Welcome to the Low Carb MD podcast. No one is beyond help. No one is beyond hope. As we have always said, we're bringing you medical information and cutting edge science, but none of this is medical advice. Please seek out input from your own doctor. Thank you for joining us for a very special series. I will be highlighting the power of metabolic health in the employee wellness space in this series of multiple episodes. We're going to be demonstrating the power of nutrition and community in improving the lives of employees in the corporate landscape. Our employee wellness program has been published in the medical literature. We've demonstrated a reduction in cardiovascular risk, a reduction in A1c blood pressure and weight, all while reducing the burden of medications. Despite these amazing results in the literature, they don't capture the patient experience. Today we're going to hear the story of Melissa and Mark who collectively lost over a hundred pounds and reversed their disease. Their in-story inspired us and our whole team and I'm sure it's going to inspire you too. The Louisiana company that invented a machine to process shrimp back in 1947 is leading the way in employee wellness and health care. I talked with Dr. Troh Colegion of Dr. Troh's weight loss about what Latrum provides its employees. We work with you know all the different businesses there because it's not just that company. You have to sort of give people the tools so that they can sustain this at home. Meeting health needs of workers. We want to bring your services to the entire company and so that was exciting to me because I know in the literature it's been published that a metabolic health program focused on nutrition, focused on you know low carb eating, intermittent fasting. It's been shown to save companies money. It's been shown to reduce the costs for medications and patients absolutely love it because they lose weight and they come off their diabetes medications. So I was excited.
Good morning everybody. We are continuing with our employee wellness program and we are interested in pleasure in interviewing Melissa and Laura Ronovich who have been part of our program for well Melissa just under a year and Laura how long has it been for you? Probably about eight months. Got it. Okay so giving a sense of sort of what life had been like before you joined the program. What have you tried previously? What was your sort of your weight and health history and what will go there? Yeah so I had struggled with my weight my whole life. I was thinking back to you know my earliest memory of having some kind of a weight issue and I remember as a kid I liked school but I hated to go shopping for uniforms because I had to go to the special section which was sort of the husky sizes and it was embarrassing even as a kid I remember that pretty vividly and so I sort of bounced around with my weight as far back as I can remember. Having said that as I got older it was you know I tried a lot of things but it was always kind of with an end goal in mind like a wedding or graduation or there was something where I was going to be in a photograph and I didn't want that
