Let me get this beer league man out of the way real quick so we can jump right in. (water splashing) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) - Well, last Thursday we had a big game. Three and a whole team we're playing. Team We really haven't been able to beat, at least I haven't been able to beat them. We started out good, we actually had three leads, pretty much for a second period. But they kept coming back and we had like I said, three leads that we'd score and then they tied up. And then, you know, so it was tied at three going in the third and then I gave up a couple bad goals. And when you were trialed till the third period, we'd end up losing five to three. So just can't seem to beat this team, I don't know. They're, I mean, they got some good players but we'll be in them eventually. So like, that's all I got for the beer league minute and not much more to say. I don't know what, if you got anything to say before we roll into some, our first recap of the season. - No, no, I've got nothing. I've got nothing, I've got no beer league minute for all day to day life. - Well, someday you can come out and play again, maybe. - Yeah, maybe I'll sub here and there. - As far as the press, it's not going the way it's, not going the way I expected. The first game of the season in the home opener in Nashville against Dallas. Soros was deemed out, guess you got injured, practiced a wide word started. He was actually in Dallas last year but the press bar played, you know, they came out with the OC, March of Solstiankos, Forsberg, O'Reilly. They've changed it up since then, but I just, I thought that that, and I remember saying in the preseason, I was thinking, no, that power play line could be. - It sounds phenomenal. - Yeah, yeah, and it just, yeah, it just doesn't, but I only saw it. - So early though, D-Law, like I understand you've got some, you know, the red flags are up, but let them find their groove. It's their first season playing together. You've got some all-star big-name players on that roster. - You know, don't panic yet. Like I'll let you get into your thing, but just don't panic. I know you're talking to you all week, you're in panic mode. And it's way too early for that. - Well, apparently Stiankos isn't too concerned, I guess. Yeah, I don't know if that's a-- - No, of course he's not. - And nobody's concerned. - I just, and even the coach is not alarmed by the lack of offense. - It's just, like I said, D-Law, like you got to flood and find their groove. It's too early. Now if you're like midway through the season and this is what you're getting, yeah, now the alarm bells are going off. Not one game in. - Well, you know, they're already falling behind, you know, in the standings. I'm, well, they're not quite as bad as Colorado, but it's, when I was swelling, you know, a lot of the recaps that, you know, they're still looking for the first win. And you can't go too far. I mean, we're almost at the end of October. And if they, if it keeps going on, there's even, there's gonna be loss. I mean, you're getting in November and December and you're already behind like the top half of your division. It's, it's really hard to catch. It's really hard to catch. I mean, maybe some of our teams will go on the slide. Maybe this is the slide, if you call it, but I mean-- - There's no slide or anything, it's game one. - I, I just, but we're, we're not even an eighth of the way through the season. - And, you know, I haven't really been able to watch much. Yeah, you know, I'm busy, the games that they've played. And I've seen a little bit of that Dallas game and they didn't look bad, but they just-- - They got a really slow start. - They didn't, they just-- - They got a slow start. And they didn't really help out Wedgwood. And then, you know, they, the birds, they actually outshot both the points in both their games. And then-- - See, now let's go into the Dallas game really quickly. I think, I think one thing that I would be, you know, I know you were a little hesitant on this and I know you've had some concerns. But, you know, the, the first goal of their season against Dallas came on the power play. And I know that the power play you say might have, might struggle a little bit, you know, but, but they've got, they've got potential. - Their, their power play as of today is one and 10. So-- - So that was your only power play goal. - One, two, 10, so, I mean-- - I mean, they didn't have that many penalties. - And they got rid of the coaches that were running the power play last year. So it's a home, you know, new, new coaches. So, I mean, what are they gonna get rid of them? - I mean, you, you've got some really good talent out there in the power play. I mean, yeah, maybe the defense is key in, but, and I know it's one thing against the Dallas game is, they were held, not, not just in the power play either. And I didn't really get to see much of this game, but Dallas held them off the outside. They didn't, they weren't, the pretz weren't getting inside. And that's, I mean, in, in AHL and any league, really, you, your goals are gonna be coming inside. You're not very often, you're gonna score from outside unless it's deflected or there's massive screens, like Seattle scored one tonight. It was like a three layer. There was like three, pretty much three layers of screen. And they weren't all right in front of Saros. They were, but there was like a predator a little bit out on the defense and then a little bit towards the middle slide. And then there was a crack and kind of right on the top of the crease, not, you know, not anywhere near the creek, would definitely wasn't anywhere close to interfering. But, you know, so there is three layers of screens and it found its way in. So, and two of those goals against in the Seattle game, early tonight, the Seattle scored on a two on one. So it's, they gotta be more, I know their work, the predators are more, they're trying to work, getting their offensive going. So it leads these two on one opportunity. So, you know, I just, obviously the game's going on. It's kind of back and forth game. Right now, you know, they got, they got the game tied up again with Seattle after two periods. So they guess they got a third period, it looks like they're on a par play again. But, you know, basically all I want to talk about the Dallas and Seattle game. - I mean, I'm going to talk about the Dallas game a little bit if you don't mind, one thing that I noticed is the back check in the first game is not good. And the problem that I also see with Nashville is like, if you watch that second, Jason Robertson goal. I mean, you can look at, you know, I mean, you can even look at Rupa Hintz's goal. You know, it's same scenario. You get, you know, a fast break out of the zone and they're not able to get back. But what I don't like even more is not so much that they couldn't get back. But as soon as, you know, they start passing it and dropping the puck off on that fast break, Nashville is just, they're chasing, you had four guys chasing the guy with the puck. So, I mean, you have Stan Coven coming in the zone for Hintz's goal and then Hintz for Robertson's goal. It's very similar, very, very similar play that developed where it was a fast break, like I said. And they dropped that, but then they dropped the puck off in, you know, right into the slot. So they take a deep, deep, deep, deep, deep, drop it into the slot and then it's a wide open shot. And the problem that I have with that is, is you have four guys in both of those goals that are chasing the puck carrier. They completely lost the vision on the ice. They completely lost everything that was going on around him. And they allowed for Hintz and Robertson to both be open, uncontested in the slot. Like you have to, you know, especially protect the slot. And there's no reason for four people to be chasing one. I get it, everyone's hustling, but you have to have the awareness to see the play developing as it comes in. Because yeah, he might take a shot and, you know, that's up to Wedgwood to make that say. But if it doesn't take that shot, now it's up to the four or five guys on the ice to see who they have to mark up on the man to make sure that he's not getting wide open in the slot. And it's easy to get tunnel vision as you're chasing someone down the ice. And I know that I don't play or have ever played nor will I ever play at a high level of hockey. But even in beer league, like you get that sense as you're coming down the ice, as you're chasing, 'cause that's all that I do is chase. But you're coming down the ice. - Well, that's what usually happened in beer league is chasing not 'cause you, everybody, that it's just, I was just about to say that sounds like, something like a beer league hockey. I know earlier in tonight's game, the commentator, the press commentator, had mentioned it looked like a little bit like panhaki. I'm not sure exactly what he meant by that or if it's a scoring or if the way the press were not defensive, it was kind of running gone. - Yeah, getting back to the Dallas game, I just, it just, you can't even fault Wedgwood. I know he used to back up. I mean, it just, the team didn't play. - No. - No, they left the high and drive early on in that game. - Even though the quick, what was it, 24 seconds between goals or 30 seconds or something like that? - It was like, I believe it was 19 seconds. - Oh, 19, okay. - Right. - But it was, you can't blame Wedgwood for that. I mean, he's not skating. - And even though the press did outshoot him, I would, I don't, I'm not sure what the scoring chances were. I don't even know if that's really even, is that really even, you know, I don't, I don't really take full, full marks and into when they say scoring chances because I mean, I don't know, I just something that I don't know, it's, - Well, I mean, you have to look at it as a quality opportunity to score a goal. It doesn't mean that it was a good opportunity. It just means that it was a, it wasn't just a shot on goal from center eyes. - But, you know, looking back on that they, you know, they did play better in the third period. They actually, I didn't, like I said, it wasn't able to see it, but I've heard, you know, for some of the recaps and some of the announcers, they, you know, they, they pretty much took it to Dallas in the third, I mean, I see they always scored two goals, but they, I don't, I guess they, they, I don't want to say dominate, dominate strong word, but it sounds like the third period was their best period. And you can't have, you know, like, you know, in the first period when they gave those two quick goals, which they seem to always do against teams, they just, you know, you can't give up those, you know, the first two periods, yeah, there's three periods of the game, but, you like, they're, they can't, unless it's a scoreless game or they're only done by one, you can't expect it would win one period win the game. And, and, and, and the NHL, you got to play a complete game or close to a complete game, but, you know, we spent way too much time, you know, as far as I concerned, I know we got a game in common. - Yeah, I'll, I mean, if you don't mind, I'll dive right into the Detroit game. I didn't really get a chance to see it, you know, they, the predators did outshoot like two to one, and I believe it was like 42 to 21 or something like that. But I, you know, I was, it was doing camera, camera for the junior game, so, wasn't able to watch out. Was I, I watched part about my phone during Intermissions and, and I did, I was keep track of the score, but I really, I would dive down and see the score. So, I got to let you take this more than, than me. - Yeah, I mean, I, I was able to watch the whole game and, you know, just kind of keeping par with last year, a little bit of disappointment, you know, again, I'm not in panic mode. It's way, way, way too early for any of that. But yeah, do you try to actually start out well? I mean, we came out of like the gate and to break it scored a nice goal set up by Raymond and Larkin. I, I think, I think this line is going to be okay. I mean, obviously throughout the season, don't get shuffled for, you know, trying to get a spark, but right now I, I like this line. I, I think they're playing well together. I know in the Ranger game, they weren't together with, the cat was with Showtime, but, but I, I like the dynamic that this line brings. Raymond has really evolved his game. He's, he's game, you know, that if you watch him play, his patience is helping him develop into a good player. And I'll get more into that, into the Rangers game. But, to break it comes out and scores that early goal. And then it was just Pittsburgh dominating from there on out. And, you know, unfortunately Talbot had, had a little bit of a rough night and it did not go, did not go well for him. But Villier gets two, you know, two goals. One at the end of the first, one in the beginning of the second. But then it was just, it was domination by, by Pittsburgh. I mean, Terrasenko snagged one from to break it. He had a three point night. Had two goals and an assist. Raymond had two assists. I mean, we're getting, we're getting guys scoring, but, you know, it's pretty evident that our defense is still a work in progress. And I'm not gonna say that it's a dumpster fire 'cause we've got some young guys out there, but it's definitely concerning that with only 28 shots, there was enough uncontested in the zone, in the slot. You know, it's just, it's worrisome, a little bit that, you know, Detroit out shoots them 32 to 28 and we lose six to three. You know, definitely not how you wanna start the season. Not, not not good. But, you know, obviously, like you were saying, Dila, we've got a game in common. So I am going to skip over that. So that way we can talk about it. So yeah, so now I'm gonna talk about the Rangers game. (Dila screams) Yeah, it was, you know, it wasn't as disappointing as you would think. The score was four to one. I actually thought Detroit played a pretty decent game. You know, one area that concerned me in this game and not that my opinion matters for anything, but Detroit's, they were only at 41%, just shy of 42% on face-offs. And we've talked about this Dila, that you need to have a good face-off win when it really matters. I know you, you know, in certain scenarios, like you just need to get a face-off win and Detroit just struggles in that area. - That's one good thing the players are doing, you know, with San Jose center, so, you know, I mean, yeah, I see, you definitely need the center, you know, the face-off, 'cause that's, you know, the heat possession, so. - Yeah, the other thing I wanted to comment in this game was, I thought Detroit squared up. I thought that they had some pretty good scoring opportunities. And, you know, one thing that I really wanted to point out, and I said I would talk about this during the Rangers game, is Lucas Raymond. Now, he didn't get a goal on this particular play, but this is just where I see his maturity really starting to set in. And I think that he's going to do really good things this year. I think he's gonna fly under the radar and have a very good season, but he gets the puck in the corner. He passes it off, he's skating into the slot, defenders coming up to, now, he could have just taken a shot. It would have probably been blocked by the defender. That's what he would have done in years past. He would have just taken a quick wrist shot or, you know, done something to just get the shot off instead of trying to get a high-quality shot. Well, in this game, he gets the puck back as he's skating backwards into the slot, and he waits and he toe-drags to give himself that extra space to open up the net a little bit more. They got the defender down, he went right around and he had a good shot, you know, unfortunately, she's jerked and just had a great save, but it was just, it showed that he's maturing. And I know a lot of people anticipated that, a lot of people expected that, but it's coming true early on in the Detroit season. So this game was another debacle. Larkin got the only wings goal. It actually came with .02 seconds, .02 seconds, left in the first period, and it, you know, it brought to try it to a 1-1 tie. So it was taken a hope after the first, but after that, it just all kind of fizzled out. But yeah, D-law, dive in. I'll talk about the play specifically. In the third period, you know, the Detroit is early in the third period. Now, there's some pressure on Detroit. Lions making a couple of great saves. Puck comes, you know, across in front of him, from right to left. He pushes over from post to post. The net comes dislodged. Play the whistle, you know, the play is called dead. Whistle down and Detroit's assessed a two-minute minor. And I didn't know what was going on. I had no idea. So I was listening to Ken and Mick and from their understanding, they're going to be watching the net getting dislodged very closely this year in the NHL. Don't know if it's happening in any other games yet. Haven't quite got that far in my research. The net came dislodged from an innocent play. He didn't flip the net. I mean, he didn't pull a, you know, lung quest. I think that's because I don't remember what it was. There were last season, there was a lot of goalies. Actually, I don't think it was this one. I don't want to see another one. But I think there was cliffy goalies that would knock the net off. There might have been one that did it more, but I think that's why they were doing that. Yeah, no, I get it. I get it, but, you know, it's just, it's an innocent play and it's going to, like, I don't know, I'm not a goal. You would probably be able to attest to this a little bit better. But I'd have to imagine that it's going to alter the way a goalie plays the position. Because if you're aggressive between the pipes, go inside to side, you know, are you going to lay up to try to avoid the penalty? And that's, I mean, as a goalie, that's, I mean, that side to side is very important, especially actually, I'll dive right in. I was going to kind of change going to the rules chain, but I can do that a little bit later. But first, as long as I'm going to talk about the goalies situation, it might give more of a background and then it can go into the rule. But decide to decide for a goalie. And, you know, I have only been playing goals for, well, I think it was 2008 when I started. So, it's a lot longer than I thought, but I definitely haven't been playing since I was five, six, like, a lot of these NHL goalies. But as a goalie, your side to side is very huge, especially, you know, nowadays, you know, they're always doing the cross-size passes, trying to get the back door, go behind the net. I think, in this case, you got to get the movement, you got to get it. And this, so the goal is your side. And when you slide the goalie, is a goal you want to make, keep your pad inside the net so you can seal off the post. And also, so your skate doesn't, obviously, because if you're not, if your pad's not in the net, you're going to slide, change that, you're going to slide right by the net and then you're way out of position. Or if you hit the net, you're, obviously, your blades going to hit the post and your blades shot. And, well, maybe not mine, but, like, you know, 'cause I don't, and also, yeah, obviously, NHL goalies or college goalies or pretty much any goalie with me, I'm strong enough sliding, so I don't have to worry about knocking that. I have knocked and that not totally off, like, this situation. But, like, NHL goalies are, you know, very strong. So, and they get that power push so they're really quick. And when they slide, they're taking all that, the speed and your strength. And if they don't stop, right, you know, stop when they want to, and they're in their post and their leg pads in the post, what's going to happen? They're going to take the net with them and then that's going to come just, just lodged. And I, obviously, I wasn't watching this game, but I went back and I saw the video, I found the video online, and watching this video, that's exactly what Lyon was doing. He was just sliding across to get to the post. There was no way, and now I guess I'll go into the rule change. There's always been a rule where if it was intentionally knocked off, it was a penalty. Now, the rule change, and I hear, and when I was watching the video, I heard Mickey say, "The new rule." I don't know if he was misunderstanding with this particular play, but the rule change for this one is, if the defensive team cannot make a line change, if it was accidentally dislodged. Now, in this case, it was, in my opinion, accidentally. So, yeah, they should have not been allowed in line change, but there was no way that should have been a penalty. And the rough, and it was in New York, I don't want to get into any of the New York fans, but it's probably one of the reasons what they call that penalty. The rough, obviously, deemed that it was intentional. I mean, I mean, I didn't see it live, and I mean-- - Yeah, we were kind of thinking that when we was intentional. - They don't have, the rest don't have a replay to go back, unfortunately, but it was so down the game. But watching it on video, and I only watched it a couple of times, oh. - Yeah, just, do you, do you just play, where you was sliding over and it came to silence. There is no way, under this new rules, obviously, the trade shouldn't have been allowed to change, but what they call a penalty, they probably, a lot of them, I don't know how that works, but they, yeah, there's no way that was intentional. No, there's no way. So I think the rough got that one wrong. I don't know if the coaches were arguing yet, I don't think they could challenge that. Not sure that-- - Yeah, there's not much you can do. - There's no challenge. - They had called what they had called. - Just wanted to get that out, and you know, so, and then I'll let you finish what happened after that. - Yeah, I have, it was four to one debacle. Again, I think they tried to actually played well, and I'm excited for them to meet again, but I just, I think they played okay. Could it have been better? Obviously, the scoreboard says so, but the overall play of the guys, I think they did well, they were getting shots on that. I mean, that's what you need from your team, and now we just gotta get some goals to follow. I think it's just a matter of time before that happens, but yeah, we want to jump into the Preds now, Preds wings. - Like I said, I didn't watch, so I don't really-- - I know it's happening here. He doesn't wanna talk about it because of the song. But I'm gonna break it down, and you're more than welcome to try and finish it. - Oh, you know what that was? What was the score, oh, no, it's three, nothing, and you know, a part of that is because Cam Talbot had a great rebound game. He finished two shots. - Well, 22 shots, so yeah, I mean, I don't know. - I don't know played well, I mean, he played very well, and it's nice to have that first shot out as a new wing under your belt early in the season. So, you know, hopefully that first game was a fluke, and now he's gonna bounce back, but you know, I think he played very, very well. And, you know, the first goal for Detroit came, you know, in what I call secondary scoring, and that's what you didn't see in the other two games that we had talked about. You know, JT Comfer got the first goal of the game. You know, it was a deflection, but, you know, Cider had a great play to pass that over to Sharap at the point. You know, it took a nice shot just like you would do, and Comfer had a nice goal. I mean, now, if you were watching a D-law, my phone would have blown up that it was a high stick. It didn't count, it shouldn't have counted, but it wasn't a high stick. It was deemed, it was below the crossbar, everything was good, and Comfer gets his first goal. Andrew Kopp gets the second goal. Again, that's secondary scoring, and that's where Detroit is gonna need more and more production and consistency or out of those second, third, and fourth lines. And, like, obviously, you're not gonna see a fourth line go out there and do incredible, amazing things, game in and game out like a first line would. But just, you know, to consistently have, you know, a goal, a night, or, you know, a couple of goals every few games, like, you need to have that consistency and know that those guys are gonna produce when you need that, you know, when your stars are being matched up upon, you need to rely on those secondary guys to put up some points. And, you know, Detroit got that this game. They needed that. You know, obviously, Dylan Larkin came out, he got an empty net, it wasn't anything incredible, but, you know, the captain's finding ways to score goals, and, you know, that was his first goal of the season. But I think the key for Detroit in this game, like the big takeaway is your secondary scoring is happening. And you've got the goaltender who seems to be able to hold a workload. Nashville is no joke. Nashville is not a team that I would say that was definitely should've been a win. I honestly, you know, I had a feeling that Detroit would win this game. But if they had not won that game, it would not have surprised me at all. Nashville is a good team. I think they're gonna be a very good team. I think they just got to hit their stride. But, you know, Detroit was able to put three points against arguably one of the better teams in the NHL. So. - Look at me. - Look at the shot chart in this game. It looks like the prayers have a lot of shots in the radar on the crease area. Kind of like in the slider, there's a... - There's a defense. - That concerns me. - There is a defense. There is a decent amount outside. So, you know, saying that and, you know, 40... I'm not really sure how many shots are down low, but they're looking like a decent amount. But, I mean, 42 shots. And I would probably say maybe 20, maybe half. I mean, there was a lot of outside shots, but, you know, for that many, you know, and obviously he had a shot out, 42 say. So, I mean, that's... Yes, it's alarming defensively, but it's a good indication, you know, Ken Telberg, you know, you might actually found a goalie that's, I mean, they've had a little bit of a goalie curse out over the last few years, Detroit has, so. - Yeah, I mean, like, I don't know if you notice, they just put who's so out of waivers, and he went down to Grand Rapids. - They're saying he's still gonna be able to come up and get a start here and there, which is good. But again, Detroit's the goalie graveyard. So, I'm hoping that Talbot finds his stride here. Like I said, getting that first shot out of the way in your new home to me is a big deal, because it's like getting that monkey off your back. You came out of a Pittsburgh game, you know, and it just wasn't a good game. But this was a great bounce-back game for him. - And against some pretty good shooters in that game, you know, Forza, we had six shots in that game. March, March, so I had three. Sam Close had five, or Riley had four. So, I mean, these guys are scores. And, you know, to stop them like that is really good, good sign for Detroit and Talbot. - Yeah, yeah, no, I agree. - Just looking to score tonight's game, and I was three three going the third period, and it's five three, see, I don't know, oh, six or three. So, never a good third period. Let's see, change scores Jordan. I really enjoyed McCann. Let's see, 119, two foil, and they weren't too close together. I mean, maybe a minute apart and then love, so. - Yeah, and I just want to clarify one thing. So, who so, who was put on waivers after the Pittsburgh game? He did start the Pittsburgh game. And when I'm saying Talbot had a good bounce back game, he led in two pretty not good goals. So, I just wanted to clarify. Like, he didn't let in all six goals and whatnot. I believe he let, I want to say he had a flawless second when he came in and then led in a couple of weaker, probably shouldn't have gone in goals in the third. So, who so takes the, you know, takes the punch to the chin on that one, but, you know, Talbot again, from letting in some pretty weak, you know, some pretty weak goals. I mean, he only faced seven shots and lead in two goals in the third, so, not great. But anyway, I just wanted to clarify that so that way people didn't think I was blaming all six goals on Talbot. - You can't blame him and I didn't. - I'm not blaming the law. - I didn't, I didn't look into how many shots he faced, but I mean, obviously, you know, you can't even, you keep that, you can't even sell that because he got, actually, in a game like that, you have to see how you got to actually watch how the team is playing. Maybe they, maybe they played weak goals. - Maybe they played better once he changed, you know, 'cause sometimes there's a glitch in the team plays better. Sometimes they don't, you know, I don't, obviously, didn't see that game either, but. - So I guess that's, is that it for the recaps? We can, yeah, we can dive right in. - Close the door on the recaps. Just a couple of news stories I wanna get under for some injuries. - Yeah, the Utah first game is kinda interesting. Your Utah first game, they set a record of beer sales for the arena and they have an NBA team as well. They played in that same arena and, well, maybe they don't drink beer, I don't know, but $120,000 in beer sales. Oh, I don't, most feet, I don't know, I guess, they weren't on warm bits, 'cause I don't think, I don't know, maybe they do drink, I don't know, but. - And then- - I'll tell you exactly what it is. Do you wanna know what it is? It's because they can only watch part of the game with the way the arena's set up, so. - Oh, yeah, they're all in there to do. You're drinking. - Watch it on TV and then in the concession area. The Rockford announcer, he was actually, that's the Chicago so yeah. He actually quit, it sounded like it was like, really sudden, like, right after the game. And he got a job with Utah, so. - Well, that worked out. - I guess it's, I guess, it's the big one. But, you know, I just thought that was kind of funny 'cause the way they said it, it's like not, it was like really kind of locked 'em up in our arms and Rockford and Chicago had to kind of like rush to find the replacement so. 'Cause usually, you know, it takes a week or two or whatever, but. And, you know, we mentioned that some of the rule changes which I should have covered last week's show or the first week actually. But, and we covered the one robot that's not coming off. - I think there was three, yeah, there was three changes, I believe, one new one, there is a new challenge rule that they can rescind a delay game for when the puck is over the glass, like if it gets tapped or deflected or something. But, if it's unsuccessful, they get a second penalty in addition to a delay game. So, you probably won't see it very often, but unless they're gonna be really good. I mean, I mean, every team, you know, they have their guys upstairs that are watching, just coming over the video and they got the iPads on the bench. And so, you know, they're gonna be, they're gonna, it's almost like in football. You have, you're gonna be really 100, almost 100% sure that it's not a penalty. Like, like if it hits, probably like if it hits the glass or it gets deflected or maybe the net, you know, of course, if it hits the net, it probably won't go out. It's mainly in the area, in the middle of the ice where there's no netting. 'Cause I had never seen a delay game where it hit the net and getting caught out. I mean, I'm not seeing if they can't hit the net and go out of play, but I don't think they probably wouldn't even call that a penalty 'cause it would hit the net first, but technically the net is nine in play. Because when it hits a net, they call it with a whistle, so. Another one, they Carolina last season. Player was sitting on the bench, getting ready to get on for line change. And this year, they're gonna give 'em, well, I guess they're gonna give 'em a warning first, but they're gonna give 'em an unsportable penalty while the play, you know, as the play's going in. And then the guy is sitting on the bench, like both like, he's actually sitting on the bench and on the boards with his legs over into the play. - So is it only legs over the boards? To know a lot of guys will sit on the bench and then get their feet over. - Well, if he's sitting on a dash of boards with his legs, they showed the replay when they did the video, when they did the video of the new changes, they showed the video of last year, the Carolina player, and he was sitting on the dash of board with his legs over into the play, into the action, which is, I mean, it's technically, he's not touching the ice, but I think more, more than anything, it's more for safety reasons, I think, because, you know, you're sitting on the bench and your legs are right there. I mean, obviously they might be able to jump, but something happens and there's a collision, you know, you never know you could get your leg pinned against something, you know, a couple of bodies or whatever, but I'm thinking more, more of a safety precaution. I think for the player, I never, you know, obviously, it hasn't happened. - I've never seen an injury from it, so. - Not saying it can't happen, but I can't, I can't understand, I mean, if I don't want people, I mean, it doesn't happen very often, so I don't know why they don't even put a rule on right now, I think it might be like a, 'cause they might, it might be something that players will do more and more and that they see that and get ready to jump into the play, but then if they do a tour, they get too many players, I don't even need to, I'd have to really dig in and see why they made that rule. - I'm thinking it's a safety, safety reason, but. - And speaking of safety, there are a few injuries. - Yeah, you know, I like to pile up. - If you wanted, if you would be going to dive into some of those, if you know, you know, oh. - I only saw, the one I saw was celebrating is week to week right now. I didn't see what happened, I was just looking at some of the injury reports. I didn't, I didn't see what happened to him, but I did see that he's gonna miss some time. - And Barkov is out two to three weeks. That's the same. - I see that. - That's the same, I don't know if the same injury, it's a lower, they're calling it a lower body, so it sounds like they're doing the playoff thing early. Boom Jenner is out for the season. - It's an old boon. - Real for the season, he has shoulders. - I think that's all the injuries I see that I saw so far. - See, I think, yeah, Boom Jenner, he's older, he's 31, so I mean, it's gonna be possibly a little bit more of a recovery time, but I think he's gonna, you know, he's putting up 35, 40 points a season. You know, he's definitely gonna be missed for Columbus. I feel like they're, you know, they could be in trouble. - There's no suspension yet, so that's probably a good thing. No real nasty hits there, and Chris worked so like a weekend, weekend of the season now. - Yeah, that's why it's like, there's still so much up in the end. - You know, it just, the alarming is, the predators, let's say if they're gonna drop tonight, six or three with about three minutes left. So they're gonna drop to Owen three, Colorado's Owen three as well. - Yeah, I think you're gonna see some, - Man, yeah. - You're gonna see who these guys are made of here in the next few games. They're gonna go into the locker room. I mean, I just stand close as a winner. He comes from a winner, he's always been a winner. This is not gonna sit well with him. - Yeah. - I'm like the guy you want in the locker room for a scenario like this. - I imagine there's also Owen three, so you got some good teams that are struggling early. - It's early, like you said, it's early. - So, and you know, it's, what's alarming and I, you know, was been watching the game, the Seattle game tonight. They really didn't look, they had spurts, but they were okay, but generally they weren't playing good enough. I mean, yeah, they fell down to the nothing. They battled back, tied the game, and then they gave up like another goal, almost not right after, but it's right after. I mean, not like the first or second shift after the goal, but it was, you know, to give up the goal. And then, and then they eventually did tied a three, but then, you know, so they go in the third period tied and they started with a power play. And I'm sure how much it looks after the power play. And then, the way, you know, I obviously haven't seen the third period, to drop three goals in the third period, that's not, it's unacceptable. I don't know, I didn't see these goals, so I don't know if it's, you know, breaking, like could have been the two on one, or I know odd man, Ross or something, but they got some things to work out, and, you know, hopefully they can overcome this slow start to the season. As far as our predwings 10, I, you know, it's, like I said, it's early. I don't, I think we'll start it, maybe like the end of October. - Yeah, it's too early. - We went to first month at things settling, so we'll get to that going on, and, you know, the last week, October, maybe first week in November show, maybe it might be around our 100th episode probably, 'cause this is '95 now. Just jump real quick, I mentioned the end rows last week. They did start their season on October 11th, which is last, last Friday, really was. They played, oh, old, full, we have Kamen Kamen. They were in Grand Rapids. It was a three-nothing loss to the Grand Rapids. I don't mean to steal your Griffin's minute here. - No, I don't steal anything, 'cause I'm just-- - But, because I didn't watch any of it. - The goalscores, obviously, was there all at Griffin's? - Marco Casper, Carter Maiser, and Dominic Shine, which those names we've heard you mentioned last season show, you know, at the end of the season, and how, you know, in the bright future. So, you might see Maiser maybe Casper up with Detroit sometime this season, or maybe next season, full-time. Who knows? - Yeah, I mean, he might get a shot. And also, Cosa was playing in that night and he had a 35-stage shot out. And then, Admiral's new go away, I believe they got, the one they got in the score-out track from San Jose, Magnus Crona, he had two goals against on 26 shots. So, it's not all that bad. But then the next night, you know, obviously the HL, they play a lot of back Friday's Harry Games, 'cause it's basically when they played number out and they played like a weekday game. They were, they went to Chicago, which is, I don't remember who was farmed to you anymore. The Chicago Wolves, they end up getting a four-to-one win and that one, Matt Murray played in this game, who the preters signed, I believe, I want to say that he signed up from Dallas, but Wedgewood was on Dallas, so, maybe they got both from Dallas, but he, memory had a 32 saves in that win. So, they gave up a little more shots to them, to Chicago, then they did Griffin's. But, Yolcan Kemel, he scored, Kell Riley, he had a par play goal, and then Kiefer Bellows, and then they had an end-to-neck goal. So, Kemel is gonna be, hopefully, in one another up and coming with the preters, maybe within a couple of years, I don't see him coming up this year, or maybe not even next year, but he, I, and let's say he decided to trade him, not to kill, but he will be a future predator. And then, so next weekend, coming up on the 18th, they got a good game at Rockford, and then they have Milwaukee, he has their home opener on the 19th against Rockford. So, they got a home and a home with Rockford. So, that's the Admiral's minute here, and I'm not sure if you have anything for the Griffin's or not, I kind of stole one. The first was season, I believe, I can't remember if they won the next game, and I know they obviously won, they'd be Milwaukee. So, so, as far as the weekly picks, I'm over, over at the whole thing, the national side, Detroit side, you know, I got the Dallas game wrong, I got the Detroit game wrong, you're one-on-one on the pred side, you picked Dallas game wrong, and you got Detroit right, and then the Detroit side, obviously I'm all three wrong, and you're two for three, you got Pitchby wrong, but then you rebounded with two correct picks for the national and the Rangers. And I'll let you start your coming up picks, I think the 17th is the first-- - Yeah, we already went through those. We did all the way to the nationals, I thought. But I'll go through again, I'm not that worried about it. So, the 17th, I'm gonna say a win against New York, 'cause again, I don't think we played that bad against them. And then I'm gonna say a loss against Nashville. I think Nashville's gonna rebound and come back. Yeah, and then I've got the Islanders, and I'm going with a win against the Islanders. - Okay, I'm gonna say a loss to the Rangers, and then a win against Nashville, and a win against the Islanders, I think I changed the national one. I can do that 'cause they're coming up. The 17th is on Thursday, and then the 19th, that's actually an afternoon game in Nashville, which is kind of shocking. Usually Detroit has the afternoon games at home. Not very often does Nashville have an afternoon game, and that's it's late in the season. Okay, so we got the Detroit side out of the way. So, going with the Predators, I had called a win against Seattle. Actually, that came might be over, so I think we can actually, yeah, it was seven through Seattle, so let's see, I got that one wrong. And did you call a winner a loss? - Against Seattle? - Yeah. - It shows on my side win. - I had to, I fixed the thing, 'cause I had an extra game, right? I don't know how I added a Boston game on my, I don't know how I did that, so I don't know if that was, I don't remember if you said a winner a loss for Seattle. - I thought I said a loss against them. - Okay, okay. So you probably, okay, so you got that one correct. The 17th Edmonton, the 19th home against Detroit, and then a 22nd, next Tuesday against Boston. I fixed three losses. That lost to Evanie Drake and Boston. Yeah, I've got a loss against Edmonton, a loss against Detroit. And no, I had a win against Detroit there. - Oh yeah, 'cause you said loss for Detroit, so I-- - Yeah, you switched that on me. - No, it's, I, what I read did the schedule, 'cause I had, but I don't know how I, I added, I added a Boston game on the roster for the French, for the 14th, and they don't even plan on the 14th. So I don't know what I was looking at. I almost been looking at the 22nd. - I was like, I was doing the roster, the schedule here, and I get down the end. - I think you can beat Boston, and I think they're gonna beat Detroit. - The way they've been playing, let's see, get things turned around real quick. - They will. - I'm sticking with three losses, though. But yeah, when I was doing the schedule and before the season, I get down to the end and I'm like, why do I have an extra game compared to Detroit? And I counted it, I'm like, something doesn't add up. And I added an extra game in Boston, so I had to fix that. So the schedule, our schedule was fixed now, and I didn't adjust the picks because I couldn't remember, they changed them. So now that that's all kind of like last year, what I missed, I missed the game. Actually, I think it was Detroit Boston. So something was Boston. The last year on our schedule, I missed Detroit Boston on our schedule, so I had to add it at the end. And then this year, I added a Boston actual game. - Get a mess. - So, I don't know what's going on with me. But yeah, so they're still looking for their first win and look at the schedule. You know, let's see, you know, they got some tough games, you know, maybe they'll come, maybe they'll get a gift at Chicago. Chicago's struggling themselves. They're one, one, one, so. And, you know, they got, you know, Edmonton coming up a couple of times, and then before you know it, the CMA trip is coming up in November. That's coming up awful fast. The only good thing you want to get their stride for. - So, you know, like I mentioned earlier in the first week about that road trip, the first lengthy road trip. But the only good thing right now is, even though this is their first, you know, they're out of four game homestain right now, even though they dropped the first one. I guess that's about it. I'm gonna try to stay positive, but it's kind of hard watching these guys right now. But we'll see. Maybe when they start scoring and March or so and Sanco's having a score go, yeah. So maybe when they finally score a goal, maybe when they finally score a goal, they'll just, it'll snap and they'll start scoring. I mean, last year was Sanco's at what, 42. So, that's pretty much all I have for this week. If you got anything else to add. - Nope, nope, I think that does it for me. - All right, I gotta start putting some things together for 100th episodes coming pretty fast.
