Welcome back to another edition of Health Hack. I am Melissa Dealey, and I am continuing my series on minerals that your body needs. And this today, I'm talking about manganese. Now manganese is all about energy production. And the body will use manganese if it's needed to produce energy. It would prefer not to, but it will do this in times of high stress. And we will see it elevated as well to balance blood sugars, neurotransmitters, nerves, and then to try to create more energy in the body, as I've said. It can also be high if you use well water. We'll see it high in lab testing, but it's very often high simply because the body is in that chronic stress state, and it's looking for another source of energy. And so it's using manganese and burning through that. So what are some symptoms associated with manganese deficiency? Well, they are allergies, type two diabetes, dizziness, fatigue, bone fractures, or osteoporosis, hypoglycemia, ringing in the ears, or tinnitus, as well as muscular weakness, and weak ligaments and bones. So manganese is something that honestly, I'd never heard of really when I was in the corporate world, but now in health and wellness and understanding the importance of all of our minerals. And just the fact that we don't know enough about them, we don't pay enough attention to them to know that we're getting the right levels of minerals in our diet. This is a very important one, because of course so many people out there in the world today are feeling fatigued, dragging their butt, relying on coffee and energy drinks to get through their day. But it may simply be that your mineral levels are also deficient because of high stress, you've burned through them and you haven't been able to replenish them naturally through your food. But we can absolutely run lab tests to find out what's going on in your unique body, figure out the minerals you are depleted in, and then you can use supplementation to bring your levels back up and restore your energy, restore your vitality, and just start to optimize your health.
