All right, in this episode, a guy I played P-Weave football with a million lifetimes ago, Eric Kramer went on to play 11 years professional football. Then, well, then the story really begins. From Corolla One Studios in Glendale, California, this is the Adam Corolla Show. Adam's guest today, former NFL quarterback, and East Valley Trojan, Eric Kramer. Plus, the news would be my toss, and now Adam Corolla. Yeah, get it on. Got to get it on. No choice, but to get it on. Amanda, get it on. Thanks to an end. Thanks, young friend. Our guest, the guy I've known since I was eight, probably. You know him as a professional quarterback, Eric Kramer, played, I don't know, 10 years in the league. How many years? Yeah, 11, I believe. 11 in the NFL. Very crazy, unlikely story, in terms of getting to the NFL, and then afterward, the story really gets crazy, but always think about Eric, because we must have met at the East Valley Trojans back when we were young, and I know your dad, and as I've told you, you know, from when I was seven, seven or eight, something your dad told me just lodged into my head, and I think about it every once in a while, but it's important. Yeah. And what it was, your dad was like an assistant coach, right? And your dad seemed to me to be a kind of Ricky Nelson type or something. Like, I don't know, he seemed like a good looking cowboy type. Okay. Is that what was your dad? Who was your dad? Like, I was from North Hollywood, I never saw, I think he had like cowboy boots and stuff. Could have been, I didn't see those, but you know, he was just a guy that I think really took an interest in young kids, helping them get a start in life and through sports was a way that I think he connected and what business was again? He was in sales, so he had various jobs in life where he was selling, I don't know, sprinkler equipment in office supplies or whatever it was. And so. And what was his first name? Carl. Yeah, it's weird back then. No one here was a junior. Anyone's, oh, no one knew anyone's first name back then. Right. Coach. Coach Kramer. But I started in, I guess we started on farm, I don't know when you started, you started on farm. What is this? Farm is the very first, like you're six or seven years old. Oh, yeah. I think it was called, actually, you know what, I think we're called the Trobabes. They were, they're called both. It was the Trojans, but it wasn't. So we were Trobabes. And I just sat on the bench the whole season for no real good reason. I just, I don't know how it worked. They just, I just sat there and then next year showed, came around and I just showed up again. And then your dad walked up to me and he's like, you come back. And I said, yeah, but it was more I had nowhere to go. You know, he said, what options did I have? Said, you come back for a second year. I said, yeah, I did. He said, I'm tickled, pink to hear that. And I remember thinking about that a long time. And then, and then I started both ways from that point on. So like it worked out. Okay. But well, you were there. See, there's a picture of my P.E. or Mighty Might. Oh, yeah. Team. But that was from 1975. I'm all the way to the top and all the way to the right. And I have my journey. I have my jersey draped over me because I broke my shoulder two days before in a game. And I'm out for the season. Look at that. Good looking kid. That's why 70s. Everyone has shaggy hair. That's why there's no arm sticking through. It's a cast on my arm and the jersey that got cut off me and the field draped over me. There's an exceptionally tall coach there on the right. Looks like you might have been an NBA player. Yeah. We had Mr. Fitzgerald and Mr. Podley, Mr. Whitman, and then your dad and Duke Gallagher. Right. I had lunch. No, I had dinner with Duke Gallagher and his sons like eight months ago. Yeah. It's amazing. I remember Danny. It was his son. He was fast. He was he was with us. So now what years did you play? Because we played maybe two years
