Hebrews 11:4-6 "Living By Faith"

After describing what faith is in Hebrews 11:1-3, the author now begins to give us examples of people who lived by faith. As we consider these examples, we must keep in mind that we don't imitate the actions of these men and women, but we are to imitate the faith by which they lived.
This faith is further defined for us in this passage. Living by faith means to believe that the God of the Bible exists. It is not enough to merely believe in any god, but we must believe that the God of the Bible exists. And we must believe that the God of the Bible rewards those who earnestly seek Him. He rewards those who seek Him with salvation, sanctification, and glorification.
Abel and Enoch show us how to live by faith, even though the two men met very different ends because of living by faith. God has always required faith for men to please Him, and He still calls us to live by faith.
