight and I felt like the boys showed that tonight that we wanted a reaction. - Disappointment for Snobland in that defeat to Rustle, but on loan defender Tyler Hutton is enjoying his time at the club. - Just 'cause you're at a high club, it doesn't mean that you're any better just sitting on the bench wasting away, sitting in the crowd wasting away else and you need to be out getting game time under your belt. - A fine start to life at step three and into the next round of the trophy. Could Steve McKim and Craig Valley go all the way? - I've told these boys that there's plenty of clubs unexpectedly onto Wembley. - And it's all focused on the Israeli South East now for Ramsdape. We have a boss, Ben Smith, after the FA Trophy exit. - When you're playing, when you put the two good sides, it's like a chess game. And yeah, I thought we didn't adapt our faces picking up on the second half. (upbeat music) - Hello everyone and welcome to this week's episode of the Kenroley podcast sponsored by Sandwich Town Youth FC. It's been another fascinating week in the county with the hugely successful ground hop completed. It's been good progress in the FA Trophy and lots more besides. And that's before we consider the two blockbossing FA Cup tyres this weekend. Anyway, before that, we've got four institutes in the last weekend's fun and games, which we hope you will enjoy. I'm sure it's such a dust off a computer not used for a year for this week's show due to my laptop being a family. Sorry, no, my laptop needs a new fan. And on the line now is a man who stayed late in the office to do this week's show. Never has a man been so innocent about staying late at work. Is of course, Matt Gerard, how are you, mate? - Not bad. One of the reasons why, 'cause I didn't like meeting, 'cause I want to watch slow horses, but early today. 'Cause the wife's going out tomorrow. And if we did the pod late, she'd probably say, "I'm going to bed," so I'd miss out. So that's one of the reasons I'm doing it. So I thought a little bit earlier, well, six o'clock over the evening, that I can watch slow horses. And first of all, have you caught up with slow horses? Or are you watching it in Big One, Big Bang? - No, I think we're three episodes in. So we've kind of lost our way. We started it, we were really good, but we've been so busy that we've not had a chance to sort of keep abreast of it and keep watching it every now and then. So I'm hoping there'll be a chance to watch on maybe this weekend that we might get it finished this weekend, 'cause I'm actually off all weekend for a change. So hopefully we'll get it finished this weekend, 'cause it is bloody good, isn't it? - Yeah, I wanted to watch it, because people at work will be talking about it and I feel I'm missed out, so yeah. So that's one of the reasons I've stayed late at work. Only the cleaner for company. Shout out to Michael to clean out. And yeah, so that apart from that. So, all I know was at football last night as well, so I haven't really seen the wife for a while, for the last 24, all the kids, 'cause I was in and out yesterday, so then we pleased to see me when I get home finally. But after you got apart, John, so. - Well, were they merely? - No, well, I said to, we took the dog out this morning. I said, "Oh, the kids are right, it's there." Yeah, yeah. Our youngest daughter, I saw for approximately two minutes while she had a dinner and she went upstairs, and that was it. So again, I don't think if I didn't come home for a week, she probably wouldn't come downstairs unless she had to. So there you go, no, no, no, no, no, no, age, basically. And I keep, I keep, she texts me, "I've got a rollerkin, because where's my lunch?" Oh, so I put it in the porch. So of course, she hasn't taken her lunch, she's left it in the porch. So I get a rollerkin for not putting it in her bag. And so you don't think, "Oh, for goodness sake." And the problem is, she seems to speak, 'cause you have to put it on a card for the lunch, she probably said before. I'm sure little Johnny says, "I've forgotten my lunch." And she puts her hands up, and basically pays for everybody else's lunch, 'cause I'm constantly having to put money on her card. So that's the problem with the kids. So there you go. - That's the problem. - Mother, Mother, Father, Father. Father, Mother, Mother, Mother, Mother, Mother, Mother. - Yeah, coming soon, breaking things. - Yeah, yeah, exactly. - Yeah. We do have an update on our sponsors, so I'm just telling you to have a seat and it's a little bit of an update. They're five games into the season. They've lost to Hyde and Kennington. They did then beat Herm Bay Harriers slash Margate and Whitisham and found a bit of form and confidence. Big step up, step up to Division I of the East Kent Youth Sunday League. Lots of teams now building for next season in the Kent Youth League under 13s. So most teams full of players who are really strong. This Sunday, they're hosting Whitfield Juniors at 1 p.m. at the Butt in Sandwich. And our sponsor Nick Cunningham hasn't played this down at all, basically the Man City of the League. Not in monetary terms, but players outstanding. Every player plays to the district teams. Every five games scored 40 goals, conceded one. Definitely underdogs this Sunday. They're trying to see how many buses they can park on the pitch to help. So if you do have a bus and you could take it down one o'clock on Sunday in the sandwich area, Nick Cunningham will be very grateful to see it and put it in front of the goal to avoid them from suffering and defeat. But that's a positive start in a big step up, Matt. - Yeah, Whitfield Juniors, I know, 'cause we're never at Dover. Whitfield Juniors, the kids do the sort of waving the flags and the ballboys and we're talking to these. And these kids, I always ask the player, "What position do you play?" That's why I said, "I reckon you're a striker." And I think Whitfield Juniors said to me, "Oh yeah, we win every game at 8-0." So I'm like, "Okay, you must be good these kids as well." They've all got the slick back sort of football with a haircut these kids. So yeah, be a big game. For Nick, but that's what it's all about, you know, if you just try and grow into the season. So they're getting around, high than Kennington, so it's good to see, but they're at that standard down to 13 so when it comes a little bit more, I think probably full pitches. So, again, what hurts you? Can I only make you better, isn't it? We'll sack phrase, John? I've lost my word, then. - Well, it doesn't kill you, makes you stronger? - Well, that's it, that's the one. So good luck with it. I don't know, I've got a hot kitchen on, Skype, sports and cheap drinks at the butt. So if you are looking for some football and maybe to see the Manchester City of the future, maybe some England players in the future pop down there, but we'll look forward to seeing the text from Nick next week, say how it goes. So, five games scored, 40 goals. Could be an interesting one. - I can't believe Kelly Clarkson's song isn't ingrained on your mind, Matt, or it doesn't kill you, makes you stronger, right? I was more of Taylor Swift and Kelly Clarkson. - Oh, dear. I've got some news. - Well, yeah. - We went to a nightclub on Saturday, Matt. - Oh my goodness. - I didn't even think nightclubs would exist in any more. - I know, but we went to a nightclub. - Where was this? - In Eastbourne, so-- - It wasn't called the House of Commons, is it? - No, no, no. We went to Joy Bar, which is just over the road from our favourite pub. And basically, we were all set for a big night in Eastbourne with the fireworks. The fireworks got cancelled 'cause of the wind. So we stayed in the pub and drank more, and drank more, and kept drinking. And then it was suggested that we go to the nightclub, and I was fully up for this suggestion as well. So we went to the nightclub, had some drinks, had a couple of drinks, watched the cool kids. - What was the average age? - Not as young as you were thinking, actually. Maybe we weren't at the most hip and happening spot in Eastbourne, I don't really know. But yeah, we weren't, we didn't stand out, shall we say. There were young people in there, and there were older people in there. So a nice mix, the music was dreadful though. - Is the House of Lords still there? - Right, Club. - Do you ever heard of House of Lords? - I don't think so, no. I don't think so. - I remember, sort of music that they played this club before I get onto my House of Lords story 'cause it probably, yeah, carry on. - Well, it was an odd mix of music. It was very strange, but one thing I will, it was mainly sort of dance and all the stuff that you kind of remember from being in the club over the past few years and stuff. But when we got there, they played the Fat Man Scoop song. And when we were in there, they played the Fat Man Scoop song. So I don't know if that- - What's the Fat Man Scoop song? - The one about the crookling clan. If you got a hundred dollar bill, put your hand on it. - Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. - I mean, they're so short of music in these places, they played that twice. I know the fella's just died, but that's a bit of a tribute for him, is it's played twice in such a short space of time. - Was that his only his hip, wasn't it? - Wait a minute, I'll remember that one now. So yeah, going back to my story. So, did they come, wake up on Eileen? Anything like that? - No, you could, you've gone to the DJ and say, play E.L.O. or something. Do you reckon he looks at his computer and says, "I don't know who they are." - I think we'd have been laughed out of the place to be honest. It was a sort of, that wasn't the vibe. It was more sort of dancey, rappy. Yeah, that sort of stuff. There was a break, did a really good card trick though, that was good. Enjoyed that. - Did you feel old? 'Cause remember that days, when you used to go to nightclubs at 18, and there was always like a 30 year old in there, did you feel like that person? - No, I didn't. I felt good about myself. I was, I felt empowered, and I felt that there was no barriers to me at 43 going to a nightclub. So I feel good about myself now. - Was it a carpet or was it proper flooring? 'Cause that's always sticky. I think it was flooring. I mean, I've had quite a lot to drink, and we didn't want to just sit down. But do you know what? I bought a bottle of lager, a gin and tonic, and two shots of zambooka, and got a change from 20 quid. So that's not bad. - That's not bad. - Yeah, that's not bad. - I was expecting to have to like re-mortgage the flap to buy around the drinks like that, but I've got away with it, so. Anyway, tell me about the house a little bit. - I'm cricket till before I got back with my wife. We went on a cricket till when our team went down. It was the first one. And it was an Eastborn, funnily enough. We played at Polegate and everything. And on this tour, there was 11 of us went, 10 players, old, in the House of Lords Nightclub. Men. And there was, at age, I was, it was 2001, 2001, or 2000. It's a 23 years ago, so I was what, 26, 27. But there was people double by age at that time. So when you mentioned the 10, were you the one? - No, no, no, no, no, we, we, yeah, we had great fun. It was one of these things, you didn't go to bed. Cricket, it was great. After that was the best cricket tour. After that was all crap, after that. But there was one, yeah, one bloke. The people were married in various bits and pieces. Everybody, it was just like wandering around after the night club, and then you'll see people coming out of alleys and things with a cricket tour. And so, yeah, again, different times in the early 2000s, but yeah, 10 out of the 11th pool, and there was people older than, yeah, so, I don't, yeah. It was a great cricket tour at the East Pole, but then the net following you in East Pole, somebody got glass that we never went back. That's a different story. - Yeah, that would take the shine off, it wouldn't it? - Yeah, so there you go. - It's our 308th episode this week, and that led me to another Peugeot. How have they made so many cars? With such a lack of imagination for names. As well as the 0.308 Winchester, which is a smoke-cryst powder rimness bottle neck rifle cartridge widely used for hunting, target shooting, police, military, and personal protection applications globally. Chiffel stuff, as ever, that one. And with what everything's going in the world, do we really want to go out guns? No, let's not, let's talk about non-leaf football instead. We will start this week with the Skiffle Groundhop, which was a huge success once again. Almost 2,000 people attended the six games, and those who attended all six or 18 goals with three home wins and three away wins. A great effort from all involved, and we were delighted to be a part of it, with huge thanks to Snoddling Town for the hospitality on Friday night. It was, however, a shame for the town as they've been three-nil by Rustall. They've invited me back after another home defeat. I'm not sure how welcome I'll be again in the future. That win was just a second of the league season for Rustall, though, and took them off the bottom of the table. And in truth, they were well worth it. I felt when I caught up with the Rustics boss, Jimmy Anderson. - We had a little heart-to-heart, I suppose, in the change room last week, away to Holland and Blair, where we lost two-nil. We said kind of, it's not really panic. Panic stations as of yet. It was a long, long season ahead of us. We know the quality was within the squad. A couple of other managers have pointed out, and they've questioned whether we're up for a fight, and I felt like the boys showed that tonight. We wanted a reaction. We felt like in certain games this season. Even though we've lost them, we've dropped points. When we've dominated the game. Like, with all the VOs and stuff like that now, you can get stats. And we feel like we've just haven't taken our chances all. When we've been on top, goals change games, obviously. And when we've been on top, we haven't changed games. We haven't scored the goal. Other teams have scored goals against this. And ultimately, we've gone in a bit of a shot. - Tonight you've come out, you've hit the ground running, you really fast start, got your goal, and you really never look back. - Yeah, I think we scored after nine minutes, and I felt like we had two chances before that. I felt like we could have been three and a half after nine minutes. And we were going up the slope. We wanted to do that. We wanted the slope in the second half. We wanted more pressure on the boys. In a sense, can we answer the questions if they want to use the slope, then yeah, let's tackle it first half. We didn't want an easy pattern, so yeah. - And all three of you guys, I thought we were pretty well taken, you know, the first goal, and Fatick finished the second goal, really covered finish from Charlie, and then a lovely free header from a corner. - Yeah, so obviously, Kalani, who scored the first goal. Young lad, he's had to wait his time. Well, he was playing pre-season, he was electric, and then started the season, he went in a bit of a shell, and we kind of been putting him on a bench, putting him on a bench. We had a guy out in during the week at training and said, the ability you've got, he can beat a man at ease, and he did that today, and he ran himself into the ground. That's why we had to take him off five minutes into the second half. - I thought he was excellent, as you say, the pace that he showed, and then that's the number one commodity, isn't it? When you've got the pace, and you know how to use it, and that's what we had. - Yeah, especially uphill, as well. Snobdland are obviously a good side, they've beat some good teams. They're mid-table, like we said, it's a long season to go, but I felt like if it was five, six, seven, you know, tonight, I don't think they could have minded about anything. I can't remember serving my keeper, making an outstanding save. I feel like their keeper had a busy game. The defenders were scared a lot of the game, so yeah, I'm really pleased with the boys, but look, it means three points. That's all it means, I don't know. That's what everyone says, but that's all it is. - But it is a confidence thing, isn't it? - 100% - We've got 10 games with our wins, to get one. You've got to be on card nine tonight. - 100%, 100%, a lot of work has gone into it. More so like chat, V.O. work, not shaping stuff like that. And I just, I question the character of certain individuals as well as a group. We've got a lot of players, I'll be honest with you, I'll probably don't realise even my own supporters. Louis, my right back, whole last season out. Had to have knee surgery. Smudge on my captain, send him a field. Whole last season out, knee injury. Yassin, knee injury, whole last season. We've just brought Louis Clark back to the club. Try and get him fit, as I know, would he really well? I'm grateful that he's given us the opportunity, but like, you saw tonight, he needs to work on his fitness, and that will come, I mean, he's a confidence boy, so we'll try and get the best out of him. Stebman's carrying an injury. We've got quality amongst the squad. It's just now the boys need to knuckle down, take game by game, and who knows where we're. - And keep believing. - Yeah, that's all it is. That's all it is. But the clean sheet's massive today. I'll be honest with you, you said about a win. I'm more proud of the clean sheet. I can't remember a clean sheet what we've kept up with us all, 'cause it's always, I'll be honest with you all. My style of play, everyone knows it. I want to play football. It's an open game we give people an opportunity. We didn't tonight, so I'm more proud of that. - 400 people have come in tonight. It's the start of the ground, Tarpon. - Yeah. - But those people who don't know anything, probably might not have even heard of Russell before, but you've given them something that they'll remember. - Oh, 100%, and it was great. I thought it was an entertaining game on a Friday night. I thought it was really good. Like you said, all of these people have come down. I'm sure they'll be looking forward to the games over the weekend, if that's the standard of the league. - And I suppose for you as well, you're placing to thrive in front of the big crowds, 'cause you do very well when you play somebody else, and now you've done it again tonight. - Yeah, yeah, I like to find a show for a certain time, but look, we go like, it's mad, but if Kalani doesn't score after nine minutes, and we let them into the game, that's the way the season's been. We took our opportunities today. We scored early, we worked off of that, like we built off of it. And yeah, like you say, I'm delighted. We now got a tough game on Saturday, and we've got Fabishing in the Cup. Look, they are what they are, they're a great side. We have to go there with a game plan, but then we've got Homestyle, I think, in the league. Another great side, but they drew three-three with Snoblin. I don't know, you may be able to tell me, I don't know what managers were here tonight. I'm sure there was a few watching both teams. So, yeah, great, bring it on. - And just finally, you've mentioned it a bit there, but it's grand off, it's great, isn't it? - Oh, fantastic, fantastic. It's great for clubs, as a money maker, it's great for the opportunity of people wherever they come from, to come and witness the level is this league, the quality of the league, the quality of the players. I honestly believe that this step five league is the best up and down the country. They'll witness that throughout the whole weekend, but, yeah, fantastic by Snoblin. They've won a great show today with, obviously, they're really accommodating in everything they've done. Like, even where they put you in the car park and stuff like that, it's been fantastic. So, thank you very much. - Very honest there, Matt, as Jimmy always is, actually, about how disappointed he'd been with the start of the season. I'm sure he's hoping that that win can be a catalyst for an upturning fall. - Yeah, he started happy there after that win. I think he was a relieved man after the performance. I didn't realise how low they were in the league a little bit. So, I suppose all I think of Russell is their big rivalry with Tom, which well. So, again, the form hasn't been great of late, but well deserved winners then, John, weren't they? - Definitely, yeah. I thought they came out of the blocks really quickly, as I said to him there, you know, and they got that early goal, and they never looked back. And I thought it was interesting when he said, you know, if we hadn't scored that early, then let them get into the game, then it might have been different. But I think that once they got one, the confidence was there, and we were kind of stood down down the bottom of the slopes. And the first half, we were snogged and were attacking towards us. And most of the actions at the far end, to be honest. But despite going up the slope, Russell just cope well with it and put pressure on, and they were creating chances. And as he said there, they probably could have won by more. And the thing is, is you look at their squad, the team that they had out on Friday night. Of course, good players there. You know, Charlie Cloe is a very good player. They've got Stephen Kunder, wasn't there. He's injured, but he's a very good player. You know, there's quality in that team. There's goals in that team. And it's all just about confidence and belief. And he has said that mentally, they've been struggling with the side of the game. He's given his players a bit of a talking to about that side of things. And I think that now they've got that win, their second one in the season. Now, the win at Whitstable right at the start of the season. That's going to push them on, surely. Not ideal to plan fabulous from this weekend in the Kent Senior trophy. But they will know now that they can go to some tough places in this league and get a result. Yeah, again, in front of a big crowd as well, which I think is a good sign for them. I think it must be difficult for these managers when you, you know, you feel you should be doing a little bit better. You're working in there. Maybe the luck's not been with you. But going there in front of nearly 400 people can give them a bit of confidence. Yeah, it's quite, you know, there are a little bit of drift at the bottom, but if they can do that, maybe get a win at home as well. That will be interesting if they can get on to that as well. That will be the push on they need to go through. So, as most importantly, Todd, Stoddler looked after you. I saw the pictures on social media. Did they get wine and dine you as the basketball sponsor? I might have done so. We were the match sponsors. Yeah, we had a voucher to get free drinks from the bar and anything we wanted from the burger van, which we took them up on. And then so naive were we that we didn't actually realize there was a spread on our off time that we could have gotten that in the clubhouse as well. We were just the three of us. I went with Trevor and Matt, another Matt. And we were just having a good old chin wag about non-league football, really. And we didn't realize that we were missing out on all this extra food. But do you know what? The people at Stoddler were absolutely delight. They were really friendly, really welcoming. There was a nice little line about us in the programme as well, Matt. Yeah, it was nice and it was nice to be part of it. And of course, if there's any other clubs out there that want to give us this opportunity, I'm more than interested to come along and take part. And that, but yeah, the people that we came across were all really, really friendly. And a real pride, actually, in what they do at the club. And from chatting to a couple of people there, the first team's important, but it's not the be or an end all. It's almost a vehicle for everything else that goes on behind the scenes at the club. And everything, all the youth teams that they've got. And I think in the end, the official tennis was 395, but they did kind of say, just after we'd tally it up, some more turned up. So they reckon they squeaked over the 400. And I suppose the only disappointment for them, Matt, is that they didn't win. Because, you know, when you've got a big crowd in, you want to get a result, don't you? Yeah, do they have to sort of bid for these games? Or do they say, oh, we would have been part of this? Or how does it work? Do you know how it works? Are they get it or why were they chosen? I don't know how it works. All I know is obviously that the three games on Saturday, and the two on the Sunday, they tried to keep them quite close together, don't they? I guess there must be a conversation of would you be happy to play on the Friday night? And things like that, it's obviously logistics coming to the Saturday and Sunday games. You know, when you've got games at 11, three and seven, they can't be too far apart. So I guess that's how it works. But it's just, you know what, it's such a great initiative. And, you know, it's really, really good to see so many people coming down. There was a busload of people who come to watch every single game. People come far and wide for this sort of thing. Is there a ground-hop day every month in different counties? Obviously, there probably is. Yeah, there's loads of them up and down the country across the season. So ours has fallen in this weekend in October. And it just seems to be, you know, there's sometimes, I think there's one in Sussex coming up that they have them all over the place. So, you know, it's a good thing to be part of. And, you know, the important thing is, I suppose one thing that does factor into it is the organizers of this want to make sure they're going to different places. So I guess once you've had one home game, you might not get another one for a few years in the ground-hop with that make sense, you know, 'cause I think part of the very nature of the ground-hoppers is they want to go to different grounds and see different teams and everything like that. So I guess, you know, it is all about making sure that you've got places close to each other and getting them in. But I'm sure next year, they'll probably look to go to places that they didn't go to this season. So, you know, it may be a case of, maybe they'll go to Rostow and Tomridge Wells. You never know they'll have a good two to pair together, obviously, 'cause they're very close proximity. But no, it's just such a fantastic thing. And as I said to Jimmy there, you know, there's people there who've probably never even heard of Rostow, turned up, watched the game of football and will have gone away thinking, "Oh, they're good." - People who are entertained, and I think that's absolutely fantastic that this event goes on. And you say, particularly 2,000 people, sort of six games, and he puts Skefle on the map as well. And I'd love to speak to somebody there, you know, you Trevor's, you know, he's other side as well. And the Skefle highly rated is one of the toughest divisions at this level as well. And it'd be interesting to speak to some people who go to these events if they think that's the case. - Yeah, absolutely. If it's not done, as we said, it's frustrating night. And it's part of our match on to sponsorship. I, along with my trusty lieutenants Trevor and the other Matt, had to choose the man of the match. All three of us were kind of hoping it would be an easy job. But in a three-year-old home defeat, it's not the easiest choice in the world. But unanimously, in the end, we plunked for a young defender, Tyler Hatton, as the star man for the home side. Not only did it earn the cultured centre-backer prize but the online mate's domain also got the honour of speaking to me. So here is Snodland Town's Tyler Hatton. - I really just wanted to do fair. Like, it's harsh on us and the lads, 'cause from the start, we did not start right at all. And I'm trying to get the team up for it, but we just couldn't find our way into this game for some reason, I don't know. But I do think towards the end, I was giving it all we had, but some games just don't come through. - Against the team at the bottom of the league and I guess beforehand, we've had a lot of confidence, but they came out really quickly. And as you say, you had a bit of a slow start and it was uphill from there. - Yeah, exactly that. Obviously, with every team in this league, you can never treat anyone as, just 'cause the table says they're on no team or ever, that worse than any other. If you turn up on the day, you'll beat any team in this league and that's just the way it is. So we commented again very mindful of the fact that we could get beat today, but we also should be winning, but some things just don't go your way on the day, I guess. - And generally speaking, I suppose it's been frustrating because I was here when we played VCD a few weeks ago and looked like a decent side and that was also something going your way. - Yeah, exactly that. To be fair, against VCD, I thought it was a very good side and especially against Punjab on Tuesday night, I thought we absolutely dominated them for 45 minutes. We just, I think we're just lacking a little bit in that end product, like we need to back ourselves to have a little shot, have a little dig. So then we can cause the keeper problems, as today we didn't really have that in us to just someone go right, you know what, I'm gonna do it, and then everyone get round them. - I suppose for a centre-off, that's frustrating when you see things, you know, you're playing the ball out and anything like that and it's not coming off up the front. - Yeah, exactly, obviously, it's hard on the day, like obviously the pitch obviously is a variable, the crowds are variable, so there's a lot of people there, so it's just all in total, it's just, yeah, it wasn't really good enough for us tonight. - Make some friends tonight, singing your name all the way through, I don't think they're Snodlin fans though. - No, no, no, no. Yeah, they do like me though, yeah, don't know why. You personally, you're from Maystone Online, is that right? - Yeah, that's it. - How are you finding the scaffold? - Yeah, obviously it's a different in standard, just the tempo of the game I'd say, I'll say this is a little bit slower, but within physicality and battles on that, I think you're finding more battles on that in within this league, so it's, then both leagues have two different things to offer, but yeah, and I really enjoy my time here in the scaffold, loving it. - For you as a young player, is it important to come and play proper men's football? - Yeah, obviously, that's the main thing, obviously you don't wanna be, just 'cause you're at a high club, but it doesn't mean that you're any better just sitting on the bench, wasting away, sitting in the crowd, wasting away, obviously you need to be out, getting game time under your belt, so then you can always improve. - I suppose, feel good practice still at Mainstone, after last year's Cup exploits? - Oh yeah, obviously, it was a lot, a lot of, well, I don't even know where to start about it, obviously, 'cause that's where I made my first debut from Maystone, and they're staying in town, and the whole FA Cup run was just a dream come true, to be honest, yeah, it was a good time with the lads. - Great experience. - And the thing is, you know what happens in your career, you've always got those memories. - Yeah, 100%, yeah, it was so good, but obviously, things are in the past now, now I have to just focus on my game now, and just look forward to pursuing my career, wherever it is. - Cheers tonight, you've got a fabulous year, and our show comes out after that, you've got a Cup game next weekend, it's important that you get a win on the board soon, isn't it? - Oh, 100%, yeah, all of us know, we'll be in there, all of us kicking ourselves, saying that that is not good enough, and Tuesday night will be out better and stronger, and we're looking to obviously get three points, and that's the only option for us really at this point. - And I suppose, just generally speaking, this is a great place to come and play football, isn't it? - Yeah, yeah, obviously, the lads are so welcoming, obviously, coming as a loan as a youngster, always daunting, but all the lads have been really good, and to be fair, yeah, I'm enjoying the football, when we get it playing, to be fair, we're quite untouchable, but it's just, the building up to get into that, and then just having the confidence to back yourself during the game, but yeah, it's good. - Spoke well there, the young man, and an interesting point in his career, I suppose, man, it's always interesting to hear that perspective of the benefit of playing men's football for a young man like him. - I thought you spoke very well, I didn't know he was on it again, Mason had got a number of players, a good academy, a couple of them have gone to Hyde recently, clearly he's had some game time, gone to Snodland to learn his trade, against some seasoned pros who've played at this level for a long time, and it can only benefit his game. A young centre half, John, you thought, what made him stand out for you for Snodland? - I think obviously they were on the back foot quite a bit, and I think, you know, we were kind of looking at players who were getting in there and doing things, and he got in the way a couple of times, made some good blocks and good challenges, and when he got the ball, he looked to play it out from the back, he left footed, I thought he was, we both, we all thought he was a pretty good talent, actually, and, you know, we didn't necessarily realise that the time that he was on loan from Maidstone, until later on in the piece, but we all looked and thought, he has stood out with someone who played really well, and we kind of spoke to the guys there as well, and said, do you agree with us? And they were like, yeah, he said a good game. So, yeah, it was just one of those where I thought he looked the part, actually, and I think that's a big thing for it, and on another day, you know, that first goal doesn't go in, he could have been part of a winning team there, and he would have more than played his part, 'cause he, you know, he was very solid at the back, and did look to get forward and make things happen from the back. So, yeah, just thought he played well, basically. - Yeah, look at the league table, it's not only the one that game, but it's quite tight in the middle of the table. They could have jumped up to sort of top 10 as well, so it's quite a tight division, so it'll be disappointed. That'll be, they probably didn't get their result in front of the big crowd, but time to bounce back this weekend, I suppose. I suppose we go back into the cup, you mentioned the cup now, is there a lot of cup games coming up in this division now again? - Well, it's the Kent senior trophy this weekend, which kicks off. And I guess it's not the Skefel's fault, but it would have been nice after the success of the Groundhopper International weekend, so we've had a full programme of league fixtures coming up. But then these games are, you know, they're big games of Kent senior trophy. Even at this stage, it's probably got more on it than the Kent senior cup, if that makes sense, because there will be any team in the Skefel, we think they've got a chance of winning it. You look last year, the finals between Eryth and Corden division one. So it does just show that, you know, it's wide open, Punjabi United won it, the year before every team is going into it on Saturday. We'll think they've got a chance of going deep into the competition. And that makes it exciting, actually. I view the first round of the Kent senior trophy with a lot more seriousness than I do the Kent senior cup with all due respect. - Well, yeah, I think you've been to the final a couple of times, John. A lot of these compsides will be really hoping that they can get a cup running, try and pick up a bit of trophy. Again, you expect this to decide that the top end of the table will be looking to do well, but I think it's a competition that has a lot, a lot, as I say, a lot more clarity and quality than the Kent senior cup. So good luck to some of our sides. And Rustle, Faversham, back-to-back games against Faversham, it's going to be tough for them. But again, Faversham and my rest of you players, they've got a big squad. - Yeah, I think the thing is, is you look at Eryth town last season, who won the Skiffel Challenge Cup and the Kent senior trophy and went on to in promotion. So these cup competitions are not the be-all-end-all for your league campaign. So I think that's, you know, they're a good example to look back at. So, you know, very, very interesting to see how it all goes. Snodling were beaten by just a solitary goal and choosing that when they hosted Faversham, a result which closed the gap at the top for the really, well, it's the five points up to both. They, and leaders, VCD Athletic, had one as part of the weekend extravaganza. Faversham 3-1 winners at Fisher before VCD beat Larkfield and only had 2-1 in a 7-p-m kick-off. The Grandhoppers had also seen 2-ting veteran 2-1 running VP in the first division of Saturday. Well, Sunday's game saw a 2-1 victory for Corinthon against Irrit and Belvedere, the perfect birthday present for their manager and a 2-0 success for Sutton Athletic over Tumbred Worlds. The rest of Skefall, Premier Division results on Saturday saw Beers to beat Holmes and Blair 5-2. Glee continued their good runner form with a 3-1 whenever Lordwood was 2-2 between Holmes and Kennington. Stansfield 2-1 winners at Lidtown and Punjab United are still unbeaten after their 2-1 win at Whitstool. In the first of it, it's incredibly tight at the top with just four points between the top six and what seems to be a change of leader every single week. As we speak, Croydon at the top of the table after their 4-1 whenever Sheppy Sports, while Fabbish and Strike Falls have eaten 2-1 home by Rochester, also in the mix at the top of their Academy City, drew 1-1 with Brydon ropes, and Staper is monarchs who were 3-1 winners at Greenways, but Forest Hill Park can return to top spot if they beat FCM said this evening, Wednesday night, whilst Saturday's other games saw Wellington get their first win of the season with the 2-1 success halls athletic, and they are in action as well on Wednesday night when they take on Sol Tower Hamlets. At four games in that division on Saturday, Brydon ropes home to captain community, FCM said against Sheppy Sports. Sol Tower Hamlets against Meridian VP and 2-1 Beck against Hall's Athletic, and for the rest, as we've just mentioned, it's the Kent Senior trophy first round. The action starts on Friday night when Canterbury has wistable. For on Saturday, it's Beresley against Kennington. VCD athletic go to Croydon, Fabbish and against Russell, as we've already heard. It's Fisher against Corinthian, Forest Hill Park, Coast, Stansfeld, Gleeb take on Lewis and Barra. It's Greenways against Fabbish and Strike Falls. Holland's a player at home to Homestale. Larkfield on New Hyde take on West Wickham. It's Minster against Lid Town. Snodling against Sporting Club Thames Mead. Stapeless Munciness, Rochester United. Welling Town against Sutton Athletic and Tumbred Wells against Irith and Belvedere. And then there's one Skefal Premier Division game on Tuesday night as well, as Hollands and Blair hosts Corinthian. As we say Matt, these are important games actually for the teams, certainly in the Premier division, we'll think they've got a chance. And you look and you think some of these teams, Snodland could use a home win, you know, and they've got a team in the Lid in the division below. So they'd like to get a result there and obviously Russell would like to build on their four Collins and Blair could use a win. There's lots of interesting ties there actually. Yeah, I think there is some interesting ties. As you mentioned, mostly Canterbury against Wistable. Wistable, wait, no, I'm gonna, or start to the season. Can't be any less once. Local Derby, I think that will be an interesting game. Yeah, I think there is interesting ones. I feel a bit guilty, John, because now that the Skefal is on football web page, I don't really go to the Skefal website. 'Cause, you know, I was at the game last night, I could get up on football web pages, latest score from the Skefal League one and lead two. And I feel sorry for them, 'cause I know the website is a really good site for Skefal, but try and get football web pages down. So when you're at game, you can get the scores at a touch of a button, a little bit guilty. So give up the good work on the website, but going on football web pages, fantastic. Yeah, of course, that country-wistable game is at Margate on Friday night. Well, where can to be ground sharing. But a bit of a feast of football, actually, at Margate over the weekend, because Margate are home themselves on Saturday afternoon, and that minster against lead game is at seven o'clock on Saturday night as well. At Hartstown Park, certainly makes it a little round. It's a little thing, then, isn't it? It's a little ground hop. Yeah, without even leaving the same ground. Yeah, that's fantastic. What terrible season they're having. Yeah, I know, well, in the bottom two, obviously lots of changes going on behind the scenes as well. It's got poor to leave and stuff. And with the players that they've got, and have just signed Trevor McCready as well, haven't they? They should be higher up the table than they are, but they're going to have to pick up some results, aren't they? Yeah, definitely. I don't realise how bad it is. And what we'll discuss is going in the next few weeks. Is it a three-horse race now? Absolutely, we will look into that. Let's go up to the Isman League now with the biggest game. Was in FA Trophy, a tie between last year's Southeast top two, as Ramsgate hosted Cray Valley. The Millers, of course, won the war last season by winning that title, and after the Rams play a fix it, now a win for them would have been class as an upset. But with some key Rams men rested for the game, it wasn't to be as three goals in the open half an hour set of visitors on the way to a 3-1 win. That's played to both matches after the game, starting with Cray Valley, Steve McKib. Yep, very, very comfortable, I think. In a way that I knew what we were going to expect from Ramsgate. We had a couple of players out, meaning Danny at a play centre off. But I knew what was going to get from them. They're a good side, pass the ball well. But once you stop that, I think that we basically capitalise on their mistakes. Let's get it right, they made some mistakes, and we punished them, which was good for us. But I think they only have one real shot on our goal. We done our own work on them very thoroughly, and we didn't take it lightly, just because we're a league above. Sometimes you have to do even harder analysis on them. And I thought we'd done well. I thought we'd done well at times when we had a break. We broke, scored our goals, and I thought it was quite a comfortable afternoon, to be honest with you. You exploited those mistakes from a manage point of view. You must be really pleased with that. Yeah, you've got to. If someone's going to give you a chance, you've got to take it. We took them chances when they come along, and that ultimately puts in control of the game three-nil. Disappointed with the goal we conceded, which gives them a bit of a lift just before half time. But then we spoke to them at half time about how we're going to stop them, and let's get right towards the end. Well, not even towards the end, start the second half. They like to play out. We ended up nullifying that, and they end up going along from the back, and we hit that up, and when we got it, let's get it right. We had two or three good chances, maybe four in the second half to put the game to bed. Yeah, I thought your game management, particularly in the second half, you'd expect rain was going to, maybe start going at you, but they didn't really attach you at all, I didn't think, because I think one chance of the whole second half. Yeah, exactly. And let's say we should have killed the game off well before that. You know, we had three or four really good chances to put it at bed. When you don't do that, we was here last year at two, Neil, and they come back in injury time and got two goals. So you're always a bit wary, but like I said, the way the back four, makeshift back four, by the way, dealt with erring thrown at them. I thought it was very good. This competition, I don't cry, have done well in the vase. It's a little sister competition. How important is this one for? It takes a long time before the bigger clubs come into it, so to speak. Yeah, it does. We got to the second round last year and got comfortably beat by Hampton and Richmond that were a very good side. We just see what the draw comes in front of us. I've told these boys that there's plenty of clubs unexpectedly gone to Wembley. You can the islands from years gone by Jeff King and seems like that. I think the National League now is so put up on getting back into the football league that a lot of them, apart from Bromley, a lot of them don't put their first sides out. And even then, their second string should be good enough anyway to beat a step-free side. But when you come up against sides like that, if their focus is more on the league, they might still have half an eye, not really interested, and that's when you can capitalize. So, there's a long, long way to go. We're excited to be in the hat for Monday, which in every cup competition you want to be, whether it's this, the kink cup, the FA cup, and we've got through a hard place to come, long journey for all the boys. And I'd like to say, I thought it was quite a relatively comfortable afternoon for us. I had a couple of players missing, don't get me wrong, but I still felt our game management, as you alluded to, was spot on. And the boys didn't have to go and get the next goal. When it come along, if they got it, it was great. I had to keep a clean sheet, which we did, and we won the game off that. How far do you think the season's gone so far for you this season? And the jump up, have you noticed it? Yeah, only in terms of you don't get it your own way. You can't physically overpower teams in terms of pace and power no more. Everyone's at it. Very rarely do you get more than the one goal difference in that league. And anyone can beat anyone. And for us, as I said to the owners the other day, for us to rub shoulders in the top seven, with Billericki, Dartford, Dover, Dulwich, you know, we were five years ago, we were Kent Leakside. Now we're at step three, rubbing shoulders. We've established national, national, south sides. You know, you've got to pinch yourself. And all we're going to do is keep maintaining what we do, keep our work ethic right, and try and win games of football each week. It's not always going to go our way, but what we'll do, we'll keep going and going and going until we get it right. You've kept a lot aside from last season, you know, some managers change it, you've kept them. And you felt those players could jump up. I felt it was important to start with because it was a new league. You bring five, six, seven players in. They've then got to adapt and understand how you plan what you want to do. These boys knew it from the off, and they took it like a duck to the wall. The first half of Dartford was probably the worst we've played. Then after that, we kicked in a gear and we done well, won the next couple. So all in all, it's been a good start for us. We can be better, we need to be better in certain areas at certain times, but that there today was our first 90 minutes where I can say we've basically done what they've been asked to do from not 45 and 45 to 90. And like I say, it ends up getting your results. Last week we played for the second 45, rather than the first 45, and we got nothing out of it. So you play for 90 minutes, you've got to have a chance to win the game. And I'm very pleased with the start so far and never get carried away with myself in terms of if we'd won this game, we could be here. We are where we are. We will be at the end of the season where we deserve to be. But these boys have got a great work ethic, good bunch of lads, play some good football, but we don't get any credit for it at times. And like I say, it just can move stronger and stronger for the season. Absolutely, thrill if they're not in the league as well, Matt. They hit back from 4-2 to grab a point that can be Ireland. And as Steve McKim said there, they made a pretty strong start to life at step 3. I think, excellent. I think they were well worthy winners at the weekend as well. I think Steve McKim has done a really good job at Gray Valley. Again, it's interesting what he said about that. Do you think the same squad hasn't taken with it, lost Lisbon, of course. But they played really well, got some good plays for Eddie Parker, been on the bench a bit, he's a handful up front. Ramsgate planned it out for the back, we'll talk about them in a moment. But it's just exploited to the mistakes that Ramsgate did with clinical finishing. And second half, Ramsgate came, I'm expecting Ramsgate to throw the sink in. Didn't just tell them at bay a really good performance. And I think they're growing as a club into this division. And as he said there, only a couple of years ago, that were three years before, four or five years ago, they were only at Kent Leakside, or Skefelside. So really good, and he's done a really good job there, Steve McKim. And other clubs must be looking at him thinking, you know, what he can do at Gray Valley, which I presume is a low budget, that what he could do with a bigger budget, with the players he's got, because they've got some good players there. Figo, I really like it, that the young winger from Charlton, solid players in there, and knew him in midfield. And Danny Waldron, you know, he's probably nearly as old as me, but he still rolls out, plays at half. He's like a Rolls Royce at his ace, so yeah, really pleased. They treated it seriously, I think, Gray Valley. I'm not saying Ramsgate didn't, but they made many changes. But Crave sort of played the main side, deserved to win. And I think, yeah, they exploited Ramsgate. And he wasn't, you know, I think he was delighted that, you know, he beat them as well after last year to sort of confirm it, that maybe they've got a bit of Indian sign over them. And he did say in there as well, didn't he? You know, I've said to the players in there, teams lower than us have got to Wembley, and some of the National League teams, as he said, don't take it that seriously. So if you get a couple of favourable draws, and you are a very good side as Crave Valley can be, they could go deep into this competition, couldn't they? Because there's no reason why they can't string some results together and actually cause teams problems. You know, they drew a chart on last year, and there's no reason why, if they were to get a National League South team, they could not cause an upset. Well, I think Ave, because they're away from, as Nigel Welling said to me, they're away from, I'm believable. I think they've lost two in about 30, 35. So they are a good side, they're a cup side. And whatever games, if Steve McKim was probably playing till he rings with his kids, he'll want to win, and he'll run that into those players. And I'm sure they'll basically be told, yeah, basically, why not? We can win matches, we can go forward and do this. So, yeah, good manager, Steve McKim, solid guy, doing a fantastic job at Crave Valley. So he's been there, what, 15, 16 months, and you know, the way they've gone, and the way they've worked as a club is a real credit to him. I think he's just been able to come in and take them to the next level, isn't he? Cause Kevin Watson did a great job there, getting them out of the skiffle. I think it was, it was when we were doing the radio show, so was it 2019? Yeah. We got to the Vals final, didn't they? And they got promoted the same season. And then they were in and around the playoffs, and then obviously Kevin Watson left, and it looked like they might stagnate a little bit, but to go out there and get Steve McKim was a really bold move by them. And, you know, we talk a lot about Steve and what a nice guy is of him, but he wouldn't have just gone to Crave Valley unless he believed that they could succeed and move up the pyramid. And he's got them out of strep for it the first time of asking. And now, as you said there, they're mixing it with the likes of Dartford and Dover, and that's phenomenal for a club of the size of Crave Valley to have made that impression in their first season, step three, hats off to him, but also hats off to the people behind the scenes at the club who got him in and have facilitated him building a pretty formidable team. He's a good manager, you know, he's done it at Cambridge. He's done it, Karl Shorten didn't work out for him, come back into Kent. He uses players, he's walked home, beer came in, he's used it in before. I think, again, like some of the managers we've seen, you want to play for Steve McKim. If you don't do your work, you're in trouble. But if you do and work hard, you're going to do OK. And I think they should be absolutely delighted with the start to the season they've had. And look at some of the sides in that division, punching above their weight, and some of the sides that have got promoted and sides around them, I think they must be absolutely delighted with that. So, nine games, 14 points. I think it's a really good turn around for them, so far. Certainly, it's for Ramsgate, though, the F.O. Trophy, clean on top priority. And now they can focus on their number one aim of getting out of step four, as their boss, Ben Smith, he explained to Matt. That's obviously just getting minutes in, everyone's under everyone's belts. Yeah, similar rotations, what we've done in all the games, really. Obviously, left TJ out today. Out of squad, obviously, a couple of lads started last week and started today. Yeah, so it was getting minutes under the belts, which we did, but yeah, that's no excuse. Yeah, we weren't good, nothing certain, certain phases are going today. - Yeah, I think we disappointed. You gave away the first two goals with poor passing, and I've exploited that. - Yeah, I mean, I didn't have to do a lot to explore it, did they? Yeah, I thought we started really well. So I thought we started really well. They can quite get to grips with us while we were playing out. And then you give them that, and then as the game, as the game were on, they dealt with, sorry, they pressed really well. And we didn't find solutions to that, and I think the quote is doing the same thing over and over again with the expecting difference outcome is insanity. And that's pretty much what we witnessed there. Yeah, it's a tough one, it's certainly, I'm not gonna sort of hound the two players that have made those mistakes, because the way we play, we've got at some point you're gonna make a mistake, and would have a lot more good days playing the way we play. So yeah, it's just a bit disappointing, because it just gives you a mounting to climb. And against good opposition, you're three-nil down, you're not likely to go and get four goals. You can't be expecting score four goals in the game. - If I got the grand back before, just before half time, we disappointed you didn't really move views out as an advance in the second half, 'cause I thought, "Cray, how would you "a pretty much advance, how would you back at that point?" - Yeah, I mean, I'll give them credit in the second half, they changed their press, and we then didn't adapt to it, which is the disappointing thing from my end, like that we're never gonna win the trophy. It's never been a priority, I've said that since day one, so it's not really a... - So look, we've went for revenge today after last season, winning this game? - Not even now, it's literally, it's preparing us moving forward. No animosity with Steve, et cetera. They were guys, and as I said before, we'd come out the wrong side of the two, all the three. It's, you know, that happens, that's football. So yeah, it was none of that, it was more a case of, right, okay, these would be a team that would be right up there in our league. So, yeah, we're working on things we can, obviously, replicate and take into our league games. You know, there's been a quite lengthy inquest there and at the end with the players and, you know, listening to all sorts of views. And yeah, there's just certain aspects we've got to be better. That's it, really, it's no... You know, it's no, yeah, it's not the end of the world today, but you lose a game of football, and you're never going to be up here, and the players are definitely not happy. You've got out the cup now, which means priority is the league, and the league has been good, you've 100% record in the league, you've got Sheppy coming up next week, you've got an 100% record, so everything is now on the league, and that's been your main objective since you've been in the club. Get Ramsgate out of this division. Yeah, you know, we beat Sheppy earlier in the season in this competition, actually. We were heavily rotated sides, so, you know, we're going to the game of confidence. Yeah, we took a little bit of a knock today, but, yeah, we are full of belief, and it's not, yeah, it's not head-chins on the floor, it's more a case of not scratching our heads, but just players trying to understand how certain things were, you know, how certain solutions weren't found in certain moments. That's, that's, it's like a chess game, isn't it? When you're playing, when you put, it's two good sides, it's like a chess game, and, yeah, I thought we, we didn't move our pieces and adapt our pieces, quick enough in the second half. Talking back to the league, you think it's going to be a last year, it was a two-horse race? You expecting more sides to come involved this year, or you think you've got enough quality in that squad to be at the top again, I know, but you think other teams can, it's going to be a really tight race again? It's, it's hard to tell, isn't it? Because you had teams that that, you know, teams I would have said at the start would be up there, you know, I've, I've called Burgess all the last couple of years, and they've been miles off it, and I've called them again, I thought, pretty season, I thought they're, you know, looking like they could be a strong side, and never started very well. I think they won today, though. You expected me Ken dominated, do you? I, I, I still, I, it's two early days, so I'd, I'd expect, I'd expect Burgess Hill to be up there, and then it's sitting ball, and a few kentsides, isn't it? So, we'll see how we go. But again, yourself, you're enjoying it back at the club. Again, it's been a bit of a disappointment running the cup the last couple of weeks, but now, full focus, fully focused on the league. Yeah, I mean, yeah, last, last week's result was, was a, it was a, yeah, it was a bizarre result, considering the game of football we played. Today, I can't say that. Two bad mistakes, but we weren't good enough. Last week, we were good enough to go and talk to team to two divisions higher, to at least a replay, and we didn't get that, and people look at result, and I've, well, you know, they got, they got battered up there. Right. Yeah, it definitely wasn't that type of game. So, that wasn't a disappointment. Again, many clubs would be very happy with the run we had in the FA Cup. Many clubs would be very happy this, you know, this is one lesson we got last year, last year was the records they had in the trophy as a club. So, yeah, we, we expect more, you know, in the standards we set are more and higher, an ambition is higher, et cetera. So, you know, we lose a game, it, it feels like the end of the world, and we lose a game, everyone's talking about it. So, you know, that is where it is. Yeah, we just move on to the next game. Obviously, we've got a few players come back in, which is good, obviously, Lee Martin was suspended today. So, yeah, so we're, we're down today, more a case of planning moving forward. Not their finest work on Saturday, Matt, but by and large, he's happy with their starts of the season and what a game in prospect on Saturday, and should be united. Yeah, I think, yeah, they didn't treat it. Do they treat it? They treated it seriously, that's the thing, but they rested a few players, T. James and Ahmad didn't play, basically four out of five on the bench would have been players regularly. So, I think last year they didn't particularly take it. So, they went out to Ramsgate, I think, up to hide in the game down there, because the FA Cup game was coming. So, I think, yeah, bigger fish to fry. And now, all they've got to concentrate on is, is the basically the league. And they know in the league over the last two seasons, they've probably won 85 to 90 percent of the game. So, there are probably the side to beat. They've won all five games in the league. They've got a strong squad. Ben will be desperate to get them out of this division by winning the league. I don't think that Ramsgate want to go through the blast after the heartache of last year. I'm the year before. I'm the year before, yeah. So, we had two years, so I should say. Yeah, I think on that basis, and again, in some ways, I admire how he wants to play football, but it didn't really work about the press from Cray, given the ball away in silly situations, and they were exploited. So, and maybe you wouldn't get some of the size doing that, but it's an interesting game against Shepherd Street. Of course, they've got out the can see neck up, the FA Cup, and the trophy in the space of 10 days, I think Ramsgate now, but concentrate on the league. They've won five out of five. Yeah, it's a big few months now for Ramsgate. He looks a very competitive division this year. Big games against Margate at Christmas as well. So, exciting times, have they got it in the locker to go up? They've got a goal score, you can score them goals, but I think it's gonna be more than just two teams this division. I expect Ramsgate to be up there. Have they got enough? We'll just have to wait and see. Yeah, I think they've made a good start in the league. I mean, Ben, we know from industry to have a Ben before, the league is Ben's number one priority there. He wants to get them out of this division, which they've got the capabilities to do that. As you say, he's a tough division there. Some other good teams floating around there as well that are gonna be a challenge for them. And I suppose the thing for them is they've got to learn from last season and not make the mistakes that they made last season. And I say the mistakes they made last season. They barely put a foot wrong last season. And that's the thing that's hard. And what I will say is absolute massive credit to Ben because he left the club. He came back, the recruitment was affected by his departure without a shadow of a doubt. Things were difficult. And at the start of the season, I remember I think we had a conversation on here saying, you know, I can't see that they're gonna make a really good start, but they've come into it. It got to the FA Cup third qualifying rounds and gave by all accounts, practically a really good game, even though they lost four one. They've won every league game that played so far. Ben Smith is doing something incredible there to keep them that motivated and to bounce back. Because the hardest thing to do is to bounce back from such disappointment. And the disappointment that they had last season was phenomenally huge, but they've gone out there. They've won every league game. And that's full credit to the players, but also full credit to Ben, who's got in there, he knows how to motivate a team of footballers. You know, I reckon I probably could, he could probably make me into a better footballer than I am, I reckon. And I think that that's a massive thing because when you've had that disappointment, it's how you bounce back. And so far, so very good. - Yeah, again, it'll be interesting if they have a bit of a wobble, what will happen then. People will say, "Oh, Rams day, I could not gonna do it again this year." So yeah, keep that noise probably inside that dressing room. I think the Southeast Division is gonna be a really interesting league over the next few months, I think, with some really good sides. Probably a number of sides, you think they can get promoted out of this division. Yeah, interesting. For me, they're probably favourites, but it's gonna be an interesting, it could go to the wildest division now. And an interesting Ramsgate Shepherd, he's got a really big game for both sides, 100% records, who's gonna come out on top, they've really beaten him in the trophy, Ramsgate. And I'm sure Shepherd people are looking for a range, but big game this weekend. So, and again, Ramsgate needs to bounce back after three consecutive defeats, but we know five out of five in the league, it'd be interesting to see how they go. - Yeah, TJ Jadon was 200th game for the Rams this weekend, which is quite an achievement for a young man. And he remains, everyone, Joe Taylor gets the headlines. Of course he does, because he scores the goals, but I've spoken to other managers in and around this league, and they will say TJ's the one. He's the one you have to watch, and it's the runs from deep, isn't it? And he's been an unbelievable servant for Ramsgate, and you wanna see players like him doing well, because the loyalty that he's shown, because 200 games for a step 14, is no mean feat when he was good at he is. - Yeah, I know managers up the pyramid would like to take him as well. So, again, if he performs his abilities, he'll get Ramsgate promoted, because he's good at, you've got Joe Taylor, who can score goals. So, they've got the armory Ramsgate, he's just getting over that line. - That's where the FA trophy wasn't too bad, or told with five of our sides joining Cray Valley in the first round. Ashford beat Walton and Hershin, one nil. Chatham saw if Wingate and Finchley were by the same score. Dover beat Chessant, city one with Bogner Edius, and result of the round. Oh, surely at Folkestone, we're in Victor hit eight past Ascot. But Cray Wanderers went out to on penalties at Brentwood. Humbay lost at Chichester, and Dartford beat in a home by Dollar Channel. Fortnite or so until the next round, but the title of the round for us, is a rematch between Dover and Cityborne. Well, Ashford will go to Lewis, Chatham go to Bowles and Pitzy. Folkestone also won the road at Barton Rovers, and Cray Valley will follow Cray Wanderers by heading to Brentford. And I know, Matt, your reaction, you're well excited about the prospects of Dover against Cityborne again, aren't you? Yeah, I think, I was yesterday, so I will look for a range. I'm fortunate I'm away, so I won't be able to go to that game. But I think Dover will probably be up for it because they were pretty down after Cityborne worked, very much deserved to beat them in the FA Cup. And I think Dover will be looking for a range, but Cityborne, as seen from last night, are a very good side and a good character amongst them. So, yeah, tough one for Dover again, but this competition, not too sexy at the moment, but at least we've got one Ken Darby. Yes, Darford, out of the trophy on Saturday, signed down a use of, but lost four, and a little bit of Ricky on Tuesday night as well. But Dover Athletic, you've been boggling to me just one day long Tuesday night, you saw your boys beat the Bucklings massive, Matt, but not a classic from what you've told me. No, no, actually fair, boggling with a better side, could have scored after 10 seconds. Good save by Mitch Walker, and I think, again, Dover scored a, it's over, again, it looks a bit leggy at times, and some of the players didn't sort of turn up in, you know, difficult conditions. But George Nickage, maybe all the luck he did now for the last couple of seasons, when he was playing, and he couldn't score, his cross came in and the goalkeeper spilled it, and it went in. And the main thing I've come from there is, you know, the dart for goalkeeper gave a couple of goals, and Rayman Dover played it. How important Dover have to have Mitch Walker, because having a goalkeeper, very experienced, knows his level, and is a good goalkeeper, because, you know, the ball comes in, you know he's going to come and claim it, you know he's going to make big saves. And if he was at the other end, he wouldn't have let that ball fruit slip his fingers, and Dover wouldn't have won one nail, so that come out from that. And defensively, they will look pretty solid. And it's a good sign, we didn't play particularly well, but we're going to saste as well from what my reports come, with one back-to-back games with two clean sheets, which is a good sign as well, saying we're going in the right direction and hiring the league, but not good for dart, but is it, John? It's not, it's very, very frustrating for them, because I did call this, I did say at the start of the season, they would win the league. I had a feeling. But then they've gone out and they've backed any pin, they've brought in any use of on a dual registration from Bournchurch. So they've got the clout there a little bit, they've got a bit of budget, they should be doing better. And I think it'll be the home form that will be frustrating for Dartford fans as well, because they want to turn up and watch their team do well. And they're not really, and going out, "All right, darlage and no mugs." There's no disgrace in losing to darlage, haven't it? But it just seems to be disappointment, after the disappointment for Dartford. And they should be better than that. And let's not forget, this is a club who were banging on the door of the National League for most of the first five years that we were doing this podcast. And now here they are in the Eastman Premier League, and they're finding it tough going. And I find it all quite baffling. I mean, obviously they've had things where things have come and gone and haven't responded, I suppose, to losing all those players, your Tom Bonners and all those that have been there for so long, Ryan Hayes, et cetera. They've never really bounced back from that. Eight league games in four wins, four defeats, 10 goals scored, even Dover have scored 27. I know you've got loads in one game. Dover scored 27 goals. Dartford have scored 10. If you'd said that to me, it's done last year. If I'd said to you, Dartford and Dover are both going down, but after eight games, one of them would have scored 27 goals, one of them would have scored 10. You'd have been, you know, popping down the what cliffs, wouldn't you? But actually, it's not, it's the other way round. And Dover have bounced back a lot better than Dartford. And Dartford, you know, you have Billerick here, decent and unbeaten. They've only let in five goals all season. But Dartford losing four in the way from Holmes. It's not a Dartford result, is it? - No, I know. He panicked, would be really disappointed with that. Could say he's under a little bit of pressure. That's one, five defeats out of six. Big game this week against Hendon in the league. They need to get a result there. It just hasn't worked for him. And I think you put the nail on the head there. They had solid players. You had the boners, the Brad books, who maybe when you could run the dressing room and get players up for it. And they've got a youngest squad now. But they're just not working from switching between the goalkeepers. And I'm Billerick here, a good side. But Dartford should not be going to Billerick him losing four goals to nail. I haven't really seen much on social media about how they're getting up, what the fans are thinking. But I presume they're not happy because like two years ago, they were top of the National League South. Look like we're going to get promoted. It's just gone very badly wrong for them. They're really badly wrong. I don't know where they can get out of this. It's a long way to go, but they will be expecting to be at the right end of the table. And I think Hendon's a massive game form at the weekend. And maybe for AD Pennock, you know, I like AD a lot. But whose oaks weren't good at the back end of last season and now five defeats out of six, he's going to be under a little bit of pressure. - And it's one of those things, isn't it? A lot you are a big fan of AD Pennock. Lovely bloke has done some great things in his career. But when you come into a job mid-season, you can always use the excuse of these aren't my players. I didn't sign them. And I know Alan Dawson used to excuse quite a lot at Dartford. Didn't mean his first season there. And then the exact similar thing happened. This time last year, they were losing games. And it was like, well, you've got nowhere to turn because these are the players that you've chosen. These are the players that you've brought in and they're not cutting the mustard. So that's where the pressure comes from because last year was, I suppose, a little bit of a free hit for AD Pennock. But in the back of the minds of the supporters is the fact that, well, we still end up getting relegated under him. And now here we are, as you say, that not in good form at the moment. And that's where the pressure comes from because it's like, these are the players that you've signed. These are the players you think were good enough to perform well this season and they're not doing it. And that's why he will be under pressure. And as you say, that game that's ended on Saturdays is a big game for Dartford because they're not where they want to be. And that is, it's going to be a concern for everybody. Yeah, again, I don't know if the board are in sort of, always been a world-run club dartford, always been on the up. Since they moved to that ground, always on the up. Okay, got relegated from the National League but always been there. They're just in a real poor spell. And I know, I had the use of coming, good player, but should Dartford be getting players who are coming back from a crucial injury on a dual registration that he could be called back to Hornchurch as soon as he can. Basically, Hornchurch are using Dartford as a way to get himself fit. Dartford can attract good players themselves if they can do. So, I don't know if that's the right issue, the right way to go as well in some ways, bringing players in. Clearly they need a striker. But yeah, using somebody else who may not be there for a while, may not go in their favour. Yeah, the next three league games were all at home and fourth, the next five at home as well. So, Hendon, Wingo and Finchley, Cray Valley, then they go to Pottersborough and then they've got Chessen at home. Normally, you'd be looking at those games thinking, you know, Dartford are going to pick up points there. But right now, Dover have just lost a wing gate. We know all about Cray Valley. Oh, look at that. And I would think if I was a Dartford final, this could be a tricky run of fixtures. And that's not what we were expecting at the start of the season. No, and I was looking at Hendon and I, a good at home went away from home. They're in the player position, so clearly they're no mugs either. So, yeah, I feel it's a big game. You just see what the gate is as well, because, you know, they've got 600 against Dudley. I brought a few, but normally you've started, you know, a gate with 1,000, they've had Dartford. So, if they drop, something may have to wrap them. So, interesting times ahead there. Yeah, elsewhere on Saturday, Cray Valley PM against Chichester, folks didn't take on hashtag and Dover head to Whitehawk before on Tuesday, FA Cup replay permitting Cray Wanderers' host, Chatham. In the Israeli-South, Easton Saturday, I was lost out of 3-1, AFC Coronathatic. Becklin went down 4-2 at Burgess Hill, Irritown beating 2-1 at Eastbourne Town, Margate 1-2-1 at Lansing, and Seven Oaks went down 4-0 at home to three bridges. On Tuesday, a thriller at the Charles Gander, City 1, came from 2-0 down to beat Deal 3-2. Herm Bay beat Stenning Town from Community 2-0. That's the artist's one of the reigning fact fans after I was corrected by Sussex native on Friday. In what was based, first homely game of the season, Margate beat Three Bridges 2-0, and Irritown drew 1-1 at Merstam. This weekend, Ashford, home to Broadwood Heath, is Becklin against City 1, Irritown take on Deal Town. Herm Bay hosted Seven Oaks, hired at home to Eastbourne Town, Margate hosts the AFC Croydon. We've all talked about that big game, Team Ramsgate and Shepionite. And I've left this one till last, but bottom of the table fin exports head to Littlehampton. Irritown will be Darren Andlow's first game in charge. After he recorded last week's show early, the news came out that Keith McMahon had left the bottom place side ahead of a new investor coming in. And then later that week, it was confirmed that Darren and his management team that had been back in them a couple of weeks ago have swapped top for bottom. A really good appointment, Matt, but a bit of déjà vu for Darren, who takes over a side of the foot of the table, much as he did with the Beck's last season. Yeah, hopefully he's got enough, well, we know in the back end of last season, they picked up the form. Interesting to see if some of the players now moved from Beck in them to Phoenix. He did a good job at Beck in them, took them to the top of the table. There was surprise, maybe from outside, maybe not from inside that he lost his job there. And we know a little bit more. We can't wait to see much detail of what we're seeing as we've got on it. Beck in the Bay, a good manager. Plenty of seasons, it's plenty of ways to get them up the table as well. So a long way to go. And good to see her Bay played over again, John, the fan that I want to do with it, he gave there, were they? Absolutely, no. Going back to Darren, obviously, as you say, he did a great job. I know when I spoke to him at Beck in them last season, he said it was hard coming in mid-season, but I'm hoping that he will be able to galvanize Phoenix sports because he's done such a good job at the start of this season. He's got Bradley Prichard with him as well, who is showing a lot of promise too. So it's an exciting time for Phoenix sports, and hopefully it will work out well for them all. And I'm sure we'll get Darren on the show at some point in the future. Midweek games in the division as well. Beck in them go to Broadwood Teeth, Margaret hit to Burgess Hill, Ashford go to East Grinstead. Herman Bay hosts Eastbourne Town. That's three in a row at home for them. Shepherdy go to Merstham, and Graham's get hit to Stenning before on Wednesday night, seven oaks post-sittingbourne. In National League South, Matesland warned off their big FA Cup tie over the Tuna, weren't it worth it? But Thomas and Angel suffered their first loss of the season as they went down to three-one at Snowtown. And the repair of the feats were welling. Three-one at home to Western on Saturday, with the victims of a sensationally bad penalty decision, and not for the first time this season, before one of the feet were working on Tuesday night. So winning two of the first three, Matt. It's just one win-in-eight for Roger in the side. They can very much do with the victory over Eastbourne Borough this weekend, couldn't they? Eastbourne, but yes, I don't know what's going on there. A few changes of personnel as well, isn't it? Well, he's bringing players in. Just trying to get that right mix, I think. Rod, for somebody who's so well last year in the transfer market, some of his signings haven't really come off this year, and he's had to release a few players. Difficultly without going or worthing as well, you know, one of the top sides there, Mo Falsall. I think they had a new stand as well, I think. So it was really quite a good... Yeah, so it's disappointing. Mitchell Berkham, so he played a little bit for Bromley, didn't get much game time, but just had to roll up the sleeves of it a little bit. Again, my money talks, maybe he hasn't got enough budget to sort of play, bring the players he wants him, but he's a good manager, Rod Stringer, so welling her onto a good thing with him there. But again, like anything, you've got results, you've got to improve, or the A, the board, and maybe the fans will come a little bit disgruntled, because they don't want another season of looking over their shoulder again, quite a tight division down the bottom again now. But again, just one win, we'll just relieve that little bit of pressure, but that will be tough against an Eastbourne side, who's doing quite well, John. Yeah, well, the disappointment was not doing that, the weekend against Chelston, I know their manager apologized for that, but they've chucked a lot of money at it, Eastbourne, and they're desperate to get up into the National League, and who can blame them. But yeah, I'll just, like you say, there's a lot about what happened last season at Welling, where they've shown some good, some good movement and some good promise, you know, to be talking to you, everyone was expecting to do really well, but then they followed up with a string of disappointing results, and I think that's the problem. What I will say is Nigel has posted that picture of the penalty decision, I'm sure he sent it to you. I mean, that is genuinely appalling. If you've not seen it, no one, no one is disputing that it's handball. A clear handball by the wedding player, stuck his hand out, stopped the ball. And the only problem with the penalty decision is that it's not even in the D, it's that far out of the penalty area, that it's not even in the D. I'd say a good five yards outside the box, probably from what I've seen. And apparently the referee initially gave a free kick, and some other linesman, assistant referee, has convinced him that it's a penalty. And I can understand that that's a very, very frustrating thing. And we saw earlier on the season, they had a bit of a rough trot down at Bath as well, did the wings. But these kind of things, you can look back at them and say, oh, I was frustrating, but you've ultimately got to play to the whistle and deal with these things. And I guess that's the frustration for Welling, and, you know, it should be beating Western Superman. There'll be this... Luke Coulson's running the show, he's got loads of goals in the season, they call some for his show. Well, he's good, isn't he? Yeah, yeah. But Welling, we're good at home last season, that really helped him out, wasn't it? The back end of the season, the winning games at home, the fans were on it, born, and it was a real feel-good factor, but it just doesn't seem to work from this season. It's a big game against these boys, so... It just then feels that players coming and going, coming in the summer, they're going early, just things not working out for them. So, yeah, another big game for one of our sides at the weekend. We're not getting in... I'm not saying it, but I feel a lot of number of our managers are under pressure, Josh. Absolutely, yeah. Ebster United then actually fought back from two down to draw with Watchdown on Saturday, but still sits at the foot of the table, so that, easy segue alert, surely makes them rip on Saturday for a good old-fashioned FA Cup upset map. It's Ebster United, it's Ebster United, the game of the weekend in the county, and last year's FA Cup heroes reached the fifth round against the team that they got plenty of history with. The team, our only team at the top of the only pyramid this season, what a time prospect. Yeah, absolutely. A little bit of history with this game, isn't it? I've read... You've probably got to say Maisten, a favourites Maisten's form has been good of late, excellent win against Wirthing, absolutely did well to come back against Watchdown, but not in the habit of winning matches, and you would have thought, first 20 minutes in this game, Maisten will be giving it fully to get Ebster. Try and get into them. You know, they've conceded two goals a game, Ebster. So if you've got players who are on it, Maisten will be looking to get at them. I've got a funny thing in Ebster for Ebster for some reason, I don't know why. I think Ebster are going to win this game, maybe after a replay, but I think it'll be a tight affair. Maybe that confidence Ebster got back from coming back from Watchdown, with a fantastic goal by Ben Chapman, I've never seen it when he scored the halfway line when he saw the keeper coming off. Maybe that was that little bit of lift they needed, but it should be a crackling game. I think it's all tickets, it would be a big crowd. But again, Maisten have done well in the FA Cup over the last few years, so it would last year particularly, didn't they? So really interesting time. Would you say it's bigger for Ebster for Ebster than Maisten? I think it's a massive game for them both, but yeah, I think Ebster fleet, all the pressures on Ebster fleet, isn't it? I know obviously Madestone will feel there will be some pressure on them, because of what happened last year, and the fact that they brushed aside League 2 and League 1, oh, and a championship team as well into that matter, and there'll be a cracking atmosphere. And this tie is as good as a first round tie for Madestone United, to get a team in the league above a local rival. I think it's fantastic for them. I think the atmosphere will be raucous, to say the least at the Gallagher Stadium on Saturday afternoon. And I think it's on a knife edge. It could go either way. And I don't think for either team, it'll be the B1 endle if they lose, because Ebster obviously got bigger fish to fry at the moment, with where they are in the league. Madestone United, no one expects them to do what they did last year in the FA Cup. So it's a massive game, but I don't think it's the B1 endle for either side, if that makes any sense. But I just think, you wouldn't want to be Ebster fleet going there Saturday, would you? Yeah, that's not what you wanted. When you're at the bottom of the league, the last thing, when that draw was made, we could go Monday, you were sat there and you were an Ebster fleet United fan. And someone said to you, what's the worst thing you could get? And they would have said, probably Madestone away. I think that was the one tie they probably didn't want out of anything. And I think that's where it's interesting. And what a tie in prospect. I'm looking forward to hearing how it all plays out anyway. Yeah, and it could be a replay, John as well, which is, we're not going to be the last replay of the competition. This year, because of course, the first round doesn't have it. So, yeah, I just fancy it. Yeah, I'm saying it, I think you're absolutely going to get through. And I think it will kickstart them a little bit. Madestone, home form has been a little bit patchy. So I think Ebster can exploit that. And I think it could kickstart this season. But if I had to go through it, I'm going for it. Ephrapsley. And last by no means, Lisa, this is your destination on Saturday, Matt. You're from Ingo Park. Cherry being popped, as they host Tumbridge Angels in their FA Cup tie. Again, it's a team from a division lower at home to a team higher up. But different here, because Craig Wanderer is obviously at the foot of the table, finding things a bit tougher so far this season. Tumbridge Angels suffered their first league defeat at the season. How they bounce back is going to be interesting. But again, what a great tie. Yeah, for Craig Christian the ground, I'm sure Tumbridge will come in numbers for there. I'm looking forward to visiting the ground. Tumbridge desperate to get in the first round, where they can have supporters. Craig desperate to get there for the first time in their history. I'm from a Craig point of view, you know, a local Derby fourth round, fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup. It's going to galvanize the town. Come and look at this new ground. This is what we've achieved. We've wanted this for so many years. Come back and watch it. You would have thought. Eight times out of 10, Tumbridge. Have a good start to the seasons apart from last week. We're expecting Matt Davidson. He said they were, you know, worst performance of the season they got exploited. But again, what a cry you got to lose. What Neil Smith? What would Neil Smith want? Love to get through. He wouldn't play Bromley, wouldn't he? So, yeah, it's cracking, cracking time. And again, there's no reason why Craig had been very up and down this season. But you didn't expect them to be haisting in the previous round, and they will swap them apart. So it's going to be an interesting time. I'm looking forward to it. Probably, Tumbridge should come through. But don't back against the Neil Smith side. I guess it'd be good for you as well to see the current Thomas Angels vintage and all and see what they're up to and what they're like. Because they've had a great start to the season, despite losing to a decent style side at the weekend. Yeah, I think that Davidson said it. Really pleased exceeded expectations. But I think from a Tumbridge Angels point of view, the FA Cup is a key one to get to the first round. So they'll be pleased with the draw. It's a good one for them. Now they've just got to compete. Do their jobs that they've done in that eight of those nine games I've had this season, and they will be in the hat. But Craig will be giving it everything. You know, the likes of Tom Bonner, experienced side players who've been there, done it. And that could be all important for Craig, just lifting those players. It should be an interesting afternoon. Yeah, again, I should look forward to hearing how it's all played out. And of course, we will cover it on next week's show. That's it for the football chat. I have some news, Matt. Yep. I found my banana. Hey! Where was it? In my work bag. Oh, squishy. Yeah, it wasn't. When was the last time you looked at your work bag? Did you? I've noticed. That's a case. That's a case. I'd had a look. And I thought, no, it's not in there. And then it must have been Thursday. After talking about it on the show, I popped something in my bag. I believe it was a meal deal. And then when I got out, I was like, feels a little bit strange. So then I sort of delved deeper into the back of the bag, walked straight over to the kitchen at work, picked up some kitchen towel, stuck it in the bag, removed the banana and popped the banana straight into the bin. It did not fulfill its destiny of being eaten. It had to go in the bin. And my work bag seems to be OK, but it wasn't the dream, should we say. So let's try something else away. Somebody, yeah, what can you lose next? And your work bag, yeah. Have you got your pencil sharpener, OK? Yeah, I'm normally quite good with it. I don't know. I just lost a banana. That was all it was for that. You know, I'm glad to have sold this mystery. I sold the mystery within 24 hours of the podcast being released. So that wasn't all bad, particularly. Were you all weekend away? We're going to go to another nightclub. What's the plan? I just got, well, we're not going anywhere. I'm just off work. So we've got a second viewing at the house. Oh, yes, I can say to you that last week. How did you get on in that first viewing? Yeah, it was all right. There's things that we need to look at again. So that's why we're going back. All right. And then I think we can have a chill. Hopefully watch slow horses. And then as I'm off on Sunday, the rarest of raresties would go in out for a roast on Sunday lunchtime. We went out for the one on Sunday with my mother-in-law. And it was very nice. The Jack door in Woodton, if anybody from that would recommend a lovely bit of beef. Lovely, hurried soup for starters. Very nice, very nice roast dinner. So that was a bit of an exciting thing. Of course, I've got really for my holiday soon. So I'm here next week. And we may be able to record one the following week, John. But I'm away and about on my house for a week. But that's a bit exciting as well. So there you go. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, we're going somewhere in Toronto. Well, roast dinner. So I'll report back. We're trying to sample as many roast dinner places in Toronto. As we can, I think, at the moment. I mean, would you go for beef or would you go for a bit of everything? Well, I've not put this one. But I did a part of it. It's told me that they've only got chicken and beef. So she couldn't find anywhere with any pork or lamb. So we're going to this place. I will probably go for the beef, because I can roast the chicken myself. Whereas I find roasting a bit of beef a bit harder. But hopefully, yeah, it'll be pleasant. So, yeah. Yeah, no? So wait, isn't it? Living the dream mate, living the dream. Or giving me updates on Yorkshire Puddings, because I'd make a mean Yorkshire Puddings. So I do think nobody can make as good as mine. But let me know how you get on with the Yorkshire Puddings. I certainly will. The weather has been absolutely awful, hasn't it? Last night, driving home from Tumbridge Station was something else. I tell you, horrible, heavy rain, flooded roads. It was not the one. But, and I looked this up earlier on, and because I haven't used this computer for ages, because my laptop is not well. I've had to log into everything again, which has been an absolute pain. The backside, I've had to change some passwords. Oh, it's been an absolute nightmare. But I did look it up, man. We have got listeners in America. So I do just want to say to anyone who's out in Florida, bloody hell, stay safe. Because it doesn't look like the one out there, does it? I mean, that is going to be terrifying. It's on its way now, isn't it? I think, into Florida. And that looks pretty bleak. So if you are in Florida, thank you for listening first and foremost, and spreading the word. We have listeners, Matt, in, just changing, sorry. We have listeners in America, as our second most popular country, after the UK. We have some in Australia. We've got one in Saudi Arabia, according to the recent, the last month stats, or maybe somebody who was on holiday in the last month. Like in, we've got some in the Philippines, some in Indonesia, that sort of area. Thailand, I think there was someone over there listening to that. But New Zealand, New Zealand. Come on, New Zealand. Where are you, New Zealand? There must be somebody in New Zealand, who wants to listen to this podcast. Neil emblem. Does he slap you there? Yeah, yeah. If you know someone. He must be on Twitter, John. Copy him inside. I'd like to see if he wants to do that from there. Neil emblem. Well, genuinely, if anybody listens to this show, and you know someone who's in New Zealand, who is an ex-partered, a Kentish person, just put a smile on my face, and tell them to download the podcast. Next week, they only have to listen to probably 30 seconds. They'll probably get to the bit where I say, I'm John Phipps, and switch it off, and I don't blame them. You know, but it would just be nice if we could, if we could continue our world tour. I've never been to New Zealand. I don't know if I'm ever going to get there, but it would be nice to know that someone on that faraway island has listened to my voice. That would just cheer me up. We'll go for that. Yeah, I'll talk to an America. I do speak this guy in America who lives in Florida, I deal with, and he built his house in Florida over the last couple of years. He's from Manchester, he'll ask me how old she's going to get, and I'm going to speak to him. And I did say so, he'd rather probably be back in all two of them, and he said he would, because his house was absolutely destroyed. You have to build it out for two years. Then he's going to go somewhere else, and I think he's in Orlando at the moment, and basically he's praying that when he's over his house, he's still standing, so fingers crossed for him. Yeah, absolutely. We're everybody out there, as we say. I know it's not relevant to most of you, but generally everyone, generally, in the weather, when he's chucking it down, stay safe, drive carefully, and be careful. You can find us on Twitter @Kent and our podcast. You can find us on Facebook, search for "Kent only podcast", or the group, "Kent and only football chats". We're on threads on Instagram as well, @Kent and only podcast. I'm at John Pipsato, I'm Matt Zermath, I'm at the Onshore Jarred. I hope you've all enjoyed this week's show. We've really enjoyed it. I've got to say John, good. This is a good, 6 o'clock. I'm still, or still at work, but I feel a bit more focused, and sometimes the late ones, you'll be a bit, but I feel focused now. I can go and watch slow horses. Good show, that one, I think. Yeah, absolutely. Well, you enjoy slow horses. Hopefully, I'll see it that we can, we'll do a spoiler-free conversation about it on next week's podcast. And we will also, of course, more importantly, bring you all the FA Cup action. Well, Trevor did say to me on Friday that he wishes in the summer we just did a TV podcast, because he doesn't know what to watch. But I've said, we need the time off. Yeah, I hope that. From each other. Absolutely, that's the most important thing. And your wife needs to see you. Exactly. Along with you. So there we go. Thank you. But yeah, we will bring all the latest from the FA Cup next weekend. Massive good luck to all four of those teams. As we always say, when it's the tires like these, may the best teams win. Good luck to everybody else over the course of the weekend. We'll bring you all of the news next week on the Kenton only podcast. Look forward to popping my cherry this weekend, John. Just like you did in that night club at Eastport. - Yes. (laughing)
