Jesus is better than the prophets; He is better than the angels; He is better than Moses and the priests. But, what about the Old Covenant, the one mediated by Moses and the one that defined the life and hope of the Jewish people of the first century?

The author of Hebrews points out that we are in need of a new and better covenant because the old one is not able to fill our greatest need: A new, living heart. Jeremiah tells us that the heart of man is engraved with sin; for true righteousness and reconciliation, we need a heart engraved with love for God and His word.

Through the New Covenant - a covenant sealed in the life and blood of Jesus - God is able to provide the change of heart that we need to be truly and perfectly righteous before Him. In this New Covenant God promises to write His Law on our new and living hearts, He promises to give us life changing knowledge of Him, and He promises to perfectly forgive us.

The Old Covenant is obsolete; the New Covenant offers life to all who repent and believe.
